Bestest Friends

TGIF! 🙂  I had a bit of time to play around with a new (to me) Stamping Bella image.

Bestest Friends

CHFOFP

I adore these little Huggabugs. My daughter is nuts over them and has named each one after herself and her friends.  Too cute.  🙂

The darker green outfit actually matches the paper but for some reason decided to be difficult in the photo.  (I hate when that happens.)

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

It’s JiFFy Time!

Yes, it’s time for another Just For Fun challenge with the Jiffy girls…Julie, Lori, Alli, Carole and myself.  And guess what?!   I’m happy to say we have a new Jiffy girl…our friend, Kim Hughes!  We’re super-excited to have her join us!     Welcome, Kim!!!

This month Lori chose these two lovely Pink Paislee papers.  (Gorgeous!)  Once the paper was in the mail to the group (but before anyone received it), I chose this frazzled owl by Whimsy Stamps.  Little did I know that Carole has a big aversion to birds, specifically owls.  So, sorry Carole!  But just for the record, if I could have found a way to make this owl’s head turn 360 degrees, I would have done that…JUST FOR YOU!!!  😉

It’s been lovely BUT…

       JFFIBL

I very often feel like screaming…like when my daughter insists on wearing half of last year’s Halloween costume to school.  How about my kids’ incessant arguing, name-calling and tattling.  I’m pretty sure I screamed about the  education my children received from the graffitied walls of a Johnny Potty this weekend.    Yeah.  That was especially nice.   Or how about when I realized that I glued the trim on this card wrong side up.  Oh well.  It is what it is.

Be sure to check out what Julie, Carole, Alli, Lori and Kim have done with this same image and paper.  As always, I can’t WAIT to see!  🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!!!  Have a great day!

We’ve Been Through a Lot…

Yesterday was tons of fun.  My daughter did get in the lake even though it wasn’t clear like the swimming pool.  She drove a boat and also caught a fish.  My son spent lots of time trying to catch a fish too… with his hands.  He was unsuccessful.  (lol)  But it was a great day!

Today is my 11th anniversary.  🙂  This isn’t the card I made for my husband.  I just thought it was funny.  (I actually used a new My Favorite Things set that releases in a couple weeks so I can’t share that just yet.)

Been Through a Lot

The first thing that popped into my mind when I saw this image was “Hmmm…he’s getting an earful.”  So I thought that sentiment went along with it pretty well.

I hope you’ll check back tomorrow for the Jiffy girls’ May “Just For Fun” challenge.  We have a “little” (but big to us) announcement.  🙂

Have a great day!   Thanks for stopping by!

The Big 5-0

My husband’s friend is turning 50 today and his wife has whipped up a little surprise party for him.  The party is at a lake so we’ll see if my children are interested in swimming/playing in water they can’t see through.  (My daughter’s first response was “Are you serious?” lol)

Look Who’s Turning 50

I love Kim’s owl for birthday cards.  I paper-pieced (and popped up) the poof on the hat, and paper-pieced the larger dots on the hat.  I tried coloring them but wasn’t satisfied with the color so my sure-fire way to get a match to the paper is to use the paper. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by!   Enjoy your day!   And don’t forget about Lindsey’s sale.  Code MEMDAY09 gets you 25% off everything at Jacksonbelle Embellishments through Monday.

Hang in There…and a Sale

TGIF!

I’m still working on that little basket of stamps (when I can).  Here’s another of my new Stamping Bella images.

Hang in There

     SBHIT

Is that owl not the cutest?!  The set comes with several different sentiments to stamp onto the sign.

I cut out a few of the tiny flowers and adhered them with rolled glue dots.  This works great for bumping up tiny pieces…until you lay a big book on top.

There’s a big sale going on at Jacksonbelle Embellishments this weekend.  Save 25% off everything in the store, today through Monday (5/25).  Use this code at checkout (all caps):  MEMDAY09.

Have a great day!

Weekly Spotlight 05/20-5/26

PLEASE SCROLL DOWN ONE POST FOR THE MFT BLOG HOP.  THANKS!  🙂

This week’s spotlight with My Favorite Things is on the two new label mini-sets, jars (four for $12, 16 oz. each), Eclipse masking sheet packs and new Adornments shimmer brads (8-10 each pink, 8-10 cream, and 16-20 white).  I used one of the new label sets in yesterday’s post.  Today I’ve used the Eclipse masking sheets and shimmer brads.

Friends Don’t Let Friends Drink Alone

        MFTF

I’ve only used post-it notes for masking, and since the little sticky strip is only across the one end, it can be an interesting task at times.  The Eclipse masking sheets made masking so much easier!

I used the girl from MFT’s Call Me set (she’s actually lounging in a chair) and the margarita glass from “Girl’s Night Out.”   (It looks like both sets are currently out of stock but I’m sure they’ll be back soon!)

How did I do that?  Well, first I had a really big drink.  (Just kidding.  However, when my husband saw this, his first comment was “You know that’s all crooked, right?”  Um…yeah…I know.  Rolling Eyes)

So I stamped the Call Me stamp onto one of the Eclipse masking sheets.  I then cut around the girl, using the negative (chair, wall, phone, etc.) to mask the (cleaned) stamp.  I did not remove the backing from the masking sheet for this step.  The paper clings to the stamp as is.  I inked the stamp, removed the masking sheet and stamped the image onto cardstock.    I then removed the backing from the girl portion of the masking sheet, placed the mask over the girl and stamped the glass.

Shimmer brads are in the corners.

MFT Hop…Changing the way you gift

Welcome to this month’s mid-release hop with My Favorite Things!   If you’re just popping in here, please head over to Kim‘s blog (the very beginning) so you don’t miss anything.

Tomorrow, May 20, MFT is releasing two new mini sets, Time for the Bubbly label and Teacher label.  Other products being released include jars sized to fit the label stamp sets (sold in packs of four, 16 oz. each), Stephanie Fizer Papers – School Collection digi paper pack, Eclipse Masking Sheet packs and Adornments Shimmer brads (8-10 each pink, 8-10 cream, and 16-20 white).

Each of the design team members have filled a jar with their own “something special.”  I turned mine into a little calendar for a special teacher.

To My Favorite Teacher

          MFTCJ

MFTTLI stamped the label twice (onto patterned paper and cardstock) then placed two magnetic strips between the layers.  The months and dates were printed from my computer onto cardstock, punched out, matted and adhered to inchies.  On the back of each square is a strip of magnetic “tape.”

MFTFTCHere’s a closer pic of the card.  (The apple and books die-cuts are on the lid of the jar as well.)  The apple is raised on a pop dot and I bent up the edges of the “note” just a bit for added interest.

Lean on Me

Hi everyone!  Just a quick post today of a rather quick and easy card.

Lean on Me

     WSLOM

This is another Whipper Snapper image my daughter chose when I placed my last order.  (I like when the sentiment is already on the stamp.  I don’t have to worry about where to put it.  🙂 )

And…um…I just clicked into the Whipper Snapper website.  They’ve posted a small preview of their next release!  WARNING! WARNING!  😉

Thanks so much for stopping by! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Kettos in the House

Hi everyone!  TGIF!  🙂

Since their release, I’ve been eyeing Stamping Bella‘s Kettos.  I was finally able to get a couple.  Here’s my first.

Happy Thoughts

CHFOFP

This is Tatiana.  She normally has two more of those ponytail-ish things coming out of the top of her head, but I decided to leave those off this time.  If you look closely, you might be able to see where I dropped an uncapped brown marker on her face.  And in another spot, you might also notice where I started to shade/outline using the wrong (darker than intended) marker.  I seem to be having a lot of issues lately with my stamping.  I’m not sure what’s up with that.

As I mentioned, I used Copics to color the image, then used a black gel pen to add some shiny 3-d dots onto the flower, her pants and shoes.  A little yellow brad adds a bit more dimension to the flower.

I have a few more (ok…several more) new Stamping Bella images that I hope to have time to use very soon.  🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!
