Continuing with the Theme…and a challenge

Published by Shel9999 at 9:50 am under Cornish Heritage Farms, My Designs

At Cornish Heritage Farms it’s Christmas in July all month long with lots of holiday releases, from cute to classic and lots in between.  Today I’ve used one of the new silhouette images designed by Aimee Nugent (available July 11th) and the new Christmas Expressions by Mona Lisa Moments (available July 10th).

Joy Peace Hope

JHP4The challenge this week at CHF if to use a leafing pen.  I had heard of leafing pens, but I had no clue what to do with one.  So after getting some ideas from the other CHF designers, I came up with this.  (I couldn’t seem to get a photo without that glare at the bottom.)

I stamped the angel and sentiment onto a Clear Card Sheet, dried it a bit with a heat gun, then stamped the dots on the back side of the sheet, removing the dots from the back of the angel before drying again with the heat gun.

I cut a frame from the patterned paper and adhered the clear sheet to the back side.  I outlined the clear sheet with a copper leafing pen, then cut a scalloped strip, colored it with the leafing pen and cut the pieces to fit the top and bottom sides of the stamped image.  My brads, although copper, did not match so I colored over them with the pen as well.  I zig-zagged around the dark paper border then adhered the whole panel to the cranberry cardstock using foam tape.  I couldn’t capture it in the photo, but the angel looks like she is floating above the gold panel beneath her.  (Another one of those “looks much better in real life” things.)

Be sure to check out these other CHF designer blogs to see what they’ve done with their leafing pens.  I can’t wait to see for myself!
