Big Inspiration

Published by Shel9999 at 7:02 am under Cornish Heritage Farms, My Designs

Hi!!  It’s almost the weekend!  I’m especially excited because my son will have his first swim meet of the season on Saturday.  I’ll be yawning and bleary-eyed at the pool by 5:45 (yes, a.m.) but oh so proud!  Since we were undefeated last year, we’ve actually moved up two divisions so it’ll be interesting to see how well we do.  I can’t wait!

There’s a new sentiment set available at Cornish Heritage Farms today (6/12).

“Inspire” is one of six big chunky words from the Big Inspiration set.   I love the distressed style of this font.  I’ve paired it with Nature Silhouettes from the Kim Hughes Collection.

I’m not used to making cards without some kind of doo-dad(s) so I had a bit of a time deciding what to do with the image once it was stamped.  In the end, I decided to add some wonky stitching around three of the sides and the little strip of zig-zag in the one corner.

IC220One of the things I like to do when I have a big image that seems to take up most of the card front is to offset some of the layers (as opposed to having equal borders).  It adds just a bit of difference but more interest, I think.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

If you haven’t already done so, please comment on the post below for a chance to win one of my two give-aways!

Cardstock:  Prism Papaya Puree Medium, Suede Brown Dark, Natural Smooth   Stamps:  Cornish Heritage Farms “Nature Silhouettes (Kim Hughes Collection), “Big Inspiration” (Mona Lisa Moments)   Ink:  Ranger Brushed Corduroy and Dried Marigold Distress   Accessories:  Sewing machine, sponge.  Card size 5 ½” x 4 ¼”.

Great card. I really like the way you offset the layers. I never though about doing that. Wow, learn something new today! Off to CHF and check out the new stamps!

Thanks for the tip on offset… going to use it on my next card!

Beautiful card! Thanks for the offset tip, I see how that works. I like a bit of asymmetry every now and again. Why, oh why CHF did you have to do yet another release. Do you have no sympathy for one with no chance of saying “no”? You know how I love the smell of fresh cut rubber… Okay, enough waxing poetically, I guess I will head over to the store and see what they have now that I will most likely have to have added to my collection!

Michele, you enabler! I just had to go and buy the Big Inspiration set. And did I stop at that???? Oh no. It’s all your fault! :0) Love your card, BTW.

I do like the font style! but of course your card is just wonderful! those colors are perfect and the offset matting is clever, as always! I can’t sew worth beans, so I’m going to try to figure out some other way to accent the corner. thanks for the inspiration!
