You’re Such a Doll

Hi everyone!  Just popping in to let you know that My Favorite Things‘ May previews begin tomorrow!  SO many fun new sets and Die-namics to share!   Posts begin at midnight EST so I hope you’ll check it out!

In the meantime, I have a quick and easy card to share.  (“Quick” as long as you like to color.  And as you know, I *love* to color.)

Today I’ve used Pure Innocence Paper Dolls, stamping onto X-Press It Blending Card with Memento Tuxedo Black and coloring with Copics.  I adore this image with the little paper dolls.  :)

On the inside, I used a Paper Doll Girl Border die-cut from Kraft cardstock along with a sentiment from Pure Innocence All Occasion Sentiments.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Looking forward to tonight! :)

Stamps:  MFT Pure Innocence Paper Dolls and All Occasion Sentiments  Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, MFT Black Licorice  Paper: MFT Kraft and Sweet Tooth; X-Press It Blending Card  Accessories: Copic markers (E00, E11, BV000, R02, E50, E51, E31, YR02, YR04, YR07, E40, E41, E43), MFT Paper Doll Girl Border Die-namics, ribbon.  Finished size 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.

Happy Birthday

Hi everyone.  It’s time for another sketch with My Favorite Things!  I couldn’t resist using new Cupcake Cutie once again.  I ♥ her.  I pretty much followed the sketch.  However, I substituted the balloons for the banner piece, placing the replacement behind the image instead of on top.  I also cut out my image on the left as opposed to leaving it on the panel.  That’s ok though, right? Sketches are “inspiration.”  Not law.  :)

All stamping (for coloring) was done on X-Press It Blending Card then colored with Copics. The girl is popped up on foam tape as is the right-most balloon.

I colored two balloons with markers then used a black Copic Multi-liner and piercing template to create the dotted pattern on the third.

Once everything was colored and assembled, I dotted over the cupcake toppings with a clear 3-d glaze pen.

Along the bottom, I adhered a Cotton Candy strip of Simply Scallops Small Die-namics.

On the inside, I stamped the girl and balloon then drew in the string.

<—Here’s the sketch (which I flipped) if you’d like to play along. You can find direct links to more samples HERE.  And remember, if you upload your card to the SCS gallery using the keyword MFTWSC121, you will have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money!  One winner is chosen at random each week.  More info can be found in the MFT Forum in SCS.

April Creative Challenge – Scene Building

Hi everyone!  It’s time for this month’s Creative Challenge with My Favorite Things!   The MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique.  This month we are building scenes using MFT stamps and Die-namics.  Fun!  :)

For my first scene, I used Pure Innocence Serenity along with Sunshine, Umbrella, Snow Drifts and Wonky Border Die-namics.

I used Kraft cardstock for my base, then also as the base for the umbrella and sand (Snow Drifts).  I sponged Kraft ink onto the Snow Drifts to create more of a sandy look and cut an extra umbrella base to create depth, using foam tape between the layers.

The girl was stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card with Memento Tuxedo Black ink then colored with Copics.

Spring Backgrounds and Darling Dots were stamped with Lemon Drop and Electric Red ink onto new Smooth White cardstock.

To create my cloud background, I  used Wonky Border along with Sno Cone ink, following Jodi’s great mini tutorial found HERE.  LOVE how the sky turned out.  :)

The small flower on the girl’s shirt was die-cut from a scrap of Electric Red cardstock using one of the small flowers from Trellis &Vine Die-namics with a tiny white brad in the center.

Tip:  To incorporate elements extending past the card edges, adjust the size of the card base so that card will still fit easily into your envelope.  For example, I adjusted my card base here to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ to allow the sun to hang 1/4″ over the top edge. ( Overall card dimensions are 4 1/4″ x  5 1/2.)

On the inside, I lightly sponged additional clouds and stamped the sentiment and silhouette in Black Licorice ink.

My second card uses Pure Innocence Freckles, a sentiment from Little Gardener, Trellis and Vine, Picket Fence, Fresh Cut Grass, Sunshine and Wonky Border (sky) Die-namics.

As above, the girl was stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics.   Card base, grass, vines and leaves were cut from Gumdrop Green cardstock, flowers from Electric Red and the fence and trellis from Kraft.  Tiny yellow brads fit perfectly as centers to the small flowers.  The sun was cut from Lemon Drop with foam tape popping up the center.

On the inside, I added a few more flowers and leaves with a silhouette and sentiment from Pure Innocence All Occasion Sentiments stamped in Black Licorice ink.

Be sure to check out the MFT blog for more scene-building inspiration!

Thanks for so much for visiting today!  :)

A Sketch Time Hi

It’s time for another great sketch from My Favorite Things!   This week I used another of our latest releases, one I hadn’t had a chance to use during Teasers, Pure Innocence I Wheelie Like You.

I used Paver Red as my card base with the image stamped on X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copics.  Across the top I layered Simply Scallops Die-namics, placing a small rhinestone between each scallop.

I tucked a thin strip of Paver Red cardstock beneath the paper-pieced shirt and adhered a flag die-cut using a Mini Wavy Pennant.  The “hi”, from Pure Innocence All Occasion Sentiments, was stamped in Black Licorice ink.

On the inside, I stamped a silhoutte in Kraft ink and the sentiment in Black Licorice onto a Sweet Tooth panel.

<—Here’s the sketch (which I flipped) if you’d like to play along. You can find direct links to more samples HERE.  And remember, if you upload your card to the SCS gallery using the keyword MFTWSC120, you will have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money!  One winner is chosen at random each week.  More info can be found in the MFT Forum in SCS.

April Release Rewind

Hi everyone!  Welcome to Day 2 of My Favorite Things Release Rewind!  Be sure to check out the MFT blog HERE for direct links to more samples using this month’s releases.

I can’t get enough of Lisa Johnson’s Sweet Roses.  I love the fact that there are corresponding dies (Roses and Leaves Die-namics) to die-cut the flowers and leaves, and I especially love the font and sentiments.

For today’s post I created two Mother’s Day cards (and I’m feeling really good about having created these this far in advance).  :)

My first card uses Sweet Roses, Roses and Leaves Die-namics, Blueprints 2 and the smallest of Open Simply Scallops Trio.

I stamped three flowers/sets of leaves onto X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copics to match the Grape Jelly cardstock.  I then stamped two more sets onto Blending Card and die-cut using Roses and Leaves Die-namics.  The die-cut sets are raised on foam boosters.  Next I created a “flower box” using elements from Blueprints 2.

Here’s a close-up of the dimension.

The tag was cut using the smallest of Traditional Tags STAX and the XOXO is from Notched Tag Sentiments.

On the inside, I stamped and colored another flower and added my Mother’s Day greeting.

For my second card, I used Cotton Candy, Sour Apple and Smooth White cardstock along with Lisa’s Sweet Roses and Roses and Leaves Die-namics with a greater focus on the elements in Blueprints 2.  Sketch is loosely based on one of the sample sketches found on the Blueprints 2 pdf found here. (Click on small thumbnail beneath Blueprints die photo.)

All flower and leaves were die-cut and popped up on foam tape.  I added pieces of foam tape beneath the pink oval frame as well.  In the center of each flower I added a black enamel accent.

After adhering the two frame pieces, I tied the tag, securing beneath with foam tape.

On the inside, I stamped and colored more flowers (adding stems with a 0.3 black Copic Multi-liner) and stamped a sentiment from Clearly Sentimental about Mothers.

Don’t forget to check out the MFT blog for links to more samples using our latest release!  :)

Thanks for stopping by today!

make a WISH

Hi everyone!  I thought I’d pop in to share the card I made for my nephew’s birthday this weekend.   I always have a tough time with teen cards but I think this one fits the bill.

I began with a base of MFT’s Wild Cherry cardstock along with a panel of Smooth White cardstock. The stripes were created using Laina’s Mod Borders along with Wild Cherry, Lemon  Drop and new Orange Fizz inks.  “Make a” was taken from the “Make a Wish” sentiment within the Birthday Sentiments set.  I was encouraged by a recent card class to cut apart my clear stamps so that’s what I did.  It made stamping the partial sentiment so much easier.  And it turned out not to be very scary at all.  :)

I used High Rise Alphabet Upper Die-namics to cut the WISH and Stacking Stars to create the various star shapes.  The smaller orange star was cut from Orange Fizz cardstock; the rest are Wild Cherry.

A couple of the stars, as well as the letters, are popped up on foam tape. I finished off the design by scattering some tiny Amuse Star Stickers.

On the inside, I added stripes, more stars and the Wish Big sentiment from Big Greetings.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a great weekend, and I’ll be back soon.  :)

Stamps:  MFT Border It-Mod Borders (Laina Lamb Design), Birthday Sentiments, Big Greetings   Ink: MFT Wild Cherry, Orange Fizz, Lemon Drop   Paper: MFT Wild Cherry, Orange Fizz, Smooth White   Accessories: MFT High Rise Alphabet Uppercase and Stacking Stars Die-namics, Amuse Star Stickers, X-Press It Foam Tape.  Finished size 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″.

Hi

Hi everyone!  It’s time for another great sketch with My Favorite Things.  This week I used super-adorable Cupcake Cutie, the first of our Wendy Burns Design collection.

After stamping the image with Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-Press It Blending Card I colored with Copics, die-cut with Oval STAX 1 and sponged the edges using Kraft ink.  The Finishing Flourishes were stamped using Kraft as well.

The flowers were die-cut from Paver Red cardstock using Layered Rose Die-namics.  I distressed and rolled the edges and placed an enamel dot in each center.

The scalloped panel was cut using Blueprints 1 and ribbon is Paver Red.

On the inside, I used Black Licorice ink to stamp a sentiment from Doodle Garden Sweet Friend and Kraft to sponge the edges and stamp the flourishes.

<—Here’s the sketch if you’d like to play along. You can find direct links to more samples HERE.  And remember, if you upload your card to the SCS gallery using the keyword MFTWSC119, you will have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money!  One winner is chosen at random each week.  More info can be found in the MFT Forum in SCS.

Sweet as Can Bee

Hi everyone.  :)   Welcome to Day 2 of  the My Favorite Things April New Product Tour!  All of the new products will be available tonight, April 9, at 10 PM EST right HERE.  For my cards today, I used new Doodle Garden Sweet as Can Bee.

On my first card, I created a faux embossed background using Orange Fizz cardstock and the smallest of the three Open Hexagon Borders.

After stamping my cute bee with Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-Press It Blending Card, I colored with Copics (pointillism tutorial here, coloring hair tutorial here) then cut her out and adhered over the assembled background.  I did not apply adhesive to her ponytails or wings so they are free to bend away from the paper just a bit.

I die-cut the smaller of the two Say What? speech bubbles from Sweet Tooth cardstock and stamped the sentiment using Black Licorice ink.

Along the bottom I placed a Gumdrop Green strip of Fresh Cut Grass tied with hemp cord and scattered several small Lemon Drop flowers cut using the tiny flower from Notched Tag Die-namics.

On the inside, I used Black Licorice ink to stamp a sentiment from Doodle Garden Sweet Friend and new Orange Fizz ink to stamp one of the new Mod Borders.

On my second card, I again stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copics.  I used the smallest of the three Open Simply Scallops Trio along the left edge and stitch-embossed tabs from Blueprints 2 for the sentiment (white embossed).

The Hot Fudge button was stitched over the tabs using hemp cord.

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment in Black Licorice and the silhouette in new Hot Fudge ink.

Be sure to check out the MFT Blog for more samples using the new products, all of which will be available tonight, April 9, at 10 p.m. EST.  Also, be sure to comment on the MFT Blog Teaser Time posts for your chance to win BIG prizes.

Mod Thanks – A Preview

Hi everyone.  Just popping in with another peek at two more fun sets being released by My Favorite Things on Tuesday, April 9th.  :)

My cards today feature Laina’s new Mod Borders along with Lisa’s Sweet Roses, one masculine (and rather southwestern-ish), one feminine.

On my first card, I used a Hot Fudge cardstock base, a sentiment from Sweet Roses with the zig-zag strip from Mod Borders.

I stamped onto Smooth White cardstock using Black Licorice ink then colored in the stripes with Copic markers.  (Is anyone else seeing these stripes in 3d?  Those lower points just pop right out toward me.)

On the inside, I simply added another strip of stripes.  I’ll be sending this card to my in-laws (in Arizona)  to thank them for housing us (with a sick child) for nine days.

Next I used a card base of Electric Red with an accent of Black Licorice, a second of Laina’s Mod Borders along with some flowers from Lisa’s Sweet Roses.

The flowers and leaves were stamped onto Smooth White cardstock using Electric Red and Gumdrop Green inks.  After stamping the outlines using Black Licorice, I die-cut the elements using Lisa’s coordinating Roses & Leaves Die-namics.

The smaller flower is popped up on foam tape.

On the inside, I stamped a second border strip, stamped the flower, masked and stamped the leaves.

Be sure to check out the MFT Blog for release details, (BIG) prize information and additional inspiration.

Thanks for stopping by today!  :)

MFT April Previews, Day 1

Hi everyone!  Welcome to Day 1 of April previews with My Favorite Things! This month’s release will take place next Tuesday, April 9, at 10 p.m. EST.  Be sure to check out the MFT Blog for release details, (BIG) prize information and additional inspiration.

My previews today use two new Pure Innocence sets, Little Gardener and Serenity.

First, I used Little Gardener along with Upsy Daisy and Royal Leaves Die-namics, Hot Fudge, Lemon Drop and Gumdrop Green cardstock with Hot Fudge buttons.

I found a tiny clay pot (about 2 1/4″ tall) at Michaels and thought it would be fun to fill with flowers.  I cut bamboo sticks to the desired length then used a small file to “saw” a small indentation about 1/4″ from the top of each stick.  After die-cutting and layering the flowers, I “stitched” the buttons into the centers, wrapping and tying the hemp cord around each stick.  The small indentation on the stick holds the hemp cord/flower in place.  I “stuffed” a small styrofoam ball into the pot and inserted the flowers.  “Best” and “Buds” were stamped onto Mini Wavy Pennants using Black Licorice ink, glued to a toothpick and inserted into the pot.

For the card, I stamped the Little Gardener onto X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copic markers.

The dotted panel was created using Kraft cardstock, new Hot Fudge ink and Lisa’s Darling Dots.

On the inside I used a sentiment from Pure Innocence All Occasion Sentiments and added another flower.  To keep the inside relatively flat, instead of adhering a regular button, I used a button from Button Border Die-namics.

On my next card, I thought I’d try Inge’s tutorial for coloring on Kraft cardstock.  (Tutorial found HERE.)  I stamped my image onto Kraft cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black and colored my image with Prismacolor pencils.

Across the top, I added stitch-embossed elements from new Blueprints 2 as well as a Kraft button with Hemp Cord.  The sentiment was stamped using Black Licorice ink.

On the inside I stamped a sentiment from Pure Innocence Gymnast and a silhouette of the Little Gardener using Black Licorice ink.  A second stitch-embossed strip was added to the top to add a bit of interest.

Next I created a card using Pure Innocence Serenity along with a box of chocolates die-cut using new Scalloped Treat Box Die-namics.

I used some random (old) blue cardstock along with MFT Kraft and Sweet Tooth.  The oval and stitch embossed strip were die-cut using elements from new Blueprints 2.  Along the bottom of the horizontal stitched strip, I placed a die-cut strip from one of our new Open Simply Scallops Trio.  I used the smallest of the three.

On the inside, I thought it would be fun to add a sentiment from Chocolate Sentiments, this month’s Triple Scoop, free to you with a qualifying purchase of $60 or more (before tax and shipping).  I manipulated one of the sentiments, rearranging the words, and wrote the “&” by hand.

Lastly, I  have a second card using Pure Innocence Serenity.  I stamped the image onto X-Press It Blending Card, colored with Copics and then masked the girl before stamping a new Mod Border using Kraft ink.  Card base is Kraft with Grapesicle.  The sentiment was stamped onto a Sentiment Strip and raised on foam tape.  Along the bottom I used Open Zig Zag Border, adding small purple rhinestones for a bit of sparkle.

On the inside I stamped a second sentiment (using Black Licorice ink) and silhouette of the image (using Kraft ink).
