It’s JiFFy Time!

Hi everyone!  It’s time for a March challenge with my JiFFy friends!  Just as a refresher, here’s how it works.  One of us chooses the paper and another chooses the image.  The challenge is that we never know what we’re getting until we get it.  Noone reveals their choices. It’s always a surprise.  And the fun part is that it is Just For Fun.

This month Carole sent to everyone this fab “Brown Rice” paper from Jillibean Soup’s Old World Cabbage Stew collection.  Once the paper was on it’s way, Julie revealed that she had chosen this adorable Picnic with Little Red image from My Cute Stamps.  Another perfect match!  Whew!  🙂

    JFFSmile

After coloring my images, I cut them out, using an Xacto blade to remove the enclosed areas.  To create my “grass,” I used my super-sharp, super-nice ribbon scissors(#4) (which I keep hidden from my little crafter) to clip along one edge of a strip of green velour ribbon.   I JFFSmileInstitched around the edges, then added my images, popping them up on foam dimensionals.

I had a few scraps of the paper left and couldn’t bear to throw them away so I decided to finish the inside.  (I used cardstock for my grass here.)

Be sure to check out what the other JiFFy girls created using this same paper and image!  I’m always so excited to see for myself!  🙂

A Quick and Easy Get Well

Hi everyone!  I have a very quick and easy card to share today.  I actually made it a while back but just never posted it here.

Caught a Bug?

           CHFCAB

I just love these germ faces from Comforting Hugs by Cornish Heritage Farms.  So funny.  🙂

I always have a really hard time with simple cards.  I admire those made by others, but when I make them, they always seem to be lacking…something.  One good thing about this one is that it will easily go through the mail.

CHFCABCUI did pop up the germ on the left.  I just couldn’t bring myself to leave everything flat.

That’s it for today.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

A Sweet Happy Birthday

Hi everyone!  New Bellas are in the house!  And I’m excited because I sooo wanted to get some of these Izzie stamps from Emily’s last release.   I finally got them!  (Lots of them.)

Happy Birthday

    SBHBI

Isn’t she sweet? I just love her…the curly hair, the bow, the face, the old fashioned outfit…ack!  🙂

SBHBDICUI didn’t intend to cut her out, but my hand picked up a trace of ink from some unknown area on my stamp table, and I unknowingly smeared it way too close to the image.  So I went with Plan B.  All is well in the end…I think.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Mega March Hopping with JustRite

Welcome to Day 2 of the JustRite Mega March Blog Hop!  I am so excited to have been asked to participate!  For three days, 80+ designers are sharing samples using JustRite’s latest releases (and they are fabulous)!

I’ve always loved daisies and so I chose to use JustRite’s new Beautiful Blossoms.

May All Your Weeds be Flowers

   JRWBF

I dug through my stash of 3-d items and found a pack of CD holders by 7gypies.  But instead of using the pockets for CDs, mine holds seed packets.

JRWBFIn2

On the inside, I used a sentiment from Seeds of Kindness.

There are some fantastic prizes along the way on this hop, so please read these details (if you haven’t already):

30 designers, FIVE shopping sprees each day.  No one knows where the prizes will be!  Each day of the hop JustRite will have five Mystery Blog Candy Prizes hidden along the hop with a total retail value of  $600.  JustRite will randomly select five mystery blogs each day of the hop and randomly allocate each of the shopping sprees.  For your chance to win, simply leave a little love (a comment) on each designer’s blog including the JustRite blog.  The more designers you leave comments with, the better your chances of winning.  Each day’s comments will remain open for three days.  A winner from each of the mystery blogs’ comments will be randomly chosen using Random.org.  Consult the listing of designers at the JustRite blog each day (each day’s designers will be different) and start out on your way!  Beginning Friday, March 26, summaries of all the winners will be posted on the JustRite blog.  Good luck to everyone and enjoy all the JustRite eye candy along the hop!

Today during the JustRite Mega March Blog Hop (Day Two) JustRite and its sponsors will be giving away the following five prizes:

· $200 JustRite Shopping Spree
· $100 Spellbinders Shopping Spree
· $100 Stamp Simply Ribbon Store Spree, and
· Two additional $100 JustRite Shopping Sprees!

Blog comments for Day Two will be open until Friday at 6pm EST.  On Saturday, JustRite will announce on their blog which five blogs have the mystery candy for Day Two.  You will need to go to the JustRite blog to determine where you need to go to find out if you are one of the five lucky winners.

Your next stop in the hop is with **LUCY ABRAMS**.   (Below is the complete blog hop list, just in case you get lost or something weird happens along the way.)

Oh, The Things People Say

Hi.  🙂  My card today was inspired by a recent trip to our local Barnes & Noble.  I also have been really wanting to use this Betty the Bookworm image from Stamping Bella.

Oh The Places You’ll Go!

   SBOTPYG

We’re going on vacation soon so I popped into the local book store to pick up a couple things for the kids.  Seven hours of travel with a ten and eight year old could easily end up not being the most pleasant of experiences without various sources of entertainment.

So I’m in the store and I happen to find a Pokemon World Book of Puzzles.  Perfect!  I walk to the register and there’s an older lady there whom I’ve seen many times.  She’s polite enough but doesn’t really go out of her way to be friendly, which is fine.  I hand her the book, she looks at the front, looks at the back, then gives me a bit of a strange look.  I tell her, jokingly of course, “It isn’t for me.” And do you know what she said?  “I don’t care.”  I just looked at her.  I was thinking … Really?  Did you seriously just say ‘I don’t care’?  lol.  I think I did mutter under my breath “ok.”  I know she doesn’t really care what I’m buying, but to say that?  I just thought it was kind of rude.  Maybe she didn’t realize she was talking out loud. *shrugging*  Anyway…

I used Copics to color my image and the paper is new Pink Paislee Bayberry Cottage.  Stampin’ Up’s old Blue Bayou ribbon was a perfect match (which I consider lucky because that blue is a hard match to make).

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I’ll be back soon!  🙂

Stamps: Stamping Bella “Betty the Bookworm” and “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!”  Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black  Cardstock: Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream   Patterned Paper:  Pink Paislee Bayberry Cottage 6×6 paper pad  Accessories: Copic markers (E0000, E00, E31, E33, E35, E50, E57, R20, R85, R89, B93, B95, B0000, R0000, W00, W1, W3), Spellbinders Nestabilities, SU ribbon, Prima Jaqueline crocheted trim, sewing machine, dimensional boosters.  Finished size 5” x 5”.

An Eyelet Here, An Eyelet There

It’s time for another challenge with Kraftin’ Kimmie!  Today we’re using eyelets… one or more, it doesn’t matter.  If you’d like to play along, you can find all the details here.  Don’t forget to post a link there on the Challenge Blog because one lucky winner will receive a free Lola Da Vinci image as I’ve used here.

You Color My World

   ofp

I had the bright idea to make a little paint palette using circle punches and eyelets.  Then it dawned on me that Lola is holding a big wall-type brush….which she would not use with a palette.  Silly me.  I decided I liked it enough to leave it alone though.

To get the little hump on the one end of the circles, I cut that rounded “hump” with scissors.  Looking at the underside of the punch, I inserted my paper, then lifted the “hump” part out of the circle so it wouldn’t punch.  Once the ‘almost whole’ circle was punched, I trimmed just a bit to smooth the edges between the circle and the “hump.”  (I hope that makes sense.)

And this is more of that gorgeous Basic Grey Kioshi paper.  🙂

You can see other samples by the design team HERE.  I hope you’ll play along!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great weekend!

Hang in There

Hey there!  I’m posting this way later than I had originally intended.  Time just slipped away.  You know how it goes.

Hang in There Friend

    **TEMPORARILY REMOVED FOR PUBLICATION**

I’ve used last month’s Unity set again, Nothing but Blue Skies.  I think the little bird houses are so sweet.  (I like birds…as long as they aren’t stalking me…constantly pecking on my windows…no matter which room I’m in.)

Anyway, I paired this image with Basic Grey’s new Kioshi paper.  Oh my gosh, this paper is gorgeous!  And it is just screaming to be used with black.  I ordered a 6 x 6 pad from Jacksonbelle Embellishments, but I seriously am thinking about buying another.  I really like it.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I’m off to watch Survivor.  ETA: Never mind.  Darn basketball.
Have a great day!

You can find it HERE.

Shop ’til You “Drop”!

   MFTSTYD

I love ALL of the sentiments in this set.  They are SO cute, so different!  I MFTSTYDCUused my favorite here.  (My second favorite is “The baby made me do it.”  Hee, hee.)  You’ll have a hard time deciding which to use first, like me!

As I often do, I paper-pieced my entire image, placing a pop dot beneath the left and front right bags and the “bump.”  🙂

I only used markers for skin and background with Prismacolor pencils to shade in some ground.

I used the “Congratulations” sentiment along with a silhouette of WTG to quickly finish the inside.

Playing with New Toys

With the birthday palooza over, I took a bit of time yesterday to play with some new stamps and paper.  I’m so behind on using my Unity kits, which is a shame because I really do like them and always look forward to seeing what the next month will bring.

Songbird Serenade

  TRFP

This image and sentiment are both from Unity’s February kit, Nothing but Blue Skies.  I really like the bit of pattern on the bird’s wing.

The paper is new Queen Bee from Pink Paislee.  I found mine at Jacksonbelle Embellishments.  Lindsey has more ordered and lots of new items in stock including brand new Basic Grey, new Pure Innocence and Jolinne by My Favorite Things, absolutely adorable Stampavie and more!

I’ll be back tomorrow with an MFT/VIP hop, then on Wednesday with another card using this cute kit!  Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

When in Doubt, Dance!

   KKWIDD2

I decided to pair bold papers and a simple layout with Monique.    Isn’t she pretty?

KKWIDDCU2After coloring with Copics, I colored over Monique’s hair with a buttermilk glitter pen.  A red glitter pen added sparkle to her outfit, and a black one added some sparkle to her eyeliner.

I added a line of (ancient) Gelly Gems beneath the ribbon and placed one on the end of Monique’s baton.

Your next stop along the hop is sweet DIANA.

Thank you so much for visiting (and hopping)!  Have a great day!
