You Warm My Heart and a ‘DOH’ moment for me

YWMH

On December 5th, My Favorite Things will release three new sets, one of which I used here, Baby It’s Cold Outside.

I paper-pieced the girl’s coat, scarf and boots using prints from Daisy D’s Snowflakes and Holly 6 x 6 pad.  I love the old-fashioned look it gave this card.

I first stamped the image onto the blue patterned paper, then again onto white cardstock, and two more times onto the red and ivory/olive prints.  It sounds like a lot of stamping and piecing, but it really wasn’t.  Even cutting the pieces wasn’t bad on this one!

It’s a really cute set which includes three sentiments, the image above, a mitten, one large snowflake, a set of three smaller flakes and the two images that lead to this next card.  I don’t know what was wrong with me, but I kept looking at this one stamp thinking, “They forgot to put the handle on the mug…Why wouldn’t they have put a handle on the mug??”  I thought this for DAYS.  Just as I was about to mention it to my husband, I realized “This is not a mug.  It’s a HAT.”

Boy, did I feel stupid.  SO, the set also includes A HAT and a little circle that, I must admit, I am still unsure of it’s purpose.  But I gave it one!!!  IT IS A HANDLE FOR A MUG!!!

Chillin

I sometimes wonder about myself…the things that go through my mind…or DON’T go through my mind. lol.

Anyway, I used a Petaloo magnetic tag/card here.  The magnet is in that circle part on the front, completely enclosed in the red paper.  These are so much fun to decorate.  The inside is just right for holding a gift card.  Matching envelopes are included, they come in several colors/prints and there are matching flowers available as well.  They are VERY nice!

So, on Wednesday, December 5th from 9-11 p.m. (est), My Favorite Things is having a New Release “Cocktail Party.”  Head on over to the MFT forum at Splitcoaststampers to get all the details.  There will be give-aways, coupon codes, a challenge and sneak peeks.   And find out Wednesday how you can become an MFT Guest Designer.  I hope you’ll join us!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Ohmygosh — your cards are beyond cute! My brain obviously works in the opposite direction of yours, because I looked at your mugs and thought, “How in the world is that supposed to be a hat?” — It took me about three looks before I saw it! Love what you did with the stamps — I NEED this set! :)

Michele - love these - especially the snowman card. I finally bought my first two MFT sets and love both of them. Looking forward to seeing the new releases.

Those mugs are adorable and such a great idea! (I think the circle is a snowball?)

There’s nothing wrong with you, I would have done the same thing. Both of these cards are just too cute.

You are too funny! And I LOVE your mug! The little round ball is a snowball, but I like the mug handle idea better!

Very cute! Maybe the little circle is for the buttons on the snowman?? Anyways, it’s great to think outside the box and I think the mug is adorable!

OMGosh — Michele!!! I have totally been thinking that was a mug, too! I kid you not! I haven’t used it yet, and I was looking at some of the other DT members cards thinking “Where’d they get that cute hat? Did they draw it themselves…” Never dawned on me until reading your post!!!! Double D’oh moment for me!!! Ha! We’re some great minds thinkin’ alike, aren’t we?! : )

GORGEOUS card — so love every single thing you’ve done with it, esp. her boots and scarf! And the mugs — adorable!

ROFLOL, that is hilarious…Ok I love those moments when people don’t have a clue about something and then say something really funny, it lets me know I’m not alone. It reminds me of a friend who looked at a sign that said ‘Autistic Dog Training ‘ or something really similar and just looked stumped and said “how do they know the dog’s Autistic”. Ok, aside from that, I LOVE your cards, especially the top one. The colors are so fantastic and the paper matching coat is gorgeous. You just made me want to buy this set.

What a nifty card and a fun ‘duh’ moment to share with us - you are only human, after all!!

Your card is ultra-cute! I soooooo love the way the paper piecing looks on this because the papers are so darn perfect for it. I sure love the paper. You’ve got me in hysterics over the mug/hat issue! You’ve got them fixed up so cute as mugs, it took me quite a while to see them as hats. I kept thinking, “what the heck kind of hat would that be?” Finally, I figured out it was for the snowman! I knew exactly how you felt then. Thanks for the laugh, Michele!

Sorry, but the hat and circle look like the MUG you intended it to be, so IMHO, they are multi-purpose and one is limited only by one’s own imagination! Very cool magnetic card. Hadn’t seen these before. Very cute and cheerful card!

OMG I just love that 6×6 paper from Daisy d’s that you pieced the gal making the snowman. I have 1 6×6 makes me want to go out and buy more. Do you ever get crazy like that, what if I can’t get more later???????

  19. trudeeon 06 Dec 2007 at 9:33 pm
