MFT Previews, Day 2

Hi everyone!  I’m jumping in today with Day 2 of March release previews from My Favorite Things.  (Release time 10 p.m., Wednesday, March 3rd.)  Today the team is posting samples using two new sets, Clearly Sentimental About You and Joy Ride.  I chose Joy Ride.  🙂

On the Go…Go…Go

   MFTOTGGG

This fun set consists of the image you see here, a little dog, a piece of luggage and five fun sentiments with a bit of a travel theme.

I paired my image with Cosmo Cricket’s new Joy Ride paper.   I thought the crazy numbers and spinning clock hands were a great match with the sentiment.

For a bit of an “extra touch,” I colored over the goggles, headlight and wheels with a clear 3-d glaze pen (which, of course, you cannot see).

Here’s the little dog on the inside of my card:

JiFFy Time–All Caught Up

Just in the knick of time, my JiFFy friends and I are squeezing in our February challenge.  This month I sent to everyone “Inspiration” from Cosmo Cricket’s new Material Girl collection.  Once it was en route, Lori revealed that she had chosen this adorable Crafty Cuppie image from Taylored Expressions.   I think it’s a perfect match!

Do Something Creative Everyday

   CCED

I used my Nestabilities to create a scalloped frame for my image, then cut a circle from the peachy-pink paper to place behind the image and scallops.

TECCCUOn the actual stamp, there is a plain piece of paper in the center of the table.  I used the little cuppie with hearts from one of the other images in the set to create a sort of “stamped piece” for this crafty cuppie.  She’s making a love card. 🙂

Please check out what the other JiFFy girls created using this same image and paper!

Buttons and Bows, Oh My!

Hi All!  Are you ready for the whirlwind of posts?  I have something to share everyday for the next seven days.  Some days two posts, one day I even have three.  Sorry!  Hopefully you’ll like them!  🙂

It’s time for another challenge with Kraftin’ Kimmie.  This week Andrea has challenged us to use our buttons and bows.  If you’d like to play along, please post a link on Kimmie’s Challenge Blog so you’ll have a chance to win a free Puppy Love stamp!  (Speaking of the challenge blog, did you see the little snippets of previews for a special Kraftin’ Kimmie release?  We’ll be posting samples beginning Tuesday!  Stay tuned!)

I Am Woman Hear Me ROAR

   KKIAWHMR

Is she a sassy thing or what?  I thought I’d sweeten her up a bit with some delicately patterned paper and pretty ribbon.  Did it work? lol.

KKHMRCUI colored her with Copics and added ground/grass with pencils.

I wanted to add a tiny bow to the back of Polly’s dress.  (That’s Polly the Bar Wench…hee, hee…cracks me up!)

I first tried to tie the bow myself but it didn’t look that great.  So I used the smallest ‘setting’ on my Bow Easy.  The bow is just a tad bigger than the bow on the actual stamp, but it works.

The sassy sentiment to go along with this sassy lassy is on the inside of the card.

Be sure to check out the other design team samples on the Krafty Blog!  I’ll be back in a bit with this month’s JiFFy challenge!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Spared!

Hi everyone!  Yay, we were spared the snow…this time.  But we do have some rough sounding wind out there.  Something is whistling like crazy.  Eek.  I probably won’t sleep well tonight. I’ll be too worried about a tree falling on the house or the siding blowing off.  (Tomorrow might be a “Venti” kind of day.  Ooooohhhh…new Starbucks flavor, Cherry Mocha.  Yum!)

While I had my Go Ahead…Wish Unity kit out, I decided to make the first of many birthday cards I’ll need in the next couple of months.  I’m really trying to stay ahead of the game this time.  (**trying**)

Go Ahead…Wish

   UGAW

I used my SU markers to ink the image and sentiment, then used my Copics to add a bit of shading and coloring.  Super easy and really quick.  (I can’t say that about very many of my cards.  Some take days.  I’m slow.)

I might as well send out a warning right now.  I have (literally) a marathon of upcoming posts.  Some days (many) I will have two…like Saturday.  My JiFFy friends and I will be back with our February challenge and I’ll have my Kraftin’ Kimmie Saturday challenge card to share as well.  Then in the upcoming days, I’ll have new Kraftin’ Kimmie and My Favorite Things.  Whew.  I’ve been crankin’.  I hope all the extra posts don’t drive you crazy.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great night/day!

Stamps:  Unity “Go Ahead…Wish”   Cardstock:  Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream  Patterned Paper: Cosmo Cricket “Girl Friday” Wednesday and Thursday   Accessories:  Stampin’ Up Not Quite Navy, Summer Sun and Black markers, Copic markers (BG0000, BG49, W00, W1), Prima “Madeline” trim, Basic Grey button/white string, sewing machine.  Finished size 5 ½” x 4 ¼”

Frazzled?

Just having a little fun today.  I love this little ragdoll.

Frazzled?  (yes)

     UFMG

She’s from Unity‘s “Go Ahead…Wish” kit.  I paired her with my favorite new collection, Cosmo Cricket’s Material Girl.  (I got mine from Jacksonbelle Embellishments.)  I colored, cut out and adhered the doll on dimensional boosters.  Trim is adhered using a thin strip of double-sided tape.  And you can find my little button wrap tutorial here.

I hate to be so super-short, but I’m off to get the kids to school, run a couple errands and then get some things done around here..and hopefully get caught up on my blog hopping.  (More snow tonight/tomorrow…ugh.  Just what I wanted to hear.  Thankfully, it isn’t supposed to amount to too much, one to three inches.  I hope that is IT.)

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

Stamps:  Unity Stamp Co. “Go Ahead…Wish”   Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black   Cardstock: Stampin’ Up Ruby Red, Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream   Patterned Paper: Cosmo Cricket Material Girl 6×6 paper pad   Accessories: Copic markers (E000, E00, E31, E33, E35, E57, R14, R17, YR23, YR31, YG63, YG67), Maya Road trim, PTI buttons, white string, dimensional boosters.  Finished size 5” x 5”.

Oops

I feel kind of bad.  Instead of turning the page of my birthday calendar at the end of January (or better yet, in the middle of January), I turned it this weekend.  And I missed a friend’s birthday.  But it gave me a chance to use the new Twisted Threesome set by My Favorite Things.  (Some of the sentiments in this set may be offensive to some.  Just thought I should point that out.)

Where was my head?

        MFTWWMH

This sentiment cracks me up… so perfect with the WTG images.

The fancy velvet ribbon with ruffled trim was a gift from my sweet friend, Jody.  (I love it!)

FMTWHCU2As you can see, I paper-pieced the entire image (even the tiny candle flames).  I didn’t want the big polka dots on the dress as is on the stamp, so I used a teardrop black Memento stamp pad, carefully inking around the outer edges of the dress with the pointed end of the pad.  It worked great.

The remainder of the sentiment helps to finish the inside:

             WWMHIN

This card will be going out in tomorrow’s mail…unless I forget to buy stamps in the morning.

And I’m trying to work up the nerve to use my favorite sentiment from the Twisted set.  We’ll see.  🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

Stamps:  My Favorite Things “You Take the Cake” and “Twisted Threesome”   Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Ranger Tattered Rose Distress   Cardstock: Papertrey Ink Dark Chocolate, Vintage Cream   Patterned Paper: Basic Grey Porcelain 6×6 paper pad   Accessories: Copic markers (E000, E00, W1), ribbon, Webster’s Pages ruffled trim, sponge, double-sided red-line adhesive and dimensional boosters.  Finished size 4 ¼” x 5 ½”.

A Kraftin’ Kimmie Challenge and a Button Wrap How-to

It’s Saturday and that means it’s time for a challenge with my Kraftin’ Kimmie friends (and stamps).  This week Vicki has us using two or more KK images to create a scene.  I decided to use the boy (minus the dog) and the girl (minus the wagon) from Kimmie’s latest release.

Forever Friends

   KKFFBG

It wasn’t difficult to omit the wagon from the Puppy Love image or the dog from the Gone Fishin’ image, but removing the dog leash was a bit KKFFCUtricky.  After inking the image, I soaked the tip of a pointed q-tip in baby wipe solution (pooled at the bottom of the wipes container) and then wiped away the leash lines from the stamp.  After stamping, I then drew back in the missing lines from the overalls and bucket handle using a fine tip black marker.

To make things easier, the boy was stamped, colored and cut out, then adhered over the girl.  There was no way I was going to try to mask this.  (Plus I like that the ends of the boy’s hat are lifted a bit.)

Be sure to check out the other design team samples on Kimmie’s Challenge Blog HERE.  And if you’d like to play along, please post a link on the challenge blog and you’ll have a chance to win a free stamp from Kraftin’ Kimmie!

Button Wrap How-to

I’ve had quite a few requests to post a tutorial on how I tie string around my buttons as I’ve done on this card, so I took a few extra photos along the way to show you how I do that. It’s very easy.

     KKBW1KKBW1KKBW1

First I mark my button holes with either a pencil or the tip of a paper-piercer.  Punch through the marks with the piercer, inserting the piercer as far as it will go so the holes will be large enough to slip a large threaded needle through without tugging.

       KKBW2

Beginning from the back, stitch your button to the card front, leaving the two long tails of string hanging behind.

     KKBW3

Bring the two ends from the back and begin tying the string around the button.   At this time you can adjust the distance between the two strings on the right side of the button.  Tie tightly once.

       KKBW4

And then tie again, knotting the string.  Use sharp scissors to nip off the ends of the strings just beneath the edge of the button.  Done.  🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Hurry Home

Hi everyone!  Just a quick post tonight. I need to go sit on the couch to see who Jake dumps next.  (And I’ll be drinking a big glass of wine as I just received an email stating that the schools are closed AGAIN tomorrow!  We’re pushing two weeks off here, people.  My patience is seriously being tried.)

Hurry Home

   MFTHH

This is another of the new Jolinne images from My Favorite Things.   For some reason, I had a bit of a hard time shading the luggage so I used HHCU2my Prismacolor pencils over the markers.  Typically I only use them to color in the ground or floor but they pulled double duty here.

.

The only little “extra” on this card is the dots of black glaze pen I used on the girl’s eyes.  It adds just a bit of interest by making her eyes darker.  And shiny.

.

Here’s the inside.  Again, nothing fancy.  (But I do love this paper.)

               HHIN

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I’ll be back tomorrow night with an MFT hop.  Have a good night/day!

Kraftin’ Kimmie’s February Release Hop

Hi everyone!  Welcome to Kraftin’ Kimmie’s February release blog hop!  If you want to start from the beginning, just head over to the Kraftin’ Kimmie Challenge Blog.  As you hop from blog to blog, be sure to leave a comment at each and every stop because three lucky stampers will win packages of stamps from the new release!  And when you’re done hopping, be sure to head over to the Kraftin Kimmie store, because all the new images are available NOW!

This month’s releases include four new fantastic Emmylou images from Crissy Armstrong, two adorable Cindy and Mindy images from Jean Grant, five new swashbluckling pirate images from Annie Rodrigue (Moonlight Whispers) and a new set of coordinating Pirate Sentiments.  And you’ll get to check out all the new stamps throughout the hop!!

Gimme that Booty!

   KKGTB4

This is Alicia, the Strawberry Pirate.  She’s the first release of one of Annie’s original works of art.  And guess what?  Each and every order placed at Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps from Sunday, February 14th to Monday, February 15th will be eligible to win a free 5″ x 7″ print of Alicia!  (You can see it here.)  So one random winner will be receiving this illustration in with her (or his) package!  Exciting?  I think so!

KKGTBCU2Once I had colored the image, I added dots of black glaze pen to the strawberries, her sword and dress.  If my daughter hadn’t “misplaced” my clear glaze pen, I would have added dots of that onto Alicia’s hair beads.  (Hopefully it will turn up soon.)

Your next stop along the hop is with our very sweet and talented DIANA.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!
