Good Intentions Gone Wrong (really wrong)
Please don’t ask me what was going through my mind when I made this. I’m not even sure WHY I made this. Well, I know WHY. I wanted to use the crocheted flower (a new preorder item at Jacksonbelle Embellishments) and the paper, but I’m just not sure HOW exactly this came from ME. Do you ever make something that just totally looks like it was made by someone else… and you have no clue who? **shrugging**
Please be kind… or just very politely back out. I won’t know. Better yet, tell me…if you make a card that is totally not you, maybe you still kind of like it, maybe you don’t, do you still bravely post it or do you toss it and run?
Princess to Queen
Eek!
I wanted to make the cat kind of fancy, but I think I got carried away…and then it was too late. I dropped my gel pen which bounced onto the patterned paper a couple times, leaving some dots I just couldn’t hide, so I then decided to add more to make it look like I did it on purpose. I should have left it alone. I don’t “hate” this card, but it’s just so “not me.” I cannot explain. I wish I’d had time to make another. (The crocheted flowers are really pretty!)
I used one of the cats from Inkadinkado’s Patterned Pets set, adding lots of black 3-d gel pen and sparkle to the different parts of the cat. The basic coloring was done with Copics. The crown and sentiment are from Lizzie Anne Designs’ Once Upon a Time.
The crocheted flowers come in a package of eight, are about one-inch in diameter and hand-crafted by Melody Schwartz (a.k.a. Lacyquilter from Splitcoast Stampers). They are GORGEOUS!
Be sure to check out what Lindsey’s design team has done with the flowers. I’m sure their cards/projects are fabulous!

You are WAY too hard on yourself! Okay, it’s not you, but it’s a very cool card nonetheless! The dots don’t seem out of place at all! I love the colors and your coloring, and the flower is just the perfect touch!
I think it’s a really FUN card. You’re right, it’s not ‘you’, but that just shows how creative you really are. You made ‘not you’ look excellent! I love the colors and everything fits so well with your fun image!
I am not really a fan of purple but I love the kitty all proud and cat-like and I am sure it is even more beautiful in real life!….Your cards are gorgeous no matter what!
Michele, I like it though and even though you do not, it is a cool card…
Melody is such a sweetie and her flowers are fabulous. I have to order some. I agree…this card is not you but it’s still a lovely card. I think it’s the image that’s different for you. It would be totally you if there were silhouette flowers in there. Your coloring is fabulous! I have some totally not me cards too. They usually have Elvis in them!
LOL!!!! EYE LOVE it Michele!!! Eye wish my all my cards that I dislike were this pretty! Eye really do love the colors and the cat is perfect!!! The flower looks great too!!!
You are so silly . . . this card is fabulous and I love it! No, it’s not you, but I’ve done the same thing . . . posted something that was not me and truly hated it. Wondered why I did that. But, sometimes it just happens!
I’m so glad that I’m not the only one that drops stuff on my cards while I’m stamping! I love the colors and of course the beautiful flower!
Are you kidding me? I LOVE this card. It’s my cat and she has become queen and this is the purrfect portrait of her. I want to make a card just like this one for her!
Hi Michele,
I have been following your blog for a while now as I put you on my blog roll. I absolutely love the card!!!! I love everything about it especially the colours as you combined my two favourite colours purple and orange. I’m not just being kind either lol I genuinely think your card is fantastic!!
Regards
Michelle

It may not be your usual kind of card, Michele… but it is fabulous non-the-less!! It’s good to step out of the comfort zone once and a while, I think!! Love those flowers and your pretty colors!!
well I think it looks great! so what if it isn’t the usual ‘you’ kind of card?! we all need those every once in a while just to prove that the creativity hasn’t fallen into the same rut - not that yours ever would!
(just speaking from the uneducated masses over here!) you will always be a stamping queen!
You are such a silly girl, this is great! Maybe it’s the colors that aren’t quite “you” but I really like them!
I just wanted to say, as a frequent “stalker” of your blog: I LOVE THIS!! If you ever decide to put some of your cards for sale, I will stand in line for the opportunity to own this!!! my 9yo DD would worship this card!!
Sandra
Weeeellllllllll, I agree this does not shout “Michele!!!!” But, it is cool…the cat is Definitely Princess-y and the paper is striking and matches the flower so perfectly! It is a very pretty card even if it isn’t technically a “Michele card”
I posted one Friday that I was not super happy with…I figure my blog is not just a place to showcase my masterpieces but also a creative spot to show my true processes.
You or not you, this card is very fun, bold and vibrant! Hey, it’s fun to branch out and make something that isn’t your style. Shows what a lovely facetted stamper you are!! Hugs,
I think it’s awesome! I love the bold and fun color palette and the dots are perfect! Love a happy accident!! I know how you feel, but it really is a great card!
Sometimes I admire other artists so much and wish I could create like them, but when I try it feels wrong and I go back to my own style…kind of like that maybe? It’s not bad creating, just doesn’t fit, ykwim?
But this really is a lovely card…if I didn’t think so, I would have slunk away with a horrid look on my face…lol!!!
I laughed out loud when I read J’s comment… Yes, you are too hard on yourself… I’m not a cat person, but the card is awesome. Great colors, fab layout, cute flower.
This card may not be yoru style but it is still fabulous!!
They say everyone has hidden aspects of themselves, maybe yours just wanted to show itself this morning. The card may not be your normal style, but it made me smile and I happen to like the brightness of it.
Your card is so wild and wacky and isn’t my style either BUT I love it!! The colors are so brilliant and blinding. It’s funny. Your mind must’ve been in a surreal world while working on this but it does have a mod-art look to it. This’ll be a perfect card for someone ultra conservative and quiet to jump start them out of their chair. Who knows…..it may be just what they’re waiting for.
Michelle you are so funny! I actually really like this card!! I know what you mean though when something takes on a life of it’s own and ends up being different then what you would have expected. But honestly I think this one is great!!!
Carla
I think your card is wonderful ! so very original and very cute, that cat looks happy and just so proud . I think your mistake made out to be a huge success
God Bless

Hee hee you are to hard on yourself I love it. Hugs Cindy
Wow! This is a super-cool card…and I bet your brain was thinking where is this coming from?? hehehe… As others have said, it’s good to step out of the zone once in awhile… and you’ve given me the nudge to try some new techniques because you have too. The coloring is phenomonal and I sit here and drink in every detail, in particular the shading. Thanks for sharing. I love the crocheted flower. I may even try to make my own - dig out those old crocheting supplies and give it a whirl. Thanks for the inspiration.
Cute.
I just started a segment on my blog called Card Crashes (when good cards go bad) but I don’t think this would qualify at all! It’s a little over-the-top but still very cool.
You are way too hard on yourself! It is a cute card with a great layout and lots of fabulous details. I know what you mean about it not being you though. I make cards that aren’t really me sometimes too and sometimes I like them and sometimes not so much. Rest assured that nothing you make could ever be called “scary” like you said on my blog though.
You’ve made an amazing card, with a cool color combo! I’m not really into that image, but love how you colored it.
I love this card!! You’ve created a whimsical yet queenly Cheshire!! Love those colors!
If I had done this exactly like you did, I would submit it to every magazine in the world, showcasing the best work I had ever done! And you are disappointed….! Please say it ain’t so!
I love it. I love cats, purple and the flower is perfect. I’ll take your discards any day of the week!
Thank you for sharing!
