My husband’s friend is turning 50 today and his wife has whipped up a little surprise party for him. The party is at a lake so we’ll see if my children are interested in swimming/playing in water they can’t see through. (My daughter’s first response was “Are you serious?” lol)

I love Kim’s owl for birthday cards. I paper-pieced (and popped up) the poof on the hat, and paper-pieced the larger dots on the hat. I tried coloring them but wasn’t satisfied with the color so my sure-fire way to get a match to the paper is to use the paper.

Awwww…this is sooo cute! Love the paper piecing! Have fun at the lake and lol about the swimming. I’m sure my kids would be the other way around!

Have fun at the lake! Our family loves to go. Once my daughter (who was 4 at the time) was talking about different colors of water and I was explaining that water is just clear. Sometimes it might look like a certain color because of the container it is in (such as a pool with a blue liner). She then says, “The water at the lake isn’t clear, it’s green”. It was pretty funny and accurate.
