Back to my Roots
When I first started stamping, I almost always went for the flowers, the distressing, the dirty edges. A good friend once told me I must have a garden in my head. I didn’t really think much about that until one day it hit me…that’s all I stamp…flowers. So I forced myself to branch out, to reach for images that needed to be colored, to the cuter images. Although I love those images now as well, I’ve missed the flowers. When I saw The Rummage Bin and Silhouette Blooms by Cornish Heritage Farms, I just about gasped out loud. I was tortured by the sneak peeks and couldn’t wait for the new releases.
Today is my mom’s birthday and I wanted to use these sets to make her card. I chose the delicate stems and a flourish from The Rummage Bin “Beautiful.” The sentiment is from “Silhouette Blooms II.” I used the “Burlap” backgrounder (also by CHF) using a very light touch over the focal image and then again, with a stronger impression, on the larger background piece. The focal image is raised on pop dots, as is the entire front panel.
To get just the tiniest bit of sparkle, I added to most of the flowers a very small dot of glitter using a clear glitter pen. I smeared each dot a bit with my finger, then removed any heavier glittered areas by lightly scraping with the tips of my scissors. The sparkle is just barely noticeable.
Thanks so much for stopping by. I am certain you will see (many) more cards/projects using stamps from The Rummage Bin. I can’t wait to play some more! Have a great weekend!!
ETA: The ribbon is from Jacksonbelle Embellishments (as is 99.9% of the ribbon I use). It’s fabulous, as are *all* of the satin-reversibles.

I love the card, but I’m fairly new at this stuff, and was wondering if you would tell me how you got the edges of the card to get their “scruffed up” looks. What did you use to create the effect? Thanks so much. I really enjoy this blog.
This is so gorgeous and beautifully distressed! Happy birthday to your Mom!!

I am a flower lover myself and this card just about took my breath away. I LOVE it!
Truly lovely, it’s amazingly beautiful!
Michele, this is the kind of card that made me fall in love with your stamping. It’s absolutely gorgeous! I know what you mean about branching out, though. I always want to do florals but I try to make myself do other things, too. Then I find I’m not making the pretty cards that make me feel good…sigh… I think it’s important to do what feels good to you with maybe a temporary diversion once in a while.
Ok, so now you’ve made me want both sets of the Silhouette Blooms! Awesome card!
