My Favorite Things New Release!
On August 1st, My Favorite Things will release FOUR new stamp sets and they are all awesome! You won’t want to miss them! Here are two samples from the first, Back to School.
For this card, I used Basic Grey’s new Infuse paper pad. I thought this pattern mimicked fabric quite well and would work for a suit. The desk is actually the chalkboard stamped upside down. I used Chocolate Chip ink, then decided the desk should be black, so I used a discarded black chalkboard stamped in black, cut down a bit so the brown framed the three sides.
Just a side note, for anyone who has battled with the thinness of SU’s Whisper White cardstock (as a base) or if you don’t like the specks of Confetti White, Papertrey Inc.’s white cardstock is fabulous. It’s bright, it’s sturdy and no specks! Thanks for the enabling, Trudee.
Cardstock: Papertrey, Inc., SU Black Patterned Paper: Basic Grey Infuse paper pad Stamps: My Favorite Things “Back to School” Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, Creamy Caramel, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip Accessories: Old Olive brads, designer tab punch, Ruby Red and Black Stampin’ Write markers, mat pack/needle.
I had a dilemma with this second card. I wanted the teacher to hold an apple instead of the pointer stick, but the way her hand was curled around the stick wasn’t going to work. So I thought hmmm…..how can I get her hand to hold something….then I got an idea! I stamped her right arm onto a scrap of vanilla cardstock, colored it on the back of the paper then cut it out. When the ink was dry, I outlined her arm on the back side with a black marker. It worked!! Her elbow is bent just so that it works left or right! I was so pleased with myself!!! Hee-hee-hee!!
This is a really cute set! Lots of possibilites! Stay tuned for more!

I love em both! I didn’t even notice the work that went into the hand until I read your post! You are the paper piercing QUEEN!!!! Glad you had a safe trip, you were missed!
What great cards. And great idea with the arm. Would have never thought of that!
Cute stamps and great cards! You’re just full of amazing ideas! Wonderful work, Michele!
These are so super cute, M!! Love all the work you put into that arm with the apple! It totally looks like it was meant to be there!
These are fantastic. My kids are collage age, so I wouldn’t have any use for these, but they are really great.
These are so cute!! I can’t wait to get this set! You are too clever — the arm is perfect!!
Don’t let the nasty stuff at SCS get you down. Your teacher card is adorable and now I MUST have that set!
I absolutely love your work, and don’t take my comment the wrong way, but am I the only one unnerved by the headless aspect? I hate to bring it up because the work is so beautiful but it really is hard to look at them. If it was “posed clothes (like the Banana Republic catalogs) I think it the stamps would be more fun, but since there are arms and legs, it just is sort of jarring to see it headless.
[…] The patterned papers are from Basic Grey’s Perhaps paper pad. For the suits, I paper pieced from the fabric-looking solid “prints.” The buckle is also from Basic Grey. I used SU’s ticket corner punch on the corners. The blocks just looked a little plain with square corners. The sentiment is from My Favorite Things Sassy Sayings, and I did my little switch-a-roo arm trick. […]
