MFT Previews – Day 2

Back again!  🙂  Today the My Favorite Things design team is sharing samples of three of our February releases…Dance the Night Away, Clearly Sentimental About Emerson and Twisted Threesome.  As tempting as it was to go with the new Twisted set (you know I’ll be using that one later soon ), I decided to challenge myself using Dance the Night Away.

Give it a Twirl

My first (personal) challenge was to make an elegant card.  Although I love that style, it doesn’t come easy to me.  Additionally, I have really been admiring all the pearl (and rhinestone) flourishes others use.  I’ve just never been sure what to do with one so I’ve never bought one.  But now was the time. 

So I made a trip into A.C. Moore to find myself a black pearl flourish.  Guess what.  No flourishes (pearl or otherwise).  My next stop was Michaels.  Again, no flourishes.  Give me a break.  I finally decide to take the plunge and try one and I can’t even FIND one.  So …I decided to make my own.  I bought a couple packs of pearl stickers and I “gave it a twirl.”  I think it turned out ok.  But the next time I place an on-line order, I’ll be adding some pre-made flourishes to my cart.   Just a couple.  😉

I used a black 3-d glaze pen to create some simple jewelry and to add a bit of trim to the dress.  It doesn’t show well (or at all) in the photo, but I also added a touch of sparkle to the eye shadow using a clear Spica glitter pen.
