MFT April Previews, Day 1

Hi everyone!  Welcome to Day 1 of April previews with My Favorite Things! This month’s release will take place next Tuesday, April 9, at 10 p.m. EST.  Be sure to check out the MFT Blog for release details, (BIG) prize information and additional inspiration.

My previews today use two new Pure Innocence sets, Little Gardener and Serenity.

First, I used Little Gardener along with Upsy Daisy and Royal Leaves Die-namics, Hot Fudge, Lemon Drop and Gumdrop Green cardstock with Hot Fudge buttons.

I found a tiny clay pot (about 2 1/4″ tall) at Michaels and thought it would be fun to fill with flowers.  I cut bamboo sticks to the desired length then used a small file to “saw” a small indentation about 1/4″ from the top of each stick.  After die-cutting and layering the flowers, I “stitched” the buttons into the centers, wrapping and tying the hemp cord around each stick.  The small indentation on the stick holds the hemp cord/flower in place.  I “stuffed” a small styrofoam ball into the pot and inserted the flowers.  “Best” and “Buds” were stamped onto Mini Wavy Pennants using Black Licorice ink, glued to a toothpick and inserted into the pot.

For the card, I stamped the Little Gardener onto X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copic markers.

The dotted panel was created using Kraft cardstock, new Hot Fudge ink and Lisa’s Darling Dots.

On the inside I used a sentiment from Pure Innocence All Occasion Sentiments and added another flower.  To keep the inside relatively flat, instead of adhering a regular button, I used a button from Button Border Die-namics.

On my next card, I thought I’d try Inge’s tutorial for coloring on Kraft cardstock.  (Tutorial found HERE.)  I stamped my image onto Kraft cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black and colored my image with Prismacolor pencils.

Across the top, I added stitch-embossed elements from new Blueprints 2 as well as a Kraft button with Hemp Cord.  The sentiment was stamped using Black Licorice ink.

On the inside I stamped a sentiment from Pure Innocence Gymnast and a silhouette of the Little Gardener using Black Licorice ink.  A second stitch-embossed strip was added to the top to add a bit of interest.

Next I created a card using Pure Innocence Serenity along with a box of chocolates die-cut using new Scalloped Treat Box Die-namics.

I used some random (old) blue cardstock along with MFT Kraft and Sweet Tooth.  The oval and stitch embossed strip were die-cut using elements from new Blueprints 2.  Along the bottom of the horizontal stitched strip, I placed a die-cut strip from one of our new Open Simply Scallops Trio.  I used the smallest of the three.

On the inside, I thought it would be fun to add a sentiment from Chocolate Sentiments, this month’s Triple Scoop, free to you with a qualifying purchase of $60 or more (before tax and shipping).  I manipulated one of the sentiments, rearranging the words, and wrote the “&” by hand.

Lastly, I  have a second card using Pure Innocence Serenity.  I stamped the image onto X-Press It Blending Card, colored with Copics and then masked the girl before stamping a new Mod Border using Kraft ink.  Card base is Kraft with Grapesicle.  The sentiment was stamped onto a Sentiment Strip and raised on foam tape.  Along the bottom I used Open Zig Zag Border, adding small purple rhinestones for a bit of sparkle.

On the inside I stamped a second sentiment (using Black Licorice ink) and silhouette of the image (using Kraft ink).
