‘Crooked, Run over and Brown’
That’s the answer I got when I asked my husband if this card looked ok.
(I knew he’d say that.) Actually, these are my three favorite things to do when creating a card…stagger layers, distress and use brown. (We tease my father-in-law about that being his favorite color but it’s mine too. Shhhhh!)
Today’s challenge at Cornish Heritage Farms is to use our favorite product from the CHF store. I didn’t hesitate in making my choice.
Special to Me
Probably my most used ink, second to black, is Walnut Stain Distress ink by Ranger. I don’t even bother to put it away. It stays on my table with it’s dedicated wedge of sponge.
I used it here for the flower and Peeled Paint for the stem. Before stamping, I stamped off gently, once onto scrap paper, then stamped the image four times onto Natural Smooth cardstock without reinking between impressions. I also used the Walnut Stain ink to sponge the edges of the focal piece. (That ink makes the best dirty edges!!)
Be sure to check out these other CHF designers to see their favorite product and what they did with it:
While I was finishing my card, my daughter (she’s six) came into my room and asked if she could make a card for me. I let her choose the paper and she told me which stamp set she wanted. Here’s what she made. Awwww….I love the little cards and drawings I find here and there that say “To Mom. I love you. From Katie.” Before long I’ll be finding those notes less and less frequently so for now, each one is a treasure. (Look at how straight that white paper is! I think I have a little stamper in the making!)
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

Totally love this card. Your daughter’s is very sweet.
Men! I’m in the process of making a recipe book using a stamp of a vintage looking bottle of olive oil. Hubby looks at it and says “what is a 1002 virgin”- the label on the bottle says 100% Virgin as in the type of olive oil!!!! I totally love your beautiful distressed card! I will definitely remember the button and ribbon element for my inspiration book! Aren’t cards for your little ones the BEST!!!!
Gorgeous card and sooo you M! Love it!!! What a darling card Katie made! She’s a pro already!
Oh, Katie’s card is so awesome - what a sweetie you have, and how fun she likes to stamp! I hope she continues to want to stamp with you.

Oh, how special is that? I love when my guy makes me cards and pictures too. So sweet!
oops, love your card too! my favorite distressed look-crooked, run over, and brown. Your hubby is daring-I don’t think mine would say that to me…well, maybe. Ok, he would, but he’d smile
What a gorgeous card M! I love the colors you used! Awww about the Katie card!! So dang cute!
You do the BEST browns, Michele! And, yes, you knew your husband would say that.. Now, your six year old daughter made that card? It’s fabulous! I can hardly believe it was made by a six year old. Her image is incredibly straight. That’s quite an accomplishment. It would be cool if she kept it up. Think how good she’ll be at it in a few years!
ooooh I LOVE this, M! Nobody does browns like you, baby!
Look at Katie’s card….awwwwwwww
The walnut stained card is definitely *you*! And I love it! I love the peeled paint and walnut together! Yummy! And Katie’s card is adorable!
Your card is so gorgeous, Michele…and I have to say…no one else distresses quite like you. *wink* (Your comment about walnut stain reminded me that I accidentally bought another pad last weekend, when I couldn’t remember the distress ink I needed. Doh!)
Katie’s card is just as sweet as can be!!
