Believe

This month’s Design Team Creative Challenge with My Favorite Things is to create in a vintage style.   Fun!  🙂

When I think “vintage,” I think distressing…sponging…stitching…crochet trim.  I included all of those things here.

I used Inspired by Christmas.  The images in this set were perfect for this challenge.  As I was choosing my papers and embellishments, I thought of one of my all-time favorite holiday movies, The Polar Express, and decided to create my own “Believe” ticket.  🙂

I used MFT’s Just the Ticket Die-namics and Stamp set to die-cut the ticket shape and stamp the border.  The word “Believe” was taken from one of the sentiments in the set.  Before tucking my ticket beneath the trim, I lightly sponged the edges using Ranger’s Tea Dye distress ink.

I stamped my Santa using Adirondack Espresso ink then clear embossed.  This helped to darken the stamped image and add just a bit of shine.  (His eyes actually look a bit twinkly.)  To add subtle shades of color, I first wet each area with Copic’s Colorless Blending Solution then slowly added color with light markers.  Santa’s beard, eyebrows and hat trim were left mostly untouched, creating an appearance of a lighter shade.

On the inside, I stamped another sentiment from the set, some swirls from Sassy & Sweet (there are a few around Santa on the front as well), distressed, sponged and added some stitching.

I’ll be back tomorrow for MFT’s Wednesday Stamp Club sketch.  Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!  🙂
