A Rather iffy JiFFy

Note:  Blog gremlins at work once again.  Ctrl-F5 to see latest post!  Thanks!

It’s been a while since my JiFFy friends and I posted, so just to refresh your memory (or if you’re new to my blog), once a month one of us chooses patterned paper and sends to all.  Once the paper is en route, another of us reveals the image we are to use.  We never know what we’re getting until we’ve got it.  Sometimes it’s quite a challenge, but it’s always Just For Fun….usually.

This month Julie chose Sweetest Day by Unity.  And Carole, just by coincidence, selected the perfect coordinating paper, Echo Park’s “Madison Plaid” from their Little Girl Collection.  But as cute as that strawberry is, we just did not get along.  And once I finally had it colored and was somewhat satisfied with my results (keyword=somewhat), I had a hard time deciding what to do with it.

Wishing You the Sweetest Day Ever

I played with the color of the strawberry so many times, I don’t even know which markers I used.  I ended up coloring the seeds with a 3-d glaze pen and the strawberry piece is popped up on foam boosters.  The sentiment is bent a bit into a ‘blowing flag’ type shape but that isn’t clear in the photo.

Aside from my “eh” card, I hope you’ll check out what the other JiFFy girls came up with using this same image and paper.  I’m sure theirs are MUCH better than mine! 🙂  Also, we have a fabby guest this month, Carolyn King!  So fun to have her play along!  🙂

Another Sketchy Wednesday with MFT

Hi everyone!  We have another great sketch this week for My Favorite Things’ Wednesday Stamp Club!

Oh Snap! (which rhymes with what I’m usually thinking)

For my card this week, I chose one of the original à la modes sets, Picture Perfect.    Along the bottom, I used MFT’s Dainty Lace Border Die-namics.

I colored with Copics, then paper-pieced the skirt.   The heart was cut from the patterned paper.

On the inside, I used scrap strips of the patterned paper and stamped a simple silhoutte using VersaMagic Jumbo Java ink.

You can find direct links to DT samples HERE on the MFT blog.  The info is also posted in the MFT forum in SCS.   (Look for the most recent WSC thread numbered 13.)  And remember, if you upload your card to the SCS gallery using the keyword shown on the sketch, you will have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money!  One winner is chosen at random each week.

In other MFT news, April previews begin on Friday!  It’s another great month!  🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a fabulous day!

New from Paper Smooches

Hello.  🙂  Just popping in to share a little card using one of Paper Smooches’ April releases.

My ♥ is a Flutter

This is Giddy Bugs, a really cute set with several different bugs and sweet sentiments.

I stamped the butterfly, colored, cut out and adhered over an image I stamped onto the patterned papers.  I applied adhesive to the head and body portions only, then bent up the wings just a bit.

The hearts were die-cut using My Favorite Things’ Hearts a Plenty Die-namics.  I stitched down the centers of the hearts, but then decided they looked to plain so I added the buttons.

Still waiting for life to slow down here.  But the silver lining is that the drama seems to have calmed…thank goodness (and I hope I didn’t just jinx myself).

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Stamps:  Paper Smooches “Giddy Bugs”   Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black    Paper:  Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream (Lily Bee Designs “This & That” (6×6)   Accessories:   Copic markers (Y21, R14, R24, BG10, BG0000, W1), MFT Hearts a Plenty Die-namics die, buttons, string, black Sakura 3-d glaze pen (dotted on eyes).   Finished size 4 3/4″ x 4 3/4″.

You’re a Great Friend

Hi everyone!  I liked this week’s sketch with My Favorite Things so much that I decided to use it again.  (And I think I like this card better than my first.)

You’re a Great Friend

Here I’ve used Primrose from MFT’s Pure Innocence line.  The papers are new from Lily Bee Designs This & That collection.  (I ♥ Lily Bee’s new papers.  Such tiny and pretty prints and in 6×6!)

I colored with markers and pieced the dress.  I applied adhesive only to the top part of the dress so that the bottom could be bent up just a bit.  The little heart/button embellishment was inspired by Joanne.  She creates the cutest little stacks of circles, buttons, hearts, etc.  I die-cut the heart using MFT’s Hearts a Plenty Die-namics.

On the inside, I stamped the girl in Versa Magic Aegean Blue and used a sentiment from Apple for You.

You can find all the sketch info here.  If you decide to play along, be sure to upload your card to the SCS gallery using the keyword shown on the sketch for your chance to win up to $20 in MFT money!  One winner is randomly chosen each week.

Spring Has (not) Sprung

Hi everyone! It’s time for another challenge with Kraftin Kimmie!  This week Andrea has asked us to use Spring colors on our creations.  I don’t know about you, but I’m SO ready for Spring.  I was on a third grade field trip to a farm yesterday and when we arrived, it was 38 degrees.  And breezy.  I thought I would freeze to death.  Two hours after getting home, I was still wearing my coat.  So come on Spring!  Where are you???

How’ve You Bean?

I’m not a huge fan of pastels, but I did find some pretty papers in my stash from October Afternoon’s Ducks in a Row collection.

I used my favorite of Kimmie’s new releases, AngieI colored with Copics, pieced the robe and then added lots of little Primas, looping the string around as I moved from flower to flower.

To see more springy creations, head on over to the Krafty Blog.  And if you decide play along, but sure to post a link to your creation there on the blog for your chance to win a free Caroline stamp (as used by Andrea).

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Getting Sketchy, Week 12

Hi everyone! It’s Wednesday so that means it’s time to get sketchy with My Favorite Things

Sending Butterfly Kisses

This week I decided to use Butterfly Kisses, another of my Pure Innocence sets that had yet to become inky.

After stamping and coloring the girl, I stamped the wing portion again onto vellum paper (wiping off the little bits of hair that hung over the edges and then drying with a heat gun).  I used a kraft knife to cut the lines along her arms, and when cutting out the vellum wings, I kept the arms attached.  (In other words, I cut out the wing and arm as one piece for each side.)  I applied adhesive over the cuts on the back of the stamped image, then inserted the wings on the front, aligning all lines.  The adhesive held the pieces in place, and the slit provided just the right amount of “lift” for the wings.

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from Flower Girl as well as a silhouette of the butterfly girl.

You can find direct links to DT samples HERE on the MFT Blog.  The info is also posted in the MFT forum on SCS.  (Look for the most recent WSC thread numbered 12).  And remember, if you upload your card in the SCS gallery using the keyword shown on the sketch, you will have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money!  One winner is chosen at random each week.

Love You

Hi everyone.  I’m still running on over-drive here but wanted to pop in quickly to share another of my “rejects.”  (I don’t really think of them as “rejects.”  Maybe I should call them “non-acceptances.”  That sounds a little better.)

Love You!  Love, Me.

Here I’ve used More Essential Sentiments and the Hearts a Plenty Die-namics die by My Favorite Things

I used a salad plate to trace the curve of the “canopy,” Fiskars scallop edge scissors for the border and a green Copic to dye the white string.  I placed foam boosters beneath the bottom edge of the canopy, and three of the hearts are popped up as well.

Once I knew the card was not accepted, I finished the inside.  I created a second canopy, placed  two hanging hearts (not popped up) and stamped the “closing” sentiment.

I’ll be back soon!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  🙂  (I’m still crazy busy, but at least I can smile now…and I’m not sighing every three minutes.)

Stamps:  My Favorite Things “More Essential Sentiments”    Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black and Desert Sand   Paper:  Prism Intense Kiwi, Papertrey Ink white, Doodlebug Sweet Love “Forget Me Nots”   Accessories:   MFT Hearts a Plenty Die-namics, Fiskars scallop scissors, YG05 Copic marker, white string, foam boosters.  Finished size 5″ x 5″.

Button it Up!

Hi everyone.  It’s time for another Krafty challenge with Kraftin Kimmie.  This week Krista has asked us to use big buttons (or “button” in my case).

Sweet Little One

Today I’ve used Diana, one of the latest releases from the Moonlight Whispers line.   I also used my new Jillibean Soup Spotted Owl 6×6 paper.  I’m really loving all these new CHA releases.  🙂

Diana is so sweet.  (And she’s named after Kimmie’s mommy, who really is so sweet.  🙂 )

To see more samples using big buttons, pop on over to the Krafty Blog.  If you decide to play along, don’t forget to post a link to your creation for your chance to win a free stamp from Kraftin Kimmie!

Getting Sketchy, Week 11 (better late than never)

Hi everyone.  I’ve had quite a few fires in the pan here lately and so I’m behind on lots of things.  It’s been draining.  I haven’t had a chance to do any blog hopping, and I’ve just now finished my Wednesday sketch card for My Favorite Things.  But it’s only Thursday, so I suppose that’s not too bad.  I’m crossing my fingers that things return to normal soon. My head has been spinning.  (And we all know that’s not pretty.)

Happy Bird-day!

For this week’s sketch, I decided to go with You’re So Tweet from the Pure Innocence line.

I didn’t add a lot of doo-dads, but I did use two small chipboard stickers I purchased with my Crate Paper Neighborhood collection.  (One of my faves of the new releases!  Really cute patterns!)

I kept the inside simple, as usual, with just a silhoutte of the girl and another short sentiment.

You can find direct links to DT samples HERE on the MFT Blog.  The info is also posted in the MFT forum on SCS.  (Look for the most recent WSC thread numbered 11).  And remember, if you upload your card in the SCS gallery using the keyword shown on the sketch, you will have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money!  One winner is chosen at random each week.
