Welcome Baby

Here’s another design using Anna’s new set, Bundle of Joy, by Whipper Snapper Designs.   I used my favorite image in the set, the little pea pod baby.  Awwww…  :)

Welcome Baby

wb350Using Brillance Graphite Black ink, I stamped the image onto vanilla cardstock, then again onto solid green and solid pink.  The pea pod and pink blanket are paper-pieced, with the front leaf popped up on a dimensional.  I colored in the little face with Copic markers, then outlined the image with a Cool Gray Copic.

I used my corner rounder to make the scallops, adding the flower eyelets with my Crop-a-dile.

More designs coming soon!

Truly a Bundle of Joy!

What a nice surprise to be asked by the mega-talented Anna Wight to be a Guest Designer for her new line of stamps with Whipper Snapper Designs!   Yes, yes, YES!!  I was just a bit excited (lol) and even more so when I saw the first set, Bundle of Joy.

Congratulations

ZTRI can’t show a baby frame without a cute baby, right? Meet my nephew, Zack.  Isn’t he cute?  Actually, he’s five now but still totally adorable.

I thought I’d make a little gift set using the sailboat and star.  The frame was a Target Dollar Spot find.  Since the photo is not covered by glass but a thin, removable piece of plastic, I had to be creative in getting the sailboat to appear to “float” over the photo.   I stamped the image onto a transparency using black Stazon then paper-pieced the sailboat, stamping onto the back sides of the Crate Cowboy patterned paper.  Once the pieces were adhered to the transparency, I carefully cut around the sailboat, and attached the water to the backside of the patterned paper frame cover.  (The actual boat is not attached to anything but upheld by the transparency.)

Don’t miss out on samples by Anna’s other March/April designers.  I think we all had a fun time with this set!BOJ

Trees Teach Us

My Lizzie Anne Designs focus set this month is In the Treetop, another of their latest releases, and my first sample fits this week’s WT challenge at SCS–to use patterned paper…for the entire card front…even the focal panel.  I love stamping directly onto patterned paper and many of the packages and paper pads available today have “solid-ish” pieces that match the patterns perfectly.  (I also like to use the solid-ish pieces to cover a white or vanilla card front if I don’t have cardstock to match.)

TTU1

For this card, I used Basic Grey Perhaps.  The closest ink match I could find to the green was Wild Wasabi, but it was too dark (in my opinion) for the leaves, so I stamped off once before stamping onto the patterned paper.  And I stamped some leaves a second time without reinking the stamp.

Once the tree was stamped, I traced over the leaf and flower lines with a white gel pen to tie into the bits of white on the patterned paper.  I also partially outlined the bird with a Cocoa marker after stamping.  The sentiment is stamped in Chocolate. (I often like to stamp sentiments a bit darker than the other colors on the card or I feel they sometimes get kind of lost.)

I’ll have more In the Treetop samples soon!  Thanks so much for stopping by, thanks SO much for all the wonderful comments on my daughter’s birthday card…I’m completely overwhelmed…AND don’t forget to check out Jacksonbelle Embellishments–new store!  Use code Opening02 to get 15% off your entire order through March 31st!  I’ll be back tomorrow with some things I’ve been very anxious to share!!! :)  Have a great day!

Glitter (and issues) Galore

Today is my little girl’s birthday.  I can’t believe it’s been six years since I held my”little” 10 lb. 2 oz. bundle for the first time.   (Nothing like giving birth to a two-month old, lol.)  Since “pink” and ”sparkly” are among her favorite things, I wanted to make a card that was just that…really pink and really sparkly.  Little did I know it would take me *forever*.

For the images, I chose ”Once Upon a Time” by Lizzie Anne Designs and super-sparkly Making Memories Garden Party paper.

Happy Birthday

HBK3I made one mistake after another…  I began by stamping the crown, then used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the girl.  Did I mask the crown first?  Noooo.  So I stamped the crown again, masked it and stamped the girl. I waited a few minutes, started coloring her skin with a marker…did I wait long enough for the ink to dry?  Nooooo. The ink bled all over her face.  So I started over.  I finally got the girl all stamped and colored.  I wanted the sentiment to be in the lower right corner of the white panel.  I used my marker to color the sentiment (I was stacking the words instead of leaving them in a straight line), used my Stamp-a-ma-jig so the words would be straight….yep, they were straight…and UPSIDE DOWN.  UGH!  So I cut off the bottom (thus the “out of the box” dress) and I tried again.  I markered the stamp, stamped it straight…there was too much ink on the stamp and it bled all over the place.  At that point, had this card been for anything or anyone other than my daughter, it would have been in the trash, but I was determined to make this card for her.  I wanted to put the dragon at the top, sprinkling glitter down from the wand, but I had to use him to cover up my big mess.  I curled the dragon’s wings a little and did not attach his tail to the card so he looks like he’s popping off the paper a bit.  The little frog is popped up on a dimensional.

So YAY, it’s finally done.  It’s WAY busy for me but I think she’ll really like it.

Thanks so much for looking!  And have a super-sparkly day!

Hey Chick!

Monday, monday, nah nah, nah nah nah….  I have that song stuck in my head.  (Sorry…now you probably do, too.)  Just be glad you can’t hear me singing it. :)

Hey Chick!

HCMFTToday, I used the My Favorite Things Monday sketch and the new MFT set, Eggstra Special Easter

I have a *lot* of fairly old patterned paper so I decided this week I’m going to use it (or at least some of it).  The saffron-ish solid on the back of the print made it easy to choose a coordinating color.  I paper-pieced the tulips as well as the leaves.  I just colored over the leaves with a very light gray marker to give them a bit of a darker tint without too green.  The grass I just scribbled in with a marker and the bigger chick is raised on pop dots.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Happy Day

Published by Michele Boyer under Elzybells, My Designs

I got my new Spring Elzybells!!  And oh my gosh, I *love* them!!!  I only ordered three…now I wish I’d gotten more.  I’ve been doing a bit of playing, and yes, I’m still using that Imaginisce “For Peep’s Sake” paper.  (I hope you don’t get sick of it because you’ll be seeing even more.)

Happy Day

HDCL

This is a very simple 4 1/4″ square card.  I used reinkers to color the image then outlined with a Cool Gray Copic.  (I’ve decided I need to get a few of the lightest color shades so I can have background color.  White is getting kind of boring.)

To add a little interest to the card, I covered the flower center, ladybug and egg with a clear gel pen.  When I filled in the egg, I did not go over the crack so it really does look like it has a crack in it.

The ribbon was colored with a Copic.  (Custom ribbon every time! :) )

Speaking of ribbon (and lots of other fun stuff)….Lindsey has opened her NEW STORE!  It’s so much nicer, so much easier!  And even better, if you use the code Opening02, you can get 15% off your order through the end of March!! WOOHOO!  She’ll be adding lots of fun new stuff soon, so be sure to check back!

(ETA:  New code -Opening02- will work with no minimum purchase.  Lindsey’s still working out the kinks.  Thanks!)

Thanks so much for stopping by.  We may have a sick little girl here and we had planned a birthday party for her tonight.  Hmmmm….not sure how today will go.  I hope you all have a great weekend!

(I got the directions for a “signature” …or in my case “initial”… from Broni who got it from Katie’s post here.  Very cool! Thanks, you guys!)

Easter Greetings…a sketch

Published by Michele Boyer under C.C. Designs, My Designs

It’s been so nice here, I’ve been in the mood for Easter and spring, so I thought I’d use my current favorite Easter-themed paper, “For Peep’s Sake” by Imaginisce and a little Bunny Ears stamp by C.C. Designs.

Easter Greetings

EGCCD

I stamped the duck/bunny with Stazon onto Bazzill Coconut Smoothies, colored him with SU reinkers, then outlined him with a Cool Gray Copic.  I paper-pieced the eggs and added some glittery dots with a clear glitter pen.   The layout is from AmyR’s Friday sketch challenge.

Don’t forget about the C.C. Designs Rubber Stamp contest!  You could win *all* of the April releases…and there are quite a few.  It’s a “first birthday” celebration for C.C. Designs! The contest runs through March 20.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  TGIF!

Live, Love, Bloom

Good morning!  I thought I’d do this week’s Splitcoast sketch challenge really quick before I get going…it didn’t go as quickly as I had hoped, but I think I’m happy with it nonetheless.

Live, Love, Bloom

LLB

I used the new Afternoon Tea designer paper by Stampin’ Up (again…because I *LOVE* it)!

To stamp the flower (from The Rummage Bin “Beautiful” set by Cornish Heritage Farms), I inked the whole thing with Groovy Guava then used a Chocolate Chip marker in the center.  I also dragged the brush end of the marker along some of the petal edges.  After stamping  onto the vanilla cardstock, I added some extra dots in the center with the small tip of the Chocolate marker.  Next, I used a waterbrush with Cocoa ink to add a bit of color in the blank spaces of the petals.

I lightly stamped the Burlap backgrounder (also by CHF) over the focal point, sponged the edges and added a few faux stitches here and there.  I also dirtied up the ribbon a bit because it seemed slightly too bright for the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Happy Birthday, Girlie Chick!

Published by Michele Boyer under My Designs

I popped into Splitcoast this morning to check out the color challenge and it sounded like a bright, fun combo…Purely Pomegranate, Wild Wasabi and So Saffron.  Since I need quite a few birthday cards this month, I thought I’d get started.

Happy Birthday

HGGC

I used my new favorite white cardstock for watercoloring, Bazzill Coconut Smoothies.   After coloring the image, I outlined a bit with a Cool Gray Copic marker.  The dotted background is by C.C. Designs and the focal image is raised on foam squares.  I used just a dot of orange Stickles on the daisy for just a tiny pop of sparkle.  The “floor” line was drawn in with a black SU marker.  I always use my Stamp-a-ma-jig imaging sheet as my straight edge.  Since it’s clear, I’m able to put the line just where I want it (and I use it so much anyway, it’s always on the table).

Thanks for stopping by!  I need to go convince my daughter that she does indeed want to go to school today.  :)  Have a great day!

ETA:  I got my chickie stamp here from All That Scraps.  They’re sold out at the moment, but you can get on the waitlist if you’d like.  Christine will send an email when they’re back in stock. :)

Cardstock:  Purely Pomegranate, Wild Wasabi, So Saffron, Bazzill Coconut Smoothies   Stamps:  Stampendous “Girlie Chick,” A Muse “Happy Birthday” and C.C. Bendy Ovals and Happy Trails

Good morning!  My Favorite Things has two fun new releases this week, Punch a Bunch and Ride Em’ Cowgirl available Wednesday, March 5.  Check out the MFT forum for details!

Bloomin’ Wonderful

BW3This card uses the new Punch a Bunch set which is actually designed to be used with the Marvy oval punches.  There are oval frames, words to fit inside the frames and several sets of flowers and stems.

I chose to use one of the word strips, bending it a bit into the shape of a flower petal.  (It reads “Hope your day is bloomin’ wonderful.”)  I then stamped one of the flower bunches in the center and added the tiny white brads as accents.  The flower itself is raised on foam squares, as is the panel beneath it.

Cardstock:  SU Soft Sky, Papertrey Ink white   Patterned Paper:  SU Afternoon Tea DSP  Stamps:  My Favorite Things “Punch a Bunch”    Ink:  SU Soft Sky   Accessories:  Queen & Co. white sprinkle brads  white taffeta, foam squares.  Card size 4 ¼” x 4 ¼”.
Happy Trails

HT

And here’s Ride Em’ Cowgirl!  How fun!  I stamped the girl onto Naturals Ivory cardstock twice… once for the base and once for the arm and rope.  I stamped the dress portion on the blue paper, the boots on brown and the ground on green.  I cut the arm and rope as one, only adhering the arm and top of the rope, then I lightly bent the ends of the rope so they’re slightly lifted from the card.

ETA:  If you decide to sponge AFTER you put the card together, you might want to mask the arm… otherwise you’ll have a girl with a hairy arm.  Don’t look too closely.  lol.)

Cardstock:  SU Chocolate Chip, Naturals Ivory   Patterned Paper: We R Memory Keepers Boho Chic Luscious Lace and Funky Fix  Stamps:  My Favorite Things “Ride Em’ Cowgirl”    Ink:  Brilliance Graphite Black, Ranger Walnut Distress   Accessories:  Copic markers, SU Chocolate Chip marker, mat pack/needle, hemp, Karen Foster Cowboy charm, pop dots.  Card size5 ½” x 4 ¼”.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!
