When You Stop and Look Around…

Time for another great sketch with My Favorite Things!  🙂

This week I chose to use Vertical Greetings II (along with one of my favorite new patterned paper collections, My Mind’s Eye “The Sweetest Thing” Lavender.

I used Amuse Studio Cocoa ink, MFT’s Kraft cardstock, Simply Scallops and Pretty Posies Die-namics.  My button is stitched to the flower using perfectly non-fuzzy Hemp Cord.

On the inside, I placed a second pretty flower, more Simply Scallops and stamped a flourish from Finishing Flourishes.

<—Here’s the sketch if you’d like to play along. You can find direct links to more samples HERE.  And remember, if you upload your card to the SCS gallery using the keyword MFTWSC87, you will have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money!  One winner is chosen at random each week.  More info can be found in the MFT Forum in SCS.

I Have a Bright Idea…

I’m trying to get back into the swing of things here after an amazing vacation. I wasn’t ready to come home.  But all good things must come to an end…or so they say.  We came home to loads of laundry, shopping for back-to-school supplies and clothes, an outside electrical issue and a dead computer.  Of course it’s the computer I use for all of my work, so it’s been extremely aggravating.  But things are finally starting to come together.  Slowly.

My card today uses Lightbulb Moment from My Favorite Things a la modes collection.

I’ve also used Fishtail Flags STAXLayered Rose and Simply Scallops Small Die-namics.  Base cardstock is one of my favorite MFT colors, Tangy Orange, and my image is stamped and colored on X-Press Blending Card.

I used Burano ink from Amuse Studio to highlight the word “bright.”

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from Martinis on Me with a partial image from I’ve Got UR Back.  I used a kraft knife to cut around the girl’s arm so she could “lean” on the sentiment flag.

Thanks for stopping by!  I’ll be back soon!

Stamps:  My Favorite Things “Lightbulb Moment,” “Martinis on Me” and I’ve Got UR Back” (a la modes)   Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black and Amuse Studio Burano   Paper:  MFT Tangy Orange, X-Press It Blending Card, My Mind’s The Sweetest Thing “Tangerine” (6×6)   Accessories: Copic markers (E00, E11, BV000, R20, Y21, Y23, E31, E33, R24, R27, E41, E42, E43, BG70, BG90, W00, W1, W3, W5), MFT Fishtail Flags STAX, Layered Rose and Simply Scallops Small Die-namics, button/string.   Finished size 5″ x 5″.

Whoo Loves You? (MFT VIP New Product Tour)

It’s time for this month’s My Favorite Things VIP!  We have yet another duo of incredibly cute PI’s!  The kit is titled Costumed Cuties (and they are  cute indeed!  I couldn’t wait to color).

For $31.95 you can purchase Pure Innocence Prehistoric Girl and Owl Costume stamp sets, Costumed Cuties Sentiments mini (VIP exclusive stamp set – will never be offered for sale or be available again $9 value, FREE) and Peek-a-Boo Trio Die-namics.   You can find the new collection HERE (while supplies last).

I’ve used Owl Costume.  So darn cute!

I also used a Sentiment Strip and the smallest of Triple Scallop Border Die-namics.

I began coloring on X-Press It Blending Card with brown/green Copics (to match my paper).  But as I was coloring, I feared she was starting to look like an artichoke (hee, hee).  So I colored over the green/brown with more of an orange/brown and I’m happy with the results.  I think the body ended up looking more feather-like with the extra bit of color.  I ♥ her.  🙂

I finished the inside simply, answering the question from the front (using another sentiment from the set) and stamping the owl girl in Rich Cocoa ink.

Be sure to check Kim’s blog for direct links to more samples using these cute new sets and die!

Thanks for visiting!  Have a great day!

TGIF…on a Wednesday

It’s sketch time with My Favorite Things!

I didn’t have a chance to use the new WTG set from the latest release, so today, I did.  This is WTG Get’s Down to Business.  I also used one of the Mini Tab Foursome Die-namics along with Simply Scallops Small Border and new Layered Rose.

No paper-piecing this time.  All coloring (on X-Press It Blending Card).  🙂

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from the set, breaking it into two lines.

Hello, Friend

Hi everyone!  I’m back today with another Freckles card to share!  🙂

The last card I created with this set was in wood tones.  This time I went for ‘bright.’

I used a black multiliner to add the ric rac to the girl’s shirt and pants, as well as to add the little flower coming out of her pocket. I then colored with Copics (on X-Press It Blending Card) and doodled the ‘stitches’ around the sentiment (die-cut using Circle STAX Die-namics).

On the inside, I used a sentiment from Pure Innocence All Occasion Sentiments.

I’ll be back for MFT’s Wednesday Stamp Club.  We have another great sketch for you!  🙂

Thanks for stopping by!

A Face Without Freckles…

Hi everyone.  I thought I’d pop in today to share a card a made last week.  (This is the one I *thought* was for a sketch challenge…but I had used the wrong sketch.)  🙂

I love freckles.  They’re just so cute.  And what a great combination to have a little Pure Innocence girl with freckles.  AND pigtails.

This adorable girl is Freckles by My Favorite Things.  She’s stamped, colored and paper-pieced onto X-Press It Blending Card.  Cardstock base is Hot Fudge.

I paired her with a Woodgrain Fence, daisies from Notched Tag Die-namics and a setting sun created using Circle STAX.  The daisies are adhered with small brown brads, and I drew in the stems/leaves with a dark brown marker.

On the inside, I stamped a silhouette of the girl and added a few more daisies.  🙂

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Stamps:  MFT “Freckles” (Pure Innocence)   Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black and Rich Cocoa   Paper:  MFT Hot Fudge cardstock, X Press It Blending Card, October Afternoon Sasparilla and Farmhouse (8×8)   Accessories: Copic markers (E00, E11, BV000, R20, Y21, E31, E35, YG93, YG95, W1, W3),  MFT Woodgrain Fence, Notched Tag and Circle STAX Die-namics, brads.  Finished size 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.

Just Dropping You a Line…JiFFy Style!

Hi everyone! At long last, it’s time for our JiFFy Challenge!!   I know it’s been quite a while since we posted, so I’ll quickly recap our process.   “JiFFy” is short for “Just For Fun.”  We’re all busy and don’t always (or often) have the time to stamp just for fun.  So every month (or so), we make a point to get together to do just that.

Here’s how it works.  One of us chooses paper and mails to all while another of us chooses an image.  The fun (and sometimes tricky) part is that the paper-chooser and the image-chooser don’t know what the other is choosing.  It’s always a surprise!  Sometimes the two choices work together and sometimes they don’t.  That’s where the “challenge” part comes into play.  🙂

This time around, Lori chose super-duper cute Ramona Fishing by Stamping Bella.  ♥♥♥   And I chose October Afternoon’s “Hide and Seek” from the Sidewalk collection.  Luckily, this was one of those times where everything goes together sooo nicely.  🙂

I used Copics to color my image, adding in some pleats using YR24 and E35.  (I’ve had a lot of questions recently on adding folds so I thought I’d try to include that info each time.)

Be sure to check out what the other JiFFy girls have created using this same image and paper!  Can’t wait to see!  🙂

Thanks for stopping by!  🙂

Stamps:  Stamping Bella “Ramona Fishing”   Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black    Paper:  Bazzill Red Rock, X Press It Blending Card, October Afternoon “Sidewalks” Hide & Seek   Accessories: Copic markers (E00, E11, BV000, R20, E33, E35, Y21, YR24, R24, R27, BG70, YG03, YG06, W00, W1), MFT Circle STAX Die-namics.  Finished size 4″ x 5 3/8″.

Hey, Girly Girl

It’s time for another great sketch with My Favorite Things!  (I couldn’t bring myself to tilt the sentiment strip though… Just couldn’t do it.)

This week I used one of our latest à la modes releases, Polished to Perfection, along with fun new paper from Pebbles, Inc.

I used a Sentiment Strip as well as a single line of Double Dot Border.  (I could have used a scallop die, but the Dot Border was still on my table and it was a perfect substitute.)

After coloring my image with Copics, I added lots of sparkle to the nail polish using Star Dust Stickles.

I finished the inside simply, using more fun paper and just a bit of stamping.
