Happy New Year from the JiFFy Girls!

My JiFFy friends and I are back with our final Just For Fun challenge of 2009!

This month Kim chose a soft vintage paper from My Mind’s Eye’s 29th Street Market Collection.  Once the paper was on it’s way to everyone (and before she revealed her choice), Carole let us know that she had chosen New Year Sprinkle from The Cat’s Pajamas Make Merry set.

I will admit that when I first learned of the choices this month, my first response was an audible “GASP!”  How in the world do I make The Cat’s Pajamas work with a vintage print???  It was a little scary…but that’s what makes this challenge fun…and interesting.  We just never know what type of combination we’ll end up with.  🙂

My first intention was to go with the more plain back side of the paper, but I decided to stand tall, be brave and use the floral side.

Happy New Year

              JFFTCP4

I colored the hat band and banner to match the floral print and added three accents of Swarovski black pearls.  Sprinkle is looking pretty snazzy in the top hat so I thought the black pearls were appropriate.

JFFTCPCU4I colored and cut out an additional banner, popping up the center with a small piece of a foam booster.  The thinner portions of the banner are glued down while the ends are bent up just a tad to add a bit more dimension.

Be sure to check out the other JiFFy girls to see what they’ve done with this same image and paper.  I’m always excited to see for myself! 🙂

Just a Note

Hi everyone!  I wanted to pop in quickly to say hi and post a little something.  I’ve been taking a break from the computer and stamping to spend time with my family.  We had a fabulous Christmas and it’s been really nice to have the down-time.

Just a Note

      UJAN2

Before the holiday, I finally had time to play a bit with my new Unity.  I have quite the stack developing and really need to use it.  I have Stamping Bella and some CHF patiently awaiting ink as well.  Once I get some “work” done, I plan to dive into that pile.  🙂

I used the last bit of my trim from Jody and colored in the tiny hearts on the typewriter with a red glitter pen.  You can’t tell in the photo but I bent up the corners of the note to add just a bit of interest.

Well, I’m off to find fabric for bedding for a triple bunk my husband made for our daughter’s American Girl dolls.  He did a fabulous job.  I am so impressed!  It’s so much nicer than the $215 dollar bed in the catalog (ACK!).  Let’s hope I can do it justice with the bedding.

I’ll be back soon!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Digging Out

Wow, what a day we had here yesterday…about 22-23 inches of snow were plopped upon us.  Considering we don’t typically get that much in an entire year (maybe even two or more), it’s been a big deal.   Lots of shoveling and playing but still no plows.  Melting is not expected any time soon, so I think the kids are going to have a longer holiday break than initially planned (which is making the last minute Christmas preparations a bit tricky.  Hmm…this might get interesting.)

At any rate, I have a snowy/Christmasy card to share today.

Merry Kissmas

I colored my Merry Kissmas cuties (from My Favorite Things) with Copic markers and added a bit of clear 3-d glaze pen to the berries.

Unlike most of my cards, this one has no thick embellishments, ribbons or doo-dads so it’s easily mailable.  Always a plus.  🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

On the inside of my card, I tucked in two movie tickets.  I wanted to make up my own for an in-home movie get-together but I ran out of time.   Too bad my tickets weren’t red and black to match my card but we can’t choose those colors, can we? 😉

40 Christmas Cards = Tingly Wrist

My cards are finally done.  I still need to sign and address them, but I’m so glad the mass production portion of the task has ended.  Unfortunately, my left wrist has taken the brunt of it.  I have this annoying tingling sensation.  I’ve had it before and it eventually goes away, but in the meantime it drives me nuts.  But the cards are done and that’s what matters most (right now).

Sweetest  Holiday Wishes

     PTISW3

Because I needed to make 40, my goal was to keep the cards fairly simple.  They ended up being not quite as simple as I had planned, but that’s ok.   Since I wanted to use Papertrey Ink’s Holiday Button Bits (and because I was running out of time), I decided to check their gallery for some inspiration.  In my search, I found this card by Niki Estes.  Obviously I changed some things, but I thought her card was cute and went from there.

PTISWCUAs Nicki did, I used Liquid Applique for the “icing” on the gingerbread man.  And although it goes against my own personal  rules to use buttons without string of some kind, I could not bring myself to thread 80 buttons (!), so they’re naked and I’m fine with that.  🙂

These will mostly go to family and family friends.  I have some others I’ll be sending out as well.  (…Others of which I did NOT make 40.)

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

It’s a Sparkly Kind of Saturday

It’s time for another challenge with Kraftin Kimmie!  This week Andrea is asking us to Glitter it Up!

You Sparkle

   KKYSCH4

Although I love the sparkle of glitter, I hate the mess and so I rarely use it.  Since my craft room is already a disaster, I decided to go the less messy route and use Stickles.  KKYSC2CUIt’s still super sparkly and I don’t have glitter stuck to everything.   I added sparkles to Charlotte‘s headband and dress.

I pieced together the sentiment using two of Kimmie’s sets.  The “You” is from one of the phrases in her Sassy Sentiments set and the “Sparkle” is from Kimmie’s Holiday Sentiments.

Be sure to check out the Krafty Challenge Blog for more design team samples and to find out how you can win a free Kraftin Kimmie stamp.  🙂

Shakin’ with Birgitta

TGIM!  🙂  I recently placed an order with All That Scraps and a few of their Swiss Pixie digis made their way into my cart.  Sneaky little things.  (I think they’re so cute!)

I decided to put Birgitta in a shaker of twinkly ‘snow.’

Noel

   CCDN2

Inside the shaker, I used Twinklets Diamond Dust which is made of finely ground glass.  (My friend, Jody, made me buy it a couple years ago.)  It’s super sparkly and what I like most is that it doesn’t look plasticy like some “snow-ish” products.

             CCDNCU

I cut all the pieces of the shaker (including the acetate) using my oval Nestabilities.  A thin strip of dimensional foam tape (cut to about 1/8″ width) is sandwiched between the layers to hold the ‘snow’ inside.

Now if I can just keep this away from my daughter…

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Don’t Worry

Hi everyone.  I’m back to share another Stamping Bella card.  I adore this little Ketto’s Dolly and here I’ve paired her with one of my favorite patterned paper combos from October Afternoon’s “Weathervane” collection.

Be Happy

   SBDWD

I picked up this sentiment for a dear friend of mine as she’s always telling me “Don’t worry, be happy.”  Of course, I have to give her a hard time for planting that goofy song in my brain for days on end.  (And I apologize to you for now planting it in yours!).

Anyway, when I bought the sentiment for her, I decided to pick one up for myself.  And every time I use it, I think of my friend.  🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Stamping Bella The Big Three

Hi everyone.  It’s been snowing here all day (which is really weird because first of all it doesn’t snow here often and secondly, it’s extremely rare to have snow before mid-January).  But it’s been coming down all day. So pretty.  And with the snow, I’ve been running the dryer all day as the kids come in and out to play.  They’re really enjoying it.  And I’ve enjoyed having some stamp/play time.

I’m too late for the hop, but not too late to enter the contest for Stamping Bella‘s third birthday.   (I don’t need much of an excuse to use SB.  I’m a big fan.)  🙂   I made two cards.  My favorite is the one I’ll share tomorrow.  Everyone else (here) liked this one the best.

I Love You This Much

     SBLYTM

“Aptee ‘tude”  was another of the stamps I’ve had for a while…unused.

SBLYTMCUI stamped the image twice so I could cut out the hands, heartstring and scissors (as one piece).  The hands on each end are attached flat, but I placed tiny pieces of pop dots beneath the hearts for a bit of dimension.  The scissors are just bent up slightly with nothing underneath.

I’m off to put on another layer of clothing.  Brrrr….

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

A KK GC Challenge

How’s that for being cryptic?  🙂

Today on the Kraftin Kimmie Challenge Blog, Vicki has challenged us to make a gift card holder.  I’m always looking for creative ways to incorporate a gift card into a card so I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s creations.

I Like You a Latte

   KKLYAL

As much as I tried to include the sentiment on the front of the card, I just couldn’t make it work.  So mine is on the inside:

        KKLYALIN

In leiu of a pocket for the gift card, I made two big corner stitches, tucking the ends of the card beneath.  A little adhesive behind the card helps to hold it in place.   It isn’t fancy but it’s functional.  And it’s ok….right?  (I’m not really sure….)
Be sure to pop on over to the Challenge Blog to see other design team samples and to find out how you can win a free Kraftin’ Kimmie stamp!
