It’s a JiFFy Kind of Day

It’s that time again!  The JiFFy girls have been a little bit “folksy” this month…as opposed to a little bit country or rock n’ roll.  Now you’ll have Marie and Donny Osmond singing in your head all day…if you’re old enough to remember that.  ;)

This month Alli chose the bird image from Unity’s July kit of the month, “A Pocket Full of…” and Carole chose Graphic 45’s “Hot Tomato” from their Times Nouveau Collection.  I think it’s a perfect match.  (I’m still waiting for that really IMperfect match. (I know it’s coming…sooner or later.)

Happy Day

   UHDBB2

I colored my bird with Copics and then sponged the edges with distress ink.  I used a black 3-d gel pen on the bird’s eye, the solid dots on her UHDBBCUtail and the centers of the x’s on her body.

Be sure to check out what Julie, Kim, Alli and Lori did with the same image and paper.   (Carole is taking a bit of a break.)

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

You Warm My Heart

Published by Michele Boyer under Digi Image, My Designs

I took a bit of time to create another card using a digi-image from Digi Stamp Characters.  They are just so sweet.

I used Cosmo’s new Jolly by Golly paper (found here or here).

I just can’t get over how cute these images are.  :)  And I stayed inside the lines this time.  ;)

Hi

Published by Michele Boyer under Digi Image, My Designs

I was doing a bit of blog hopping yesterday and wouldn’t you know it…I found some digi-images that just called my name.  Tammi had an adorable card on her blog using an image from Digi Stamp Characters… I just had to go shopping!  I only bought three but I’m sure I’ll be back!

Hi

       PIHI3

If you’ve visited my blog often, you probably know that Cosmo Cricket is one of my favorites in patterned paper.  I was so disappointed when they stopped carrying the smaller sized paper pads.  I love Cosmo’s prints, but sometimes they’re just a bit too big for cards.  But the pads are back!!  Yes!  I almost jumped up and down when I heard the news.   You can find them at Jacksonbelle Embellishments and Hope Stamps Eternal.   For this card I used three patterns from the Early Bird Collection, my favorite of the four new pads.  I loved it in 12″ x 12″ but I love it even more in 6″ x 6″.

Is that face not the sweetest?

I accidentally colored a bit outside of the lines here and there but decided this style of line art worked with a slightly messy coloring job so I left it alone.  Rolling Eyes

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

A Berry Special Box

My daughter asked me the other day if I would make a little gift box for her friend’s birthday.  I have no idea what she plans to put in this box…or if she’ll even end up using it, but it was fun to make.

A while back I picked up a couple of these little note paper boxes, thinking someday I’d do something with them.  Well, I blew the dust off (lol) and finally did do something (with one of them, anyway).

For a Berry Special Friend

                 MFTBSB2

It was fairly easy to cover the box with the patterned paper.  I used a single-sided print so the paper would be easier to tuck beneath the bright pink sides.  Along the bottom, I did have to pry the side away from the base just a bit to fold the paper over and under.

                  MFTBSBS

The focal image is attached to the band that holds the box closed.  And I used a Bow Easy to form my Strawberry Shortcake-ish bow.  :)

A Little “Boo-day” Fun

When I placed my last order with Stamping Bella, I couldn’t resist adding this adorable image to my pile.

Happy Boo-day

     SBHBD

How cute are they???  I just love them!

                  SBHBDCU
I used Copics for the image and then added some ground with Prismacolor pencils.

For the sentiment, I split the Happy Birthday stamp, substituting the “boo” for the “birth.”

I’m off to clean for company.  Thanks for looking!  Have a great rest-of-the-weekend!  :)

Grow Love

TGIF!  :)  We’re having a lazy day today.  Other than a quick trip to the post office and the craft store, we have nothing on the schedule.  I do have quite a stack of books to process for the school, but I can do that in small increments.  (I like slow days.  We don’t have them often.)

Grow Love Plant a Tree

     MFTGLS

My card today was made using the new Grow Love set by My Favorite Things.  I stamped the tree three times onto different patterned papers, cut out the pieces and reassembled with pop dots between the layers.  I added some dots around the tops of the branches using a 3-d gel pen and the sentiment is embossed for a darker appearance.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Stamps:  My Favorite Things “Grow Love”   Ink:  Adirondack Pitch Black and Sandal  Cardstock:  Prism Rose Dark   Patterned Paper:  Basic Grey Lemonade 6 x 6 paper pad   Accessories:  Copic marker (E35),  clear embossing powder, Creative Memories circle cutting system, sewing machine, pop dots.  Finished size 5” x 5”.

A Happy Birthday Dolly

Hi everyone!  I’m filling in for Julia this week, hosting her WT challenge.  I thought it might be fun to add some kind of fuzz to our projects…fuzzy string, trim, paper, embellishments…anything, as long as it’s fuzzy or looks like it’s fuzzy.  Sound fun?  If you’d like to play along, upload your card or project to SCS using the keyword WT232 so everyone can see your fuzz.  (lol)

Happy Birthday

     SBHBD

Dolly is another of my new Stamping Bella images.  (She’s in the Ketto category in case you want to add her to your cart.  Just trying to be helpful. :) )

I added some red Fun Flock to the hearts on her jumper and then used some “fuzzier-than-I-normally-like-kind-of-pieces” of jute string in the buttons and cross-stitches.

My very sweet friend, Lori, made a sample for today’s fuzz challenge too.  Be sure to hop on over and check it out! (Btw, it’s her fault I bought this Dolly stamp…just sayin’. ;) )

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Chocolate Kisses and Bunny Hugs

Hi everyone!  Thanks for the well wishes regarding my back.  After an hour and 40 minutes in the doctor’s office, I left with three prescriptions and two totally frazzled children.  All in all, they were very good considering they had no choice but to come along.  It helped a bit that there was some excitement while in the waiting room.  There was an accident at the intersection just outside the office.  Luckily we didn’t see it happen and no one was seriously injured, but they enjoyed the commotion…and I enjoyed the brief reprieve from “Mom, he touched me.”  “Mom, tell her to stop breathing on me.”  “He’s looking at me.”  “She keeps poking me.”  Three more weeks….(I love my children, I really do, but they bicker non-stop and it drives me right up the wall and down the other side.)

MFTSP

This week’s spotlight with My Favorite Things is on the ribbon collections.   I’m anxious to play with the new Halloween ribbons but in the meantime, I’ve used one of my favorites, the 1″ green saddle-stitch from the Winter Solstice “nest.”

Chocolate Kisses & Bunny Hugs

      MFTCKBH

Wouldn’t it be nice to kick back, put your feet up, box of chocolates in your lap…  Yeah, that never happens for me.

I really like this Flopsey Chocolate Bunny, and I like how my bow turned out, but it’s not really a bow.

MFTBHCUI cut the ribbon so that it was about an inch or so longer than the width of the card.  I attached the right end (only) to the back of the patterned paper and  draped the ribbon across the paper from right to left.  Next I took a separate length of ribbon and folded it back and forth (like those hard candies) until it resembled a bow once the center was pinched together.  (Does that make sense?)  The end you see sticking out on the left is the long piece that lays across the card.  I used the button and jute string to hold the ribbon together, stitching it directly to the paper.

The whole front panel is adhered to the card using pop dots.

I finally broke down and ordered the full set of circle Nestabilities. I just couldn’t take the plain circles any more…or the limited sizes I’m currently able to cut.  So for now, just pretend there is a pretty scalloped border around my bunny, ok?

Be sure to check out this week’s Bubble Bin and Jody’s tutorial on how to make the most of your August MFT kit (tutorial here…that Jody, she’s a clever one).

Oh, and my layout is from Mojo Monday’s Week 96.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

To my Favorite Bookworm

More today from I {heart} Books…one of My Favorite Things‘ August releases.

To my Favorite Bookworm

     MFTFBW

I’m not a fan of worms, but I think this little guy is kind of cute.  I used Copics for coloring and added a bit of 3-d paper glaze over his glasses.

                        MFTFBCU

I heat embossed the sentiment to help it stand out against the patterned paper.  After adding some stitching, I popped up the entire front panel on dimensional boosters.

Sorry to be short and choppy.  My back (and leg) have been giving me problems so I’m off to the doctor this morning.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!
