That’s How I Roll (and Hand Stitching)

Hi everyone. 🙂  Carole has a new challenge for you and Kraftin Kimmie’s Krafty Girls.  This week she is having us hand-stitch.  Yep.  No machine.  By hand.  (She’s so cruel.)  😉   I’m afraid I was totally uncreative with mine, but if you look closely, you will see the very straight, uninteresting stitches along the right side of the floral panel.

That’s How I Roll

This week I’ve used Roxy, another of Kimmie’s latest releases from the Moonlight Whispers line.  For my stitching, I used white string, dyed to match the paper using an RV66 Copic marker.

To see more (creative) samples of hand-stitching, you can check out the Krafty Blog HERE.  If you decide to play along, remember to post a link there on the Krafty Blog for your chance to win a free stamp from Kraftin Kimmie!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

Chill Out

Hey there!  I’m back today to share that one last card I mentioned the other day.

Chill Out

I had created this for a pub sketch.  When I saw the layout, all I could think of was a crown.  But I tried to put a different kind of spin on it by turning those points into mountains.

I stamped Fred (from Fred Bear Goes Camping by My Favorite Things), colored him with Copics and cut him out.  The tree and leaves were die-cut using MFT’s Sheltering Tree & Leaf Trio Die-namics and I cut (a lot of) little slits in the gold strip to resemble grass.  Once the slits were cut, I ran my finger beneath the tops to bend them forward just a bit.

I’m off to work on MFT June previews which start NEXT WEEK!  🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Stamps:  My Favorite Things “Fred Bear Goes Camping” and “Snow Angel” (Pure Innocence-sentiment only    Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black   Paper:  Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream (base), MFT Cream Perfect Paper Panel, My Mind’s Eye Stella & Ruby “Hattie” (6×6)    Accessories:   Copic markers (E31, E33, E17, E08, R20, YR23), MFT Sheltering Tree & Leaf Trio Die-namics, jute string, Michael’s brad.  Finished size 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″.

My Type of Chick

It’s another sketchy Wednesday with My Favorite Things!

You’re my Type of Chick

The sketch this week *really* pulled me out of my comfort zone.    I had a terrible time tilting that panel.  And I could NOT bring myself to curve the top of the middle panel.  (The sketch is below).  So other than that curved edge, I stuck to the sketch (taking a deep breath to adhere that center piece…crooked.)  🙂

I used Four Point Frame Die-namics and Own Your Story stamp set.   The circle was cut using a 1 3/4″ punch.  To add a bit more dimension, I placed two cardboard circles (also cut using the punch) beneath the stamped sentiment.

Along the bottom, I used MFT’s Open Scallop Border Die-namics, die-cutting two pieces, one for the strip and a second for the little pieces within the scallops.

On the inside, I used Typewriter Alphabet to spell the sentiment.

You can find direct links to DT samples HERE on the MFT blog.  The info is also posted in the MFT Forum in SCS.  (Look for the most recent WSC thread numbered 21.)   And remember, if you upload your card to the SCS gallery using the keyword shown on the sketch, you will have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money!  One winner is chosen at random each week.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Sweet

Hello.  🙂   I haven’t done much in the way of stamping lately.  Too busy.  But I did start to clean my stamp room and lo and behold…I found two more publication “non-acceptances.”  I changed one just a bit and left the other alone.  Here’s the one I changed.

Sweet

This card uses Make Mine a Double, one of the cute Pure Innocence sets from My Favorite Things

On the inside I stamped a second sentiment in black and the girl using a lighter purple ink.

Since I had a couple strips of patterned paper left over, I decided to create a matching envelope …very simply.

I’ll be back soon with MFT’s weekly sketch, then I’ll share the last of my rejects!  😉   (Said jokingly.  I like both.)

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Text Me

Hi everyone.  It’s Saturday which means it’s Challenge Day with the Krafty Girls!  This week Tara is having us use text paper or the word “text” in our sentiments.

You’re Fintastic

Today I’ve used an image from Kraftin Kimmie‘s newest artist, Cheryl AlgerLittle Summer Girl.  She actually comes along with the sentiment “Wishing You a Sunny Day” but I’ve used one from Kimmie’s Mermaid Sentiments.

The text paper was on the back side of one of the patterned papers I used.  I found the word summer (in the upper right-hand corner) and decided I’d just go with that.  🙂

If you’d like to see more “text” samples, please check out the Krafty Blog HERE.  And if you decide to play along, be sure to post a link there on the blog for your chance to win a free Roxy image (as used by our hostess, Tara).

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!  🙂

It’s JiFFy Time!

Hi everyone!  My JiFFy friends and I are together today with our latest challenge.  And joining us is our friend, Sherrie Siemens!   Yay!  So glad you could play along with us, Sherrie!  🙂

As a refresher, here’s how our challenge works:  One of us chooses the patterned papers we are to use and mails to all.  Once the paper is on its way, the image picker reveals the chosen image and sends to all (unless we already have it, which we often do).   Sometimes the image and paper are a good mix.  Sometimes they are not.  But it always is Just For Fun.

Hang in There

This month Alli chose Chlorine Sprinkles and Lace along with Apricot Sprinkles and Lace from Bella Boulevard’s Sophisticates papers.  And for the image, I chose Stamping Bella‘s Little Peep’s Heart.

Since I had the stamp, I decided to piece my heart and the little peep’s dress.  I added the ground with pencils, and colored my (white) string with a Copic marker.

Be sure to check out what the other JiFFy girls created with this same image and paper.  I can’t wait to see!

Happy Birthday, Lori!

Today is my dear, sweet, funny and amazing friend, Lori Craig‘s birthday.  Just a few (tons) of her friends have gotten together to wish her a very happy day.  I’m so proud (and lucky) to be one of them.  🙂

For my card to Lori, I used Patricia Birthdaycake, one of the many Stamping Bella images that sit on my desk in a nice little container, patiently waiting for ink.

I used my favorite sheets of Lily Bee Designs “Picket Fence” papers, my favorite new purple ribbon and two of the prettiest new Copic colors, V20 and V25.

You can’t see it in this photo, but I also used a bit of Lilac and Clear Spica glitter pen over the dress, hat, wings and cake.

My coloring isn’t perfect, and I’m just a little paranoid sending this to a representative of Copic (hee, hee, hee).  But nonetheless, I love how this card turned out.

And Lori, I hope you have one AMAZING day.  Because you deserve it, my friend.  ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

I’ll be back tomorrow with Lori and the rest of my JiFFy friends for a long over-due JiFFy Challenge.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  🙂

Thank You…for comforting me

Hi everyone!  It’s sketch time with My Favorite Things!

This week I’ve used Lily of the Valley, our May ‘calendar’ Pure Innocence set.

Before adhering my image to the cloud paper, I added in the grass with colored pencils.  The dress is pieced, leaving the bottom “unglued” and bent slightly upward.  The stem of flowers is not adhered to the paper, allowing the flowers to bend slightly forward off the paper as well.

On the inside, I stamped the remainder of the sentiment.

The tiny hearts were die-cut using MFT’s Notched Tag Die-namics.

And the scallops were die-cut using our Simply Scallops Die-namics.

You can find direct links to DT samples HERE on the MFT blog.  The info is also posted in the MFT Forum in SCS.  (Look for the most recent WSC thread numbered 20.)   And remember, if you upload your card to the SCS gallery using the keyword shown on the sketch, you will have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money!  One winner is chosen at random each week.

Don’t Look Back…You’ve Already Been There

I used one of our past sketches for my card (#16), switching out the circle for a square image panel.

I pieced the shirt and used markers for the rest.  I initially shaded my background with a yellow marker then decided blue/green would look better.  You can still see a lot of the yellow though…

A super-simple finish to the inside.

Your next stop along the hop is with KERRY

Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy hopping…and shopping!   🙂

à la modes, Preview 2

Hi everyone!  The My Favorite Things team is back today sharing samples of our second new à la modes — I Treasure Our Friendship.

How fun is this set?  I love her hat…and, of course, the loot.  🙂

After coloring with markers, I used some pencil here and there to add depth.  And once my ribbon was tied, I zapped it a bit with my heat gun for more of a worn/crinkly/pirate-y look.

Along the left edge of the red patterned panel, I tucked a die-cut strip of Dainty Dots.

On the inside, I used a second sentiment from the set and stamped the girl using VersaMagic Jumbo Java ink.

The two new à la modes, as well as the WTG VIP, will be available tonight (5/17) at 10 p.m. EST.

You can find direct links to more previews using this cute set HERE on Kim’s blog.

I’ll be back tonight at 10 p.m. EST for our WTG VIP hop.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!
