You’re Fintastic 1, 2 and 3

As I mentioned yesterday, the summer swim season is over.  And we DID win our Divisional meet last weekend by a whopping 37 points! WOOHOO!  What a nail-biter…right down to the very end.  It was an absolutely fabulous meet!

The President of our Board of Directors (who happens to also be our neighbor) asked me to make thank you cards for her to give to the Board and some others for their contributions this season.  I made 20 of these:

You’re Fintastic 1

     CHFYFWE

I used Kim’s super-fun Ocean Friends set.  The fish was stamped on Stampin’ Up’s Ruby Red cardstock.  I used a white pen on the teeth and a black 3-d gel pen on the eyes.  Beneath the card is the coordinating envelope.

My daughter had a fantastic swim buddy– an older swimmer who offered support, encouragement and brought little gifts to the swim meets.   (She just happens to be the daughter of our neighbor/BOD President).  We wanted to give her a little thank you in return for all she did for Katie.  So I made this:

You’re Fintastic 2

     CHFF1

I used a 1 3/8″ circle punch to cut out the partial circle and then adhered the fish in the scoop, popping him up on some dimensional boosters.

CHFJNINThe inside held an iTunes gift card and a thank you note from my daughter.  I wish I’d taken the picture after she’d written her note.  It was adorable…misspellings and all.  🙂

And while the supplies were out, I also made this one:

You’re Fintastic 3

So do I miss dragging my children out of bed every morning to be at the pool by 7:20 a.m.?  No.  Returning multiple times for additional practices?  No.  Will I miss going to the pep rallies every Friday night?  Um….no.  But I will miss the meets every weekend, even if we did have to get up at ridiculously early hours.  I really enjoyed watching the kids (mine and their friends).  But we went out with a bang and I’ll look forward to it starting all over again next summer…after a nice, long break.  🙂

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Happy Haunting

The first thing I would like to point out is that on the stamp, the spider is really A PIECE OF CANDY.  I added a touch of my warped sense of humor here.

I paper-pieced the images, then added some shading with Copics.  The girl’s dress was pieced from the front cover sample square (label of the paper pack) from Cosmo’s Haunted collection.

Be sure to check out this week’s Bubble Bin (my all-time favorite MFT set, Hot Stuff, is in there)!  And if you happen to be going to CHA, please stop by the My Favorite Things booth and hug all of my MFT buddies for me.  I’m so sad to not be going.  🙁

I’m slowly, but surely, slowing down here.  Swimming has ended (more on that tomorrow) and now I’m trying to get ahead on my work because we’re leaving for the beach soon.  I am very much looking forward to this trip.  I’ll have some things to share along the way while I’m gone.  And hopefully when I return, I’ll have the time to get back into my blog hopping.  I feel like I’ve missed so much.

I truly appreciate the time you all take in stopping by!  Have a great day!

Stamps:  MFT “Trick or Treat with WTG”   Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black   Cardstock: Prism Black, Natural Smooth   Patterned Paper:  Imaginisce Hallowhimsy, Cosmo Cricket Haunted   Accessories:  Copic markers (W00, W1, W3, W5, W7, E00, G0000), Basic Grey button, Making Memories ribbon, black twine, sewing machine, pop dots.  Finished size 5” x 5”.

What Time is It? It’s JiFFy Time!

Yep, the Jiffy girls have another challenge to share!  This time around Lori chose this adorable (and very popular) Daisy image by Sugar Nellie.  And before she revealed her image to us, I mailed to everyone “Sun Dress” and “Strawberry Patch” patterned paper from Basic Grey’s new Lemonade collection.

It’s Been a While

      SNIBAW

I used a combination of Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils to color my image.  The girl’s hair, skin and the background were colored with Copics and the rest was done with pencils.

I shredded the paper edges a bit and then used my psychotic sewing machine to add some stitching.  Normally if my machine is acting wonky,  I would murmur some choice words and start over, but since the card is kind of scrappy, I decided the stitching could stay kind of cr@ppy.

Be sure to check out what the other JiFFy girls have done with this same image and paper:

Julie, Carole, Lori and Alli.  (Kim has a lot going on this month so she had to sit this one out.  She’ll be back though! 🙂 )

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Stamps:  Sugar Nellie “Daisy,” Cornish Heritage Farms “Silhouette Blooms II” (Kim Hughes Collection)   Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black   Cardstock:  Prism Crabapple Dark, Natural Smooth   Patterned Paper:  Basic Grey “Lemonade” Sun Dress and Strawberry Patch   Accessories:  Copic markers (E00, E000, R20, E31, E33, E35, RV95), Prismacolor pencils/turpenoid, edge distresser, buttons, cream twine, Making Memories trim, sewing machine.  Finished size 5” x 5”.

A bit more Christmas in July

Hi everyone.  In between my multiple internet/email issues (grrr…), I thought I’d share one more Christmas design from Whipper Snapper’s Fall/Winter release.  (See all here.)

       WSDB

Here I’ve used The Magic of Snow.  I have the snowman reaching for a star, but I think he’d be cute with a bird in his hand…reaching for a snowflake…or maybe a big ol’ mug of spiced cider.  **snicker**  (Ok…maybe my very challenging week is showing a little.  I’ve had sporadic computer services, a dead battery that left us walking, birthdays, swim team thank you’s galore and more.  Plus my mojo is on the go-go.  Hopefully THAT won’t last long.)  Anyway…

I added some glittery Stickles to the image and stars.  You might be able to see a bit of it in the photo.

Thank so much for stopping by!  Hopefully I’ll be back with more soon! 🙂

Stamps:  Whipper Snapper Designs “The Magic of Snow” and “Believe”   Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black   Cardstock:  Stampin’ Up Bashful Blue, Pumpkin Pie; Prism Super Smooth White   Patterned Paper:  Imaginisce Twitterpated   Accessories:  Copic markers (E50, B00, B000, BG15, YR04, YR07, R46, YG67, C1), small star punch, Star Dust Stickles.  Finished size 5” x 5”.

Friendship is Organically Grown

      MFTFIOG

I used the Eclipse Masking Panels to mask my fruit (from Feelin’ Fruity) as I stamped across the paper.   (Be sure to save those masks!  They can be reused!)

My images were colored using Prismacolor pencils.  I probably should have added some more obvious shading around the fruit but I was afraid I’d mess it up and decided to leave it alone.

I wrapped black hemp around the bottom and added a button from MFT’s Spring button collection, leaving the tails of the hemp hanging from the back.  (An idea I often “borrow” from Anna.)

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Stamps:  MFT “Feelin’ Fruity   Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black   Cardstock:  Prism Black, Candleglow Medium, Natural Smooth   Patterned Paper:  Graphic 45 Times Nouveau Collection “Hot Tomato”   Accessories:  Prismacolor pencils/turpenoid, Eclipse Masking Panels, black twine, button, pop dots.  Finished size 5 ½” x 5 ½”.

Be Happy

Along with my few new Greeting Farm images (there are still a couple more I haven’t used), I have some Stamping Bella that’s been awaiting ink.  This is “Grattytude.”  🙂

Be Happy

     SBBH2

I used Copics to color the image and Prismacolor pencils to add the grass. (I’m still working on my “grass skills.”)  A yellow glitter pen adds just a tiny bit of sparkle to all of the flower centers.

The paper is new Basic Grey Lemonade (6×6 paper pad) from Jacksonbelle Embellishments.  (I love both of the new BG lines.)  The stitched felt flowers are by Prima, and I’m sure long gone.  I’ve had them forever.

SBBHISI split the sentiment, using the last part on the inside of the card.

I’m off to run some errands!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Stamps:  Stamping Bella “Grattytude”   Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black   Cardstock: Prism Blush Red Dark, Super Smooth White   Patterned Paper: Basic Grey Lemonade 6×6 paper pad   Accessories:  Copic markers (E00, E31, E33, E35, RV000, RV34, B000, B0000, YR31), Prima stitched felt flowers, Basic Grey buttons, Lemon Spica glitter pen, glue dots, white string, pop dots.  Finished size 5 ½” x 5 ½”.

Peace…and all that stuff

TGIF!   Today I had to take a bit of time to play with another of my new Greeting Farm stamps (before the newER ones arrive).

Peace

      GFP

I thought this Peace image would go well with Basic Grey’s new bright and funky June Bug paper.   The image is a bit large so my card is as well…5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″.

The super-wide ribbon was a gift from my friend, Jody, image from Hope Stamps Eternal, and paper and buttons from Jacksonbelle Embellishments.   For a very light background color, I used one of the new lightest Copic markers (from Eclectic Paperie).

And contrary to what my children think, she did NOT pee in her pants. That’s SHADING.  **eyes rolling**

I’m off to get ready for a pep rally (Rah! Rah! lol).  One more week and I get to sleep in past 6.  Can’t wait.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Stamps:  The Greeting Farm “HG Peace”   Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black   Cardstock:  Prism Black, Simply Smooth White   Patterned Paper:  Basic Grey June Bug 6” x 6” pad   Accessories:  Copic markers (E00, R20, R27, R29, Y08, Y15, E57, E77, YG23, YG63, YG00, YG0000), Heidi Swapp Ghost Flowers, Basic Grey buttons, white string (colored with red Copic), ribbon.

Seeing Double

Hi everyone!   A couple weeks ago Julia asked me to fill in for her WT challenge this week so I thought it would be fun to use two identical “somethings” on a card or project.

You’re my Favorite

      MFTYMF

I used MFT’s new Bubble Bunny.  (Sentiment is from Flopsey’s Flowers.)  As you may know, there is only one bunny in the tub on the stamp.  I thought it would be cute to add a friend. 🙂

I first stamped the bunny (only) onto a scrap piece of white cardstock.  I scanned the image then flipped it using my photo editing software.  I printed the flipped bunny onto one of MFT’s Perfect Paper Panels (they really are perfect with Copics) then stamped the whole image onto the flipped bunny, aligning the image with a Stamp-a-ma-jig.  I did have to omit a few bubbles but it worked out great.

I used Copics to color the tub, sky and bunnies, and used Paula‘s tips on creating grass using Prismacolor pencils (here).  She’s a Prisma-pencil-genius, you know.  Wow.  Always amazing.

The brown gingham paper was printed from MFT’s Simply Spring digi-paper collection.

If you’d like to play along, you can find the challenge here, and be sure to check out other samples from my buds Jody and Susan.  🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Weekly Spotlight 7/15-7/21

MFTSL

Hello!  I’m a little late with my post today.  I have a sick one here and I’ve been rather crazy (more so than usual).

This week’s spotlight with My Favorite Things is on our My Favorite Copic Collection.  This is the perfect mix of colors for all of your MFT sets,  including matches to all of our current exclusive color collections in Spring, Summer and Chocolate Kiss.  Several skin tones are included in this set as well.

If you are looking for a ONE-SET Copic Collection to take care of your coloring needs in a thrifty fashion, this set is for you!

Tooty Fruity You’re a Cutie

     MFTTFYC

This is a rather simple card using Feelin’ Fruity, one of MFT’s newest releases just available last night.  I love it and have a few ideas for future “projects.”

MFTTFCUI used Copics to color my slice of cuteness.  And after seeing what my friend, Carole, did with a glitter pen on her fruit (here), I just had to “borrow” the idea.  🙂  I also used a 3-d black gel pen on the eyes.

If you’d like some tips on advanced blending techniques using Copic markers, Candice has a fabulous tutorial here in our HTDT thread in the MFT member forum.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Stamps: MFT “Feelin’ Fruity”   Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black   Cardstock:  Prism Vibrant Pink, Candleglow Light; MFT Perfect Panels   Patterned Paper:  Doodlebug Strawberry Blossoms and Pink Lemonade Plaid   Accessories:  Copic markers, Martha Stewart punch, May Arts ribbon, Melon and Pink Spica glitter pens, Sakura 3-d black gel pen, pop dots.  Finished size 5 ½” x 4 ¼”.

MFT’s Mid-July New Release Hop

Hellooooo!  Welcome to the mid-July new release hop with My Favorite Things!  If you’re just popping in here, you may want to head back to the beginning with Kim.  Be sure to follow along!  You never know where you might find a prize awaiting!  🙂

We have three GREAT new releases tonight, Annie LaPoint’s Spread a Harvest of Hope ($9), Bubble Bunny Flopsey ($9) and Feelin’ Fruity ($17.95).  I honestly can’t say which is my favorite.  Harvest of Hope is so pretty, Bubble Bunny is cute as can be and Feelin’ Fruity…totally adorable! I love the sentiments in this set.  For tonight, I’ve used Spread a Harvest of Hope.

ofp

I used Copic markers to color the image as well as to add the grass.   Paula has a wonderful tutorial (here in “Tips & Tricks for the July Release“) demonstrating how she adds her grass shading and blades with Prismacolor pencils.  I thought I’d give it a whirl with the markers.  I like the result of the pencils best but I think the markers turned out ok too.

My main (image) panel is raised on pop dots along with the bigger (entire) front panel.  I did not use Nestabilities on the main panel.  I didn’t feel like dragging out all of my supplies so I used the “poor man’s method” (or “lazy woman”)…I just matted the image onto another piece of white cardstock.  It looks the same to me.

For your First 50, we’re in Week 3 of the Memento Dew Drop collection–Bamboo Leaves.

Your next stop in the hop is with my mega-talented friend JODY.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I’ll be back tomorrow with this week’s MFT Weekly Spotlight.  Have a great day/night!  🙂

Stamps:  MFT “Harvest of Hope”   Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black   Cardstock:  Prism Island Mist Light and Medium; MFT Perfect Panels   Patterned Paper: My Mind’s Eye Pretty Please “Pink Floral Paper” (reverse side)   Accessories:  Copic markers (BG10, YG95, YG91, R20, R32, E33, E43, C3, E0000), brads, pop dots, sewing machine.
