‘Grungy’ Monday

Published by Michele Boyer at 9:55 am under Cornish Heritage Farms, My Designs

Did you hear there are three new chicks on the farm? Carole Burrage, Joanne Allison and Jennifer Roach just joined the CHF Design Team!!  YAY!!  Welcome, gals!!!

Ok…it’s not really a grungy Monday but today’s challenge at Cornish Heritage Farms is to use Tim Holtz Idea-ology Grungeboard …which, by the way, is on sale at CHF so it’s a great time to try it!  I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this stuff, but it’s fun!  (Here is a direct link to the challenge thread if you’d like to play.)

(I’m not really sure where this card came from.   It’s not my usual style…if you hate it, please be kind. lol)

Live ~ Love ~ Laugh

What exactly is grungeboard?  It’s similar to chipboard but flexible, and it won’t bend or tear.  You can paint it, ink it, whatever you want.

I used a sponge to apply Ranger Walnut Stain Distress ink to the grungeboard pieces then used the ink pad directly on the edges for more intense color.  A Q-tip worked great for the eye holes.   After inserting a jump ring in the nose holes (I can’t believe I’m talking about Q-tips in eyeballs and rings in nose holes), I adhered the pieces using Tombow Mono Multi.

I used several sets from The Rummage Bin line to create the swirls and sentiment, and the tiny words are from two Mona Lisa Moments sets, Sassy Petities and Everyday Petites which will be released Thursday, August 14th.   (Also released on the 14th will be a great set of Train Expressions to go with those new Thomas the Tank Engine stamps.  I so wish those were available five years ago!)

LLLCuI stitched the word labels a little differently this time (trying to be a bit more “grungy,” I guess).  I used a zig-zag stitch on the left side of each and then I stitched one little stitch three times on the right.  It took a bit of extra time but I like how it looks.  Here’s a close-up…>

Be sure to check out these other CHF designers to see how they used their grungeboard:

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!
