Minnie? Minnie Pearl?

Published by Michele Boyer at 9:00 am under Cornish Heritage Farms, My Designs

Happy Thursday!  Today Julia’s challenge at SCS is to use pearls…Mother of Pearl technique, Perfect Pearls, liquid pearls, faux pearls, etc.  Since I had just purchased these little faux pearls from Michaels, and since I’d already stamped the cake and adhered the little babies in the circles, I thought I’d use that! :)  (Gotta love those head starts!)

So Happy For You

       SHFY2

My next problem though…what to do with the cake.  Some days I feel so creative, others…nada.  It comes and goes in spurts.   I get lots of ideas of what to do with stamped images, but when it comes to layouts, and sometimes even colors, I just draw a blank.

I have a list of stampers (in my head) whose work I truly admire and when I’m getting no clue as to what to do, I check out their galleries or blogs for a little inspiration…or a lot of inspiration which was the case here.  This layout was heavily inspired by Cindy Haffner, a very talented lady who pops out awesome cards one after the other.  I don’t know how she does it.

I tried to fit a sentiment on the front but it just didn’t work out so it’s on the inside.  I’ve always thought cards looked kind of naked without a sentiment but I’m noticing more and more sentiments saved for the inside.  I’m beginning to really like that.  What do you think?  Do cards look naked without a sentiment?

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Stamps:  Cornish Heritage Farms “I Thee Wed” and “The Birds and The Bees” (Kim Hughes Collection)   Ink:  Adirondack Pitch Black   Cardstock:  Prism Suede Brown Dark, Natural Smooth   Patterned Paper:  My Mind’s Eye Wild Asparagus “Baby Girl” Dots/Light Pink Paper   Accessories:  Pearls by Michaels, Brads by American Crafts, piercing template/needle, ribbon by Morex, pop dots.

Well, this is just gorgeous Michele! I hear ya with the sentiment thing. There are so many great sentiments I just want to use them all and let everyone see!! But then what do you put on the inside? How many words do you need on a card? LOL! Such important questions in my life!! LOL!

Beautiful Michele! Love how you’ve decorated the cake…gorgeous! This layout is wonderful and I think it looks fine without a sentiment, sometimes I have dressed up the inside of my cards and stamped the sentiment there. Gives someone MORE to look forward to once opening it up ;)

I love the warmth and elegance of this card in these colors! I just noticed your title….Howwwwdeee! And I don’t think cards HAVE to have an outside sentiment. I like the option of being able to use a card for any occasion.

I just love this color combination. What a pretty card.
I think it looks perfect without a sentiment.

Just love what you did here! The pears along the borders are perfect. Fun, fabulous card!

Beautiful card Michele! I love how the little pearls are echoed with the designer paper. As far as sentiments, I do both. I struggle with the ‘blankness’ of the inside of my cards so a sentiment is a nice filler. Of course, then I feel like I need to decorate the inside even more which can either be a good thing or a disaster! LOL. Your card is perfect without an outside sentiment. The size of the image, multiple layers and yummy ribbon make the card gorgeous.

This one does not look naked!! Do you have something against a nude??? What is the real issue here?? I think you need therapy! :D

LOL…Love the card, naked or not!

I love your card. The pearls make it look so very elegant! I don’t think it needs a sentiment on the outside. I’ve pretty much stopped doing that on mine if it’s an all occasion type card. That way I can make it fit the occasion with an inside sentiment later when I’m ready to send it.

I think it depends on the card, whether it looks naked or not. This one most definitely does not! There is plenty going on, so its not missed at all. A lot of times I dont have a sentiment on the front of my cards because I dont know exactly what they want to be yet when I finish them. When I do put a sentiment on it, its usually the wrong one needed a little while later and I have to make a different card for “right now”. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing with us :)

I love the tiny pearls on this! What an adorable card! I do the same thing…finish the card and then the sentiment doesn’t fit into my design, so I frequently put them on the inside. And most of the time I don’t put any sentiment in or on the card until I am ready to use it if it’s not a specific design.

I find it hard to believe that you ever have design or color issues…your work is always wonderful and you are one of the people I turn to for inspiration! Keep it up!

I don’t know how she does it either, Cindy is incredibly talented, just as you are! This is beautiful, love the pearls, makes it so elegant…and it looks great without a sentiment. Have a wonderful weekend!
