Switching Gears

Published by Shel9999 at 7:22 am under Inkadinkado, My Designs

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter!  Spring break is over (for us) and it’s back to our regular schedule…or so I hope.  During the break, we did manage to see Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who!  That movie is SO cute!  I really enjoyed it.  My daughter’s favorite part (and one we’ve heard repeated *many* times since in a high-pitched squealy little voice):  “In MY world everyone eats rainbows and poops butterflies!”  (lol…I suppose it could have been a lot worse!)

I’m switching gears today, leaving the spring chickies and bright, sparkly papers behind for a guy card.  You know I love my browns so I enjoyed making this one.

Thinking of You

TOYO

I like the textured look of this Signature Suite patterned paper so I decided to try stamping directly onto the patterned paper.  I thought it was a bit of a risk since I wanted to color the image with Copic markers.  Sometimes the inks don’t blend so well on certain papers.  But I’m pleased with the result here.  In actuality, there wasn’t really all that much coloring to be done as this Inkadinkado owl image is highly shaded already.  I added some browns, colored in the moon then softened it a bit with the colorless blender pen, added a touch of orange for the beak and green for the eyes.  The white dots of the eyes were added with a white gel pen.

To add that “scratchy” look on the background paper, I lightly stamped Inka’s feather stamp using distress ink (which I also used to sponge the edges).

The little stitches were made using a piercing template, linen thread and a needle.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day! :)
