April Release Hippety-Hop with MFT

Hi everyone!  Welcome to the April New Release blog hop with My Favorite Things!  If you’re just popping in here, you may want to hop on over to the beginning with Kim.  (You don’t want to miss anything, do you?)

As I mentioned the other day, this month there are four new releases:  Girls Night Out, Ben Paper Dolls, Cuddle Up Carter and Flopsey’s Flowers.

I’m Sorry

     ISFF

Flopsey is looking a little forlorn.  I’m not sure if he did something wrong or if he’s just feeling sorry for a friend.  Either way, he’s cute FFCUholding his little bouquet.

After stamping and coloring the image, I stamped the flowers a second time, colored, cut them out and then added them to the bunch, flipping them over so the bouquet is now full and round.  I added ultra-mini black brads to the flower centers and colored over his eyes with a black 3-d gel pen to add definition, a bit of dimension and some shine.

Next up on the blog hop list is the very sweet and very talented Jessie!  A couple more important things before you go…

  • There’s a New Release Cocktail Party in the MFT Forum from 9 p.m. EST – 10 p.m. EST tonight (Wednesday, 4/1).
  • New sets go live at 10 p.m. EST.
  • First 50: potluck
Hook-up: April collection $51.90 retail, on sale for $49.95 if purchased within the first 48 hours after the release.
  • And last but not least, don’t forget to vote for your favorite MFT Idol(s).  These gals have been coming up with some **AMAZING** stuff!  See their submissions here and vote here.  Polls are open until 10 p.m. tonight (4/1)!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Enjoy the hop! 🙂

Weekly Spotlight 3/30-4/03

MFTWSTGIM!

This week’s spotlight with My Favorite Things is on this month’s new release sets.  On Wednesday four new sets will be available with MFT, including the one I’ve used here, Cuddle Up Carter.   It’s our newest charity set with $2.00 from every set sold over the next six months going to benefit kids with Cerebral Palsy (like Carole‘s son, Carter) via the non-profit Euro-Peds clinic (www.europeds.org) in Pontiac, Michigan.

Let’s Cuddle Up

I used my Copics to color this little guy, then popped up the focal panel (from the yellow up) and the whole front of the card (again, from the yellow up).

MFT is having a New Release Cocktail Party on Wednesday, April 1st from 9-10 PM EASTERN.  Head over to the MFT forum to find out all the details and to find out how YOU can be the next MFT Guest Designer. We hope to see you there on Wednesday night.

And don’t forget to check out the Bubble Bin

My posts over the next several days will probably be a bit short as I’m gearing up for vacation and nearing that state of pre-packing frenzy.  (I hope to have a few things to show you while I’m gone too.)

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!  🙂

Hangin’ with my Peeps

Hi everyone!  I have a card to share that I made for this month’s release with My Favorite Things. Somehow it never made it to my blog.

Sitting here…

      SHWYW

Isn’t that a GREAT sentiment? 🙂

I went way overboard on the paper-piecing.  (I was seriously questioning my own sanity.)  The entire thing is paper-pieced.  I even cut between the slats on the bench so that the background (wallpaper) MFTCUwould show through the spaces.  The only parts I actually colored were the skin, chicks and bench, and even those were all cut out and assembled.

I like the end result, but it was definately labor-intensive.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Just For Fun (Unity-style)

WOOHOO!  It’s time for our monthly challenge with the JiFFy girls… Lori, Carole, Alli and Julie!  And this month we have a special guest, Sharon Harnist!  🙂   Lori is visiting with Sharon and made her card there, so we thought it would be perfect for Sharon to play along too!  (Thanks for saying “yes,” Sharon!)

This month Lori chose this adorable image from Unity called Neighborhood of Simplicity which can be found in the Pixie Lane set.  For this month’s paper, I chose My Mind’s Eye Bloom & Grow Eye Candy (and then covered up most of it).  Rolling Eyes

The Road to a Friend’s House

     RTAFH

I colored the image with Copics (and have had several questions as to which colors I’m using so I will *try* to remember to include that information from now on in the card supply list).  The entire front panel is raised on pop dots, as is the main image (from the Saffron panel up).

Be sure to check out what Lori, Carole, AlliJulie and Sharon have done with the same image and paper! 🙂   (I love these challenges!)

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Happy Birthday

Hi everyone!  We’re putting off our JFF challenge for a bit so in the meantime, I thought I’d share this birthday card.  I made a similar one for my little niece who turns five this week.  (Happy birthday, Amy!!!)

Happy Birthday

My daughter helped me place my last Whipper Snapper order and this image was among her requests.

I wanted to use Primas for the flowers but I didn’t have the right color, nor did I have an assortment of similar shapes among different sizes to color with my Copics.  So instead I punched my flowers from the cardstock.  (That’s one way to get a perfect match, eh?  Not quite the same look as Primas but it works.)

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

Tagged (x3)

Hi everyone!  I don’t usually do these things, mostly because by the time I get it, everyone has already been tagged.  But I was tagged by three friends (all in one day–thank you Lori, Carole and Amy! lol) so I thought I better do this one. 🙂

I’m to post my sixth photo in my sixth photo folder and look what I found…my children acting like they actually like one another.

      JKD

We’d just spent a busy day in Disney.  Here we’re leaving the park.  I noticed this small moment of camaraderie and asked my husband to quickly take a picture so we’d have proof that they sometimes do get along.  Usually if one touches the other in any way, it becomes a big battle of name-calling, tattling and shouting.

I’m now supposed to choose six friends to tag…but honestly, I think everyone has already done it!  So I’m going to be a party-pooper and not tag anyone.  (I’m sorry.)

Thanks for stopping by!  I’ll be back tomorrow with our monthly JFF Challenge (I think…if not I’ll have something else for you to see.)   Have a great day! 🙂

This is Cupcake Flopsey.  (This set is currently out of stock but I’m sure it’ll be back soon!  He’s a popular little guy…or girl!)

MFTWNCUI paper-pieced and popped up the cupcake then added a tiny little flower on Flopsey’s ear.  (I picked up the flower punch long ago from the dollar bin at Target.)

And look…I used flowers again!  🙂

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

A Case of One’s Self

It’s been quite a while since I’ve played in one of the Dirty Dozen monthly challenges, but I couldn’t pass this one by.  We were to choose our oldest card in our gallery (or one of THE oldest) and case it, making at least three subtle changes.   It’s kind of funny to look back at those older cards.   (Actually, it IS funny, and some are quite embarassing!)

Happy Birthday–Then

This was my very first upload into Splitcoast Stampers back in February of 2005.  It’s hard to believe that was four years ago!  Look at that awful scan. So drab.  And no patterned paper.  Why would I add DTP to this?  I like the little knotted “ribbon” though and the bling collar.

I suppose it’s not too bad but there were definately things I would change.  (I tried not to change too much.)

Happy Birthday–Now

HBC

I kept the same basic layout and the buttons but changed the stamps, added some matting, raised a couple of panels, substituted patterned HBCCUpaper for the background and popped up a couple of elements within the stamped image.

If you’d like to see how other Dirty Dozen members (current and Alumni) have cased themselves, you can check it out here.  This was a fun challenge!  🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Stamp It! Cards and Moxie Fab Give-aways!

Stamping HeavenI love stamping (obviously) and look forward to my paper crafting magazines making their way into my mailbox each month.  But one of my favorite publications is Paper Crafts’ new Stamp It! Cards because it focuses solely on stamping (and because it’s fabulous).

In Stamp It! Cards there are so many great ideas and such wonderful inspiration.  You can find it in your local craft or book store, or on-line here.

Have you been to Cath’s Moxie Fab World?  There’s a party going on over there!  Be sure to leave a comment for a chance to win a copy of Stamp It! Cards, American Crafts stamps and embossing powder as well as a potpourri of stamps from other great manufacturers. (Comment on this post by Sunday, March 22nd, for a chance to win 15–yes, FIFTEEN stamp sets!  Wow! Shocked )

AND there are MORE give-aways on the Paper Crafts Connection blog!  Check it out! 🙂

Lots of fun stuff, that’s for sure!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

A Whimsical Gnome

I’ll admit I’ve never been a big fan of gnomes, but this little guy is just irresistable (in my opinion anyway).  But then I love everything designed by Kim Hughes.  She’s so talented… and just as sweet.

Whimsical Wishes

       CHFWW3

This little guy is from one of Kim’s most recent releases, Forest Friendzy.  Such a cute set!  I can’t wait to play with it some more.

WWCU3The gnome was cut out and raised on pop dots.  (I can’t seem to make a flat card. **shrugging**  I like dimension.)  I thought about popping up his nose/moustache but decided in the end that my shading turned out well enough.  (Look at that cute face!!  Hee, hee, hee!   Don’t you just want one?)

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Oh, before I go…if you’re a fan of Shimmerz, Jacksonbelle Embellishments has the newest colors in stock and they’re on sale through Friday!  (There’s one called Choc-o-lot.  Mmmm.)  🙂

Ok…bye!
