Technique Talk

Published by Michele Boyer at 9:50 am under Cornish Heritage Farms, My Designs

This week’s challenge at Cornish Heritage Farms is to create a card or project using one of the techniques found in the CHF forums.  (You can find the list here.)  I’m not a fan of most techniques.  There are a few I really like but for the most part, I don’t like creating anything that takes a lot of time or a lot of (unusual) supplies.  But I wanted to participate this week so I clicked over into the technique forum and poked around a bit.  Guess what I found?  My favorite new way to color detailed images.  This technique is perfect for images such as this one, The Light of Peace by Thomas Kinkade.

Thinking of You

LOPTOY

I have been so intimidated by coloring these images, but I could not believe how much easier it was using the Vintage Vellum technique.  There are more detailed instructions in the forum, but basically I used Adirondack Espresso ink to stamp the image, let it dry (patience, patience…not always there so I carefully zapped it with the heat gun), then I colored the image on the back of the vellum with Copic markers.  Wow, I love the results!  I had a hard time getting a nice photo of this card…the image is so soft and actually stands out a bit more here than to look at it in person.  I just love this technique and since I don’t need furniture polish or marbles to do it, I’ll be doing it again.  (This card is on its way to my uncle who was just released from the hospital after almost dehydrating himself to death.  Scary!)

Be sure to check out these other CHF designers to see which techniques they used:  Julia, Lisa Silver, Dawn, Kim, Kristine and Sherrie.  You never know, you might find a new favorite!

Also, tomorrow, August 5th, kicks off Julia’s Clear Holiday Gift Tags class at CHF.  Click on the photo below for more details!

Thanks for looking!  Have a great day!  (And remember to drink lots of water in this nasty heat!)

It’s gorgeous, Michele! I’m like you in that I don’t usually want to try any new techniques if there are detailed instructions! But this technique I’ve tried and I like it!

Love all your stuff. How do you sign up and can you still get the info if you aren’t home during the class? I thought I had a user thing for CHF but it didn’t work so. I am in a bit of a hurry but just love the snowflake one as well as yours. I hope to try your technique soon.

I am sure your uncle will love the card. Hope he is doing o.k.

This is stunning Michele! Coloring on the back of vellum has been one of my faves for years. Perfect with the TK. So sorry about your uncle! How scary! Hope he is recovered to full health quickly!

Very pretty Michele! I had to laugh at your comment about techniques-I feel the same way! I always feel guilty that I don’t try them but frankly I am too lazy. Is that bad? Glad to hear your uncle is recovered-very scary indeed. He’s gonna love this card!

This is absolutely gorgeous! I may want to give it a try when by some miracle I find some extra time. I’m not a technique lover, either, but I do enjoy coloring. Thanks for this great example, Michele!
