Swingin’ Oliver

Today’s challenge at Kraftin’ Kimmie’s Challenge Blog is to make a Christmas or winter themed project.  Easy enough, right?

Just Chillin’ (and Swingin’)

         KKOSW1

I used Oliver.  And made my first swing card.

KKOSW2The tiny brad in the center of the cup on the left is what allows the top portion to swing.  The bottom (red) panel is only adhered to the brown base at the bottom.  And the penguin piece is adhered to the green patterned panel only at the top.  The tiny brad holds everything together.

To hide the back of the brad, I inserted it through all layers except the brown base.  Double-sided (or red-line) tape holds the cream panel to the brown base.

The brown brads in the upper left corner only go through the green LLOSW3patterned paper so the backs do show but only if you turn the card over while the piece is flipped.

The penguin panel does swing all the way down so there’s plenty of room for a note.

If you’d like to play along with the challenge, you can find the info HERE.   Be sure to link your Christmas/winter project on the challenge blog because one random participant will receive a free Bernadette stamp.  🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

A New Moon in the A.M.

“Hello,” Edward so politely said to Bella in Biology after his long absence.  “I’m Edward Cullen.”  So politely spoken after previously looking at her like she lived in a dumpster.  You have to have his voice in your head for that to be funny.  (I’ve only seen Twilight five or six times so I hear it pretty clearly. lol.)

Hello

        GFE3

I had absolutely no interest in reading about vampires and/or werewolves.  I’m more of a political thriller kind of gal…David Baldacci and the like (LOVE him).  But my neighbor talked me into it… my neighbor who has GFECUread the Twilight series four times (maybe five) and has both paperback and hardback.  (She’ll only lend out the paperbacks.  She’s so funny.)  So this morning I’m off to the movies with her and several other friends (and a box of kleenex…not because I’ll cry but because I’m still super-stuffy).

I had a really hard time capturing the sparkles here, but I used an orange glitter pen on Edward’s hair.  I couldn’t bring myself to make his skin sparkly (lol), but I thought a little shine in his hair was ok.

I’m off!  🙂  Thanks for stopping by!  I’ll be back tomorrow with a Kraftin’ Kimmie card.  🙂  Have a great day!

It’s Week 7 (the final week) of My Favorite ThingsSo You Think You Can Stamp contest.  This week the six finalists will compete for the grand prize!!  What’s the theme?  Dance for Your Life – Freestyle – anything goes!

My sample today uses Flower Girl, one of MFT’s new Pure Innocence images, ALL of which are now back in stock.  You can find them HERE.

Flower for You

     MFTFGG

I colored my little girl with Copics, matted each layer then popped up three (the girl, the red gingham panel and the complete front panel).  It’s a thick card.

I plan to take it easy today as I’m all stuffy, sneezy and have a massive headache to boot.   Hopefully I’ll feel better by Friday morning.  I have movie tickets.  😉  (I’m going no matter how bad I feel but it would be nice to not feel bad.)

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

MFT Back with VIP!

Hi everyone!  You’ve hit the end of the trail with MFT’s WTG hop!    If you’re just popping in here, you may want to go back to the beginning with Kim.  (Otherwise you will have missed everything.)

This month’s VIP collection, available today ONLY–11/18, includes Maid for WTG.  (The set will be available on its own in two weeks with our December release.)

My Mr. Right

   MFTMMR1

This month WTG is kicked back with her glass of wine, surfing the web, chatting with friends. And Mr. Right is doing the cleaning.  Or he’s just standing there with the vacuum, giving her “the look.”  (We don’t know.  They have no heads. 😉 )

I used lots of paper-piecing for my image and tipped up WTG’s left foot for just a bit of dimension.

    MMRCU1

Switching Gears

Hi everyone.  🙂  I’ve switched away from the cutesy stuff for just a bit.  I have a stack of new rubber on my table that must be used.  I’m determined.  This Horse and Rider image by Cornish Heritage Farms was at the top of the pile.

Sending Love

      CHFSLSEP

I’ve not had much exposure to horses but I’ve always loved them.  They’re so beautiful.  And so I couldn’t resist this image.

I kept the layout simple and decided to keep the color combo along those same lines.  I don’t often pair brown with black, but I think it works here.   The gingham paper is from “Grandma’s Christmas Soup” by Jillibean Soup.  This particular pattern is Can Beef Consomme’.  Isn’t that funny?

I like a little thickness to my cards so the entire front panel (from the black up) is raised on dimensional boosters.

I’m off to get two kids ready for school.  They’re both complaining that they don’t want to go so I’m sure we’ll get our day off to a great start.  **eye roll**

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

A Sweet P.I. Girl

Hi everyone.  I have a sweet little Pure Innocence girl to share today.   🙂

You Warm My Heart

     MFTSNOR

I kept this one fairly simple with an easy layout, nothing raised or glossed.  But I did add a strip of lace and a few glitter dots for a little something extra.

MFTSDOCUI just love coloring these gals.   They are just so sweet!  I hope you aren’t getting sick of them. I have (at least) two more to post soon.

I understand that quite a few of the P.I. images are currently out of stock.  But have no fear, they will be back soon!  🙂

We spent a good bit of time yesterday getting a head start on our Christmas shopping.  Apparently everyone else had the same idea.  Holy cow.  I couldn’t believe how many people were out and about.  And the Lego store…By the looks of the line, you would have thought they were giving things away.  (But alas, they were not.)

Anyway, I haven’t spoken at length with my other half yet this morning, but I’m hoping to have a lazy day.  I still say internet shopping is the way to go.  No people, no lines and no racing for parking spaces.  😉

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Round and Round We Go!

It’s time for another challenge with Kraftin’ Kimmie!  This week Andrea is our hostess and she’s challenging us to use  circles.

It’s Your Day

     KKIYDDFR4
Since Francesca has strawberries on her pockets, I pulled out the strawberry paper from Basic Grey’s Nook & Pantry.  While I was flipping through the pad I saw the cupcake paper and thought, hmmm…I’ll never use this as is…but I can punch out some of those cuppycakes!  And so I did.  Each KKIYDFRINmatted circle is adhered to the card front using a 3/4″ dimensional booster.   The three matted circles on the inside of the card are adhered using dimensional boosters as well.

Want to play along?  You can find the info HERE.  (You could win a free Piper stamp!)  🙂

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Snow Balls/Jingle Balls

I’ve been playing a bit with some new winter images I recently received.  I liked the sentiment so much on this one, I decided to stamp it twice.  Come on, sing it with me!  (Hee, hee, hee.)

Jingle Balls

     WSDJB

These little guys are Jingle Balls from Whipper Snapper Designs.  They have tiny brads for buttons and glassy jingle bells.

My friend, Joanne, made me buy that border punch so you’ll be seeing a lot of it.  And I used her little buttony bow too.

One final note, all Martha Stewart and Inkadinkado products at Jacksonbelle Embellishments are on sale for 40% off.  Once they’re gone, they’re gone.  Also, with every order placed through November 30th (no matter the size), you will be entered into a drawing for a nice give-away valued at over $100.   (HERE‘s the loot.)

I’ll be back tomorrow (with a Kraftin’ Kimmie card 🙂 ).  Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

A Faux Feel

Hi everyone!  I’m filling in, kind of last minute here, for Julia’s WT challenge at SCS.  Today we’re creating “faux feel.”  We can use patterned paper that has a look of texture, create your own texture by embossing or by using one of the SCS resources such as Faux Suede, Linen.  (There is also a new Brick Wall tutorial that looks interesting.)  How can you create a faux texture?

I have a little gift bag using one of MFT’s latest releases, Gifty Girl.  This set is also available in a kit here but can now be purchased on it’s own.

‘It’s in the Bag’ Bag

                MFTIITBB

My girl is all paper-pieced, right along with her pretty shopping bags and background.  At the bottom, I added a strip of crocheted trim with metal baby braddies over a strip of dark brown cardstock.  Here’s a closer pic:

Here I’ve used a small scrap of red woodgrain paper for the heart.  (Another of MFT’s newer releases, Polar Love.)

If you’d like to play along with the challenge, you can find it HERE.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

SYTYCS Contest, Week 6 Krumping

It’s Week 6 of My Favorite ThingsSo You Think You Can Stamp contest…your last chance to claim a spot among the finalists who will compete for the grand prize!  This week’s theme is “Krumping–Bling it Out and Make it Shout!!”  Krumping I cannot do.  Bling and shout, I can.  🙂

Toasty Flopsey

     MFTTFB

I decided to dress Flopsey in some bling-buttoned fuzzy red footy pajamas.  I drew a neckline and sleeves, colored the pj’s with a red MFTTFCUmarker, then used a Quickie Glue Pen to adhere red Flun Flock.  The tiniest clear Swarovski crystals from MFT’s Crystal Clear Adornments are sized perfectly for the buttons.

I used pink crystals from the Spring Adornments collection and red from the Summer Collection to add bling to the tree and to create a string of lights.  Yellow Stickles added sparkle to the popped up star and a black glaze pen added a bit of shine to his eye.

If you’d like to play along, you can check out all the contest rules and details HERE

All entries for this week’s theme must be uploaded to SCS by Monday, November 16th.  Be sure to check out the details.  There are a few specifics you’ll need to know.  I can’t wait to see your bling!  )

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!
