MFT New Product Tour – You Shine

It’s finally time to share My Favorite Things‘ newest releases!  The new products are now available in the MFT Boutique right HERE!  🙂

You can find direct links to design team samples HERE on the MFT Blog.  Don’t forget to leave comments as you look!  One lucky winner will receive a $50 gift voucher to the MFT Boutique!  How fun would THAT be??  🙂

Tonight I have four cards to share using You Shine, one of our new à la modes sets.

On my first card, I used lots of fun, bright colors, coloring with Copics and using the smallest of the Decorative Circle Tags for my sentiment.  Along the bottom I used a strip of Double Scallop Border.

It’s  a bit hard to see in the photo, but I colored over all the lights and the star in her hair with a clear glaze pen.

On the inside, I used a sentiment from our second new à la modes set, Sparkling Season.

Here, I combined You Shine with Accent It Flags and Tags, using numbers from Calendar Components to create the date.  A tiny red brad separates the numbers.  Base cardstock is Jelly Bean Green.

I really like the date tag.  🙂

I finished the inside simply with just a sentiment, also from Sparkling Season.

On this one, I went for a lighter/softer feel.  I used Berrylicious cardstock, X-Press It Blending Card, Let It Snowflake and new Snow Drifts Die-namics.  To help define the edges, I lightly sponged each drift using Memento Teal Zeal.

After coloring with Copics, I colored over the lights with a clear Sakura glaze pen.  (The color in the photo is a little off as I had to take the “glittery” photos in a different spot.  I couldn’t seem to correct this one for some reason.)

On the inside, I adhered a few more snowflakes using tiny silver brads.

My last card is a bit more clean and simple.  After stamping and coloring, I stamped a second image, coloring only the lights.  I cut out a small handful of the lights, sketched in a loopy string across the top and adhered the lights, securing only the top edges so the bottoms lift slightly off the paper.

I colored over the lights, again with the clear glaze pen.

On the inside, I stamped a silhouette of the image as well as “Merry” from Sparkling Season.

Be sure to check out the MFT blog for direct links to more samples using this month’s stamp and Die-namics sets!

Joy Stocking (and Faux Embossing Tutorial)

Hi everyone!  Tonight the November release will be available at My Favorite Things but first, we’re here to share a bit more inspiration using our new Die-namics dies.

I adore our new Jumbo Christmas Stocking along with Dainty Bows Die-namics.

After die-cutting the stocking from October Afternoon’s “Holiday Style” plaid, I added a cuff cut from Wild Cherry felt.

The bow was cut from Jelly Bean cardstock, adhered with X-Press It double-sided tape and leveled on the right with a piece of foam tape.

As you can probably tell from my last few posts, I’m loving the tiniest of the Decorative Circle Tags STAX too.  I stamped my sentiment, from Stitched Stockings, using MFT’s Wild Cherry ink.  I “hung” my tag using Hemp Cord and secured it to the stocking using foam tape.

I adhered my assembled stocking over faux embossed Kraft cardstock (tutorial below) using additional foam tape.

On the inside, I stamped another sentiment from Lisa’s Stitched Stockings.

I felt my card was still a bit plain so I created a faux embossed background.  (You can click on the photos below to see in a much larger format.)

Begin with a 5″ x 6 1/2″ Kraft card base, additional kraft cardstock and our new Medium Fancy Flourish.

Die-cut four flourishes from kraft cardstock, carefully removing each flourish from the die in order to keep the swirls as flat as possible.

Lay the flourishes on the card front to get an idea of placement.

Leaving all flourishes in place, remove one and add bits of glue (or your choice of adhesive) to the back.  Leaving the remaining flourishes in place helps to position each flourish.

Continue to adhere the remaining flourishes.  I nipped off some of the extending pieces before adhering so I’d know where to end the glue.  And as you can see at the bottom, my flourishes didn’t end up exactly where I had them initially, so I used one of the nipped flourish swirls to fill the bit of empty space.

Once all the glue dries, use a paper cutter to trim all sides for smooth edges.

I’ve used this technique with die-cut (or punched) stars or circles on kraft gift bags for a super-quick “dress-up” of an otherwise plain bag.

Special Delivery — MFT Pure Innocence Preview Day

It’s Day 6 of November previews with My Favorite Things!  Only one more day until all the fun new goodies we’ve been sharing over the last week will be available for purchase!  🙂

Today we’re sharing samples of three new Pure Innocence sets — Elf Girl, Little Santa and Angel.

My card today uses Little Santa.  To go along with Santa, I created a sign using Mini Wavy Pennants and the pole from Mini Pennants Die-namics.  To extend the length of the pole, I ran the die through my machine only far enough to cut the ball at the top and part of the post.  Then using the partially cut sides as a guide, I extended the length using my paper cutter.

I used Copics to color Little Santa on X-Press It Blending Card, dotting in the trim around his cap, coat and boots for a textured look.  Base cardstock and button are new Paver Red.  (The button is stitched using Hemp Cord.)  The flags were cut from Whip Cream cardstock with the edges sponged using Ranger Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.

On the inside, I completed the sentiment from the front and stamped Little Santa in Memento Dessert Sand.

Joy! MFT Previews, à la modes

Welcome to Day 5 of My Favorite Things November previews!  Today we’re sharing samples using two new à la modes sets, Sparkling Season and You Shine.

Today I’ve used Sparking Season.

After coloring with Copics, I pieced the ornament and added Stardust Stickles for lots of sparkle.  The bow was stamped a second time and adhered only in the center so the “loops” could be bent slightly forward.

The sentiment was stamped onto a layered Decorative Circle Tag.  A red Decorative Circle Tag was placed behind the white tag to add defintion.  “Joy” was stamped in MFT’s Wild Cherry ink.

A quick and easy finish to the inside (above).  🙂

B Merry — MFT Previews, Day 4

I give gift cards so often.  It’s nice to be able to easily “jazz” them up with a little MFT.  🙂

I stamped the B Merry in Amuse French Toast ink then clear embossed.

I added a gorgeous Poinsettia, die-cut from brand new this month Paver Red and Jelly Bean Green cardstocks.

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from Seasonal Sentiments in new Jelly Bean Green ink.

May Your Holidays Sparkle – MFT Previews

Welcome to Day 3 of teasers of My Favorite Things November release.  🙂

Today we’re sharing samples using Seasonal Sentiments (last month’s Triple Scoop) and Clearly Sentimental about New Beginnings (this month’s Triple Scoop).  The Triple Scoop is available with the November 13 release for FREE with orders of $60 or more excluding tax and shipping.

Today I’ve used Seasonal Sentiments along with Holly Girl (Pure Innocence), new Dainty Bows Die-namics, Fishtail Flags STAX and new Jelly Bean Green ink.

After coloring my girl with Copics, I pieced the dress, stamped the sentiment and added a few tiny rhinestones along the flourish.

A Dainty Bow was layered atop three small Fishtail Flags in the upper right corner.

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from Clearly Sentimental about Christmas and flourishes from Finishing Flourishes using Jelly Bean Green ink.

Be Merry – MFT Previews, Day 2

Moving on to Day 2 of My Favorite Things‘ November previews!

Today we’re previewing two new sets by Laina Lamb — Journal It Calendar Basics and Document It Days & Dates.

One of these days I’ll get up the nerve to scrap something, but until then I’ll be thinking of creative ways to incorporate Laina’s sets into cards.

For my card today, I used Calendar Basics and many Die-namics:  new Winter Wreath, Story Starters and Accent It Calendar Components as well as Square STAX 1 and 2 and Fishtail Flags STAX.

Using black Staz-on ink, I stamped the grid portion of the calendar stamp onto acetate.  Square Die-namics created the layering for the window.  The acetate is adhered between the Wild Cherry panel and the Kraft card base and I used thin strips of double-sided tape to adhere the wreath and bow.

To create the layered bow, I die-cut two from Wild Cherry cardstock.  The first bow I adhered to the wreath.  I removed the loop portion of the second bow and adhered (in the center only) over the loops of the first bow.  I then used the remaining tail pieces to attach beneath the first tails.

The sentiment was created using letters from both Calendar Components and Story Starters.  (The M is actually a W but I think it works.)

Fishtail Flag ends were layered and tucked beneath the popped up sentiment.

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from Clearly Sentimental about Christmas using new Wild Cherry ink.

Party Time!

Time for another great sketch with My Favorite Things! (I pretty much stuck to it…this time.)  🙂

I used Being Cute is What I Do along with sentiments from Birthday Girl.  Base cardstock is MFT Steel Grey with faux brads punched from the grey cardstock using a 1/4″ circle punch.  (I used three layers of punched circles to add a bit of dimension.)

This cute girl is one of my all-time favorites from the Pure Innocence line.  It’s been a while since I’ve colored her.  I layered her atop a Fishtail Flag and Fishtail Flag Layers, and I used one of the Mini Tabs Foursome Die-namics for the sentiment.

I finished the inside simply, as usual, using already cut scraps of the patterned papers and stamping a simple sentiment and silhouette.

<—Here’s the sketch if you’d like to play along. You can find direct links to more samples HERE.  And remember, if you upload your card to the SCS gallery using the keyword MFTWSC97, you will have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money!  One winner is chosen at random each week.  More info can be found in the MFT Forum in SCS.

Thanks for visiting!  Have a great day!  🙂

A Very Merry Christmas to You!

It’s time to begin teasers for My Favorite Things‘ November release!  Today we’re sharing samples using Stitched Stockings and Darling Dots from Lisa Johnson Designs.

Also available with the November release are My Favorite Things Wild Cherry and Jelly Bean Green inks!  WOOHOO!  I am SO impressed with these!  Perfectly even coverage providing amazingly solid impressions as well as a perfect match to the Wild Cherry and Jelly Bean Green cardstocks.  I can’t wait for the rest of the colors!

I adore Stitched Stockings!  Such a great assortment of images, sentiments and shapes!

I stamped all images, as well as the Darling Dots background using Wild Cherry ink on MFT’s Kraft cardstock.

I used Stocking Trio Die-namics to die-cut my stamped stockings, cutting two of each and placing foam tape between the layers.  I tied hemp cord around the sponged panel and “hung” my stockings from little loops created from the hemp cord.  A Kraft button was stitched over the little stamped button on each stocking.

On the inside, I stamped “Peace,” “Love” and “Joy” along the bottom edge.

Thank You for Your Bravery…and a new face

Hi everyone!  Happy Election Day!  Happy “No More Political Phone Calls” Day!  Woohoo!!  (SO sick of that.)

I have a clean and simple card to share today.  Or I like to call it “cute and simple.” I struggle with clean and simple but I was really happy with how this one turned out.

I used Firefighter Girl and Fishtail Flags Die-namics from My Favorite Things.

I colored her simply using Copic markers, and the little red heart was die-cut using Notched Tag Die-namics.  The flags are stitched/attached at the top with the bottoms left to hang freely.

On the inside, I stamped another sentiment from the set and the little fire fighter.  🙂

Now for the new face, I’m not spilling any beans, but we’re all super-excited! You can see the big news HERE.  (So happy!)  🙂

Thanks SO much for visiting!  I’ll be back tomorrow with Day 1 of My Favorite Things’ November previews!  Always an exciting time!  Have a great day!
