A Little Late

Published by Shel9999 at 3:58 am under My Designs, Stamping Bella

JFYB2Happy Mother’s Day!!!  I don’t have a Mother’s Day card today, but I do have a birthday card…a little late.  This should have been in the mail last week.  Unfortunately, my brain was in twenty other places, but this card will definately go out in tomorrow’s mail.  (And don’t forget–the cost of postage goes up tomorrow!!)

My 6 x 6 Palette o’ Prints has been sitting on my table for a week and I’ve been dying to use it.  I love the patterns, especially this little flower print.  And because I can sometimes be slightly “color-challenged,” I pulled out my Color Coach for some ideas.  I decided to use Regal Rose with the Amethyst print and Apricot Appeal as an accent.

I first stamped Cakeabella onto Whisper White, then onto the dotted Amethyst paper from the palette and once more onto a scrap of Apricot Appeal.  Using an aquapainter I colored her hair with Close to Cocoa and Creamy Caramel, using a Cocoa marker to outline the curls, Blush Blossom for her face and neck and Regal Rose for her pants and cheeks.

I cut the apron from the dotted Amethyst paper.  Since I planned to cut the cake from the Apricot cardstock and adhere atop her apron, I cut the apron as one piece, improvising her waistline.  That way, when I adhered the cake, it had a flat surface to lay upon and looked a little more 3-d.  (Make sense?)  After cutting the cake from the Apricot cardstock, I used the white Signo gel pen to color the icing and added dots of Star Dust Stickles along the bottom of the cake.  I colored her boots Close to Cocoa and scribbled in some ground with a black marker so she didn’t look like she was floating in air.

I mounted the colored/assembled piece onto Regal Rose.  On a scrap of Apricot Appeal, I stamped Just For You from Papertrey Ink’s first release, Paper Tray.  I adhered this to the patterned paper, then used my mat pack to evenly space three brads on the left edge of the Apricot strip.  (I like to insert brads before attaching the final layer to the actual card so the metal ends don’t show on the inside of the card–when possible.)  I adhered the mounted Cakeabella to the patterned paper using dimensionals, then adhered the assembled panel to the card front.

Cardstock:  Regal Rose, Apricot Appeal, Whisper White, Palette o’ Prints

     Stamps:  Cakeabella, Papertrey Ink

Ink:  Basic Black, Regal Rose, Close to Cocoa, Blush Blossom, Creamy Caramel

Markers:  Black, Close to Cocoa, Signo white gel pen

Accessories:  brads (Doodlebug Design, Inc.), Ranger Star Dust Stickles,

     aquapainter, dimensionals, mat pack

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
