Little Sparrow, Little Sparrow
Just pretend I’m listening to David Cook…”little sparrow, little sparrow…” I love what he did with that song (along with everything else he sang). Anyway…
A fairly quick post from me today. I’m shuffling children and this afternoon my son has his presurgery check-up with the pediatrician. We met earlier this week with the surgeon, I have a couple more forms to fill out and a phone call or two to make and we’re ready for next Tuesday’s eye surgery. I just want this to be over with. I’m not liking this August pattern that has developed over the last two summers.
Happy Birthday
This is one of my favorite images from Inkadinkado. (You can find it here at Jacksonbelle Embellishments along with many new adorable Halloween images!)
It’s a bit hard to see in this photo, but I used my Nestabilities for the first time! I love them and want MORE! I clipped around the tail feathers, going in with the scissors as far as the die would go, then just lifted the tail out before cutting and embossing. Super easy!
I used Copic markers to color the image, outlining with two shades of gray.
After I zig-zagged those two lines of stitches, I decided I didn’t like the color so I lightly colored over the stitches with a gray marker. (Much better.)
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a super Wednesday!!!

Oh this is SO pretty!
Gorgeous Michele! Your coloring is perfect and love the layout too!
I love it. Have that image and just haven’t inked it up yet. You’ve inspired me to do just that and soon.
You are a coloring queen! It’s far better than perfect!
I think I understand about the tail. You clipped it and then hung the tail out above the nestie so it would not be cut or embossed. Hope that’s right because I’ve got to try it. Love that look. Beautiful card!
Girl, this is your FIRST time using Nestabilities and you cut around the tail? wow! I wanna be U when I grow up. LOL.
This is gorgeous! I haven’t inked my bird up yet, but I love how you colored this and how his tail hangs out of the frame! Fantabulous!
I love this card and I ordered the stamp. One question, what is nestabilities? I tried to search it but didn’t come up with anything.
OMGOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW! I love how you colored it, LOVE the papers too! Great job M!
SO beautiful, Michele! Love the cut-out tail!
I’ll keep you and your family in my prayers as the surgery draws near — hugs!
Never trust the hearts of men……
OHHHH, wow…the bird is Perfection!!! I LOVE It!
This is beautiful! I love that bird–I have it too but I have such a hard time with the coloring. I’m never quite satisfied. Yours on the other hand is superb. Thanks for the inspiration.
oh WOW M, that is a gorgeous card. LOVE the popped out tail!
Beautiful; love everything about it!!!
Adorable… love the bird with the Cosmo Cricket paper!
Gorgeous, Michelle! Amazing.
Awesome! What a super idea about cutting the tail out first. I’ve wanted to end up with what you have, but couldn’t ‘t figure it out - thanks for the idea! Your card is beautiful.
What a beautiful card and what awesome paper! The coloring on the bird is wonderful!! And I LOVED the way David sang that song!!
Gorgeous, Michele! Big fan of David Cook here, too. From the moment I learned he lived in Tulsa (I’m guessing he’s moved since Idol, however… Well, at least we still have Hanson and their 8 million offspring living among us…). Hope Joe is doing well, and his mom, too. : )
beautiful card!
And I was just listening to his version yesterday! I think I play his always be my baby to death, lol!
Your coloring is so pretty on that bird, and I love your patterned papers and sewing!!
gorgeous great paper and another perfect bird!
LOVE this card — great papers and colors and what a gorgeous bird, for sure!!! Love, too, how you have his tail out of the box — great job!!! I don’t know what I’d do without my Nesties — once I finally got going with them, gee — the skies the limit!!! Now wishing for new ones — LOL!!!
