February Creative Challenge – Clean & Simple

Hi everyone!  It’s time for the My Favorite Things Design Team Creative Challenge, a monthly feature where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product or technique.

This month, we were challenged to create clean and simple projects – without the use of any patterned paper.

Like many of my fellow DT, I recently took the Clean & Simple Card Making 2 on-line class so I received lots of ideas and inspiration.

All three of my cards today use You Move Me Stamp and Die-namics set.

I die-cut various speech bubbles using Say What? and Chat Bubbles Die-namics and Wild Cherry, Gumdrop Green, Tangy Orange and SU blue cardstocks.  I stamped the sentiments using VersaMark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  (I’d forgotten I had those until I took the class.)

The blue bubble as well as the scooter were raised on foam tape.

On the inside, I stamped my sentiment in Wild Cherry ink and the scooter and tiny clouds in Memento Nautical Blue.

In creating this card, I did something I *never* thought I’d do…until taking the card class.  I cut slits in my sentiment stamps to achieve the curves.  (It was scary.)  😉

I first positioned the red track on  my new Fiskars stamp press (part of my shopping spree resulting from said class), then positioned the words beneath.

The “honk” tab was die-cut using the rounded Mix & Match Banner.  I cut two, one from red, one from white.  I cut away just a bit from the left and right sides of the white tab so the red would create a nice mat.

To add a bit of interest, I raised the die-cut cars on small pieces of foam tape.

I finished the inside simply, stamping another track of “road” along with a Sour Apple car.

Here I decided to stamp the sentiment in three different colors, Wild Cherry, Sour Apple and Memento Nautical Blue.

The car strip was die-cut using Fishtail Flags,Fishtail Flags Layers, Circle STAX 1 and 2.  And the little car is raised on foam tape.

The inside sentiment was stamped from Big Greetings using Sour Apple and Wild Cherry ink with the little spiral stamped in Black Licorice.

Be sure to check out the MFT blog for more clean and simple inspiration!

Thanks for so much for visiting today!  🙂
