Paper Frills…the Possibilities

Click to enlargeHave you seen these packs of Paper Frills by Doodlebug Designs?  Each package contains 32 pieces (four each of eight different designs) in two shades. That’s a lot of borders!  I’d seen them around and wondered, “Do I want this? What would I do with it?”  Turns out there are lots of possibilities!

TOY1On this first card (left), I used a strip of the flower design.  I threaded the light blue dotted ribbon through the first hole, knotted it and put the end back through the hole to the back, bringing it up into the next flower center.  I did the same thing for the little flower in the pink bug’s hair.

Cardstock:  SU Bashful Blue, Bazzill Coconut Smoothies     Patterned Paper:  Sassafrass Lass Scrumptious “Indulgent” and “Chiffon Pink”     Stamps:  C.C. Designs Luv Bugz, sentiment by Inkadinkado     Ink:  Brilliance Graphite Black     Accessories:  Copic markers, Doodlebug Design, Inc. Paper Frills “Bubble Blue,” May Arts ribbon, glue dots, pop dots, Ranger “Cotton Candy” and “Diamond” Stickles.  Finished card size 4 ¼” x 5 ½”.

IOK4On this sample (right), the light blue “frills” didn’t really match the paper I wanted to use.  Guess what? The back of the frills is white!  You can color it with markers to match any color you need! :)  Here I used the scalloped edge strip, coloring it on the back side with a blue marker to match the paper, then I layered the zig-zag strip on top (after coloring it red).  The little piece on each side of the sentiment is just a trim of one scalloped piece like I used next to the image.  I added the tiny red brads in the existing holes.  The bugs’ little “skirts” were colored with markers too!

Cardstock:  SU Real Red, Bazzill Coconut Smoothies     Patterned Paper:  Sassafrass Lass Scrumptious “Decadent”     Stamps:  C.C. Designs Luv Bugz, Karen Foster Snap Stamps “mini formal”     Ink:  Brilliance Graphite Black     Accessories:  Copic markers, Doodlebug Design, Inc. Paper Frills “Bubble Blue,” Queen & Co. mini sprinkles (brads),  black SU marker, Bazzill white eyelets.  Finished card size 4 ¼” x 5 ½”.

D315My last sample uses the same frayed trim as the skirts above but as grass… again, colored with a marker.

Cardstock:  Bazzill Coconut Smoothies, Bazzill Parakeet Canvas     Patterned Paper:  Sassafrass Lass Scrumptious “Luscious”     Stamps:  C.C. Designs Bunny Ears and Flowers     Ink:  Brilliance Graphite Black, SU Certainly Celery    Accessories:  Copic markers, Doodlebug Design, Inc. Paper Frills “Bubble Blue,” Stardust glitter pen, May Arts celery satin ribbon, mat pack/needle, SU Certainly Celery marker, Bazzill white eyelets.  Finished card size 4 ¼” x 4 ¼”.

Overall, these Doodlebug Paper Frills are a lot of fun!  With some markers, the Lilly White frills would be perfect!  But the other colors are fun too!
