April Creative Challenge – Scene Building

Hi everyone!  It’s time for this month’s Creative Challenge with My Favorite Things!   The MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique.  This month we are building scenes using MFT stamps and Die-namics.  Fun!  🙂

For my first scene, I used Pure Innocence Serenity along with Sunshine, Umbrella, Snow Drifts and Wonky Border Die-namics.

I used Kraft cardstock for my base, then also as the base for the umbrella and sand (Snow Drifts).  I sponged Kraft ink onto the Snow Drifts to create more of a sandy look and cut an extra umbrella base to create depth, using foam tape between the layers.

The girl was stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card with Memento Tuxedo Black ink then colored with Copics.

Spring Backgrounds and Darling Dots were stamped with Lemon Drop and Electric Red ink onto new Smooth White cardstock.

To create my cloud background, I  used Wonky Border along with Sno Cone ink, following Jodi’s great mini tutorial found HERE.  LOVE how the sky turned out.  🙂

The small flower on the girl’s shirt was die-cut from a scrap of Electric Red cardstock using one of the small flowers from Trellis &Vine Die-namics with a tiny white brad in the center.

Tip:  To incorporate elements extending past the card edges, adjust the size of the card base so that card will still fit easily into your envelope.  For example, I adjusted my card base here to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ to allow the sun to hang 1/4″ over the top edge. ( Overall card dimensions are 4 1/4″ x  5 1/2.)

On the inside, I lightly sponged additional clouds and stamped the sentiment and silhouette in Black Licorice ink.

My second card uses Pure Innocence Freckles, a sentiment from Little Gardener, Trellis and Vine, Picket Fence, Fresh Cut Grass, Sunshine and Wonky Border (sky) Die-namics.

As above, the girl was stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics.   Card base, grass, vines and leaves were cut from Gumdrop Green cardstock, flowers from Electric Red and the fence and trellis from Kraft.  Tiny yellow brads fit perfectly as centers to the small flowers.  The sun was cut from Lemon Drop with foam tape popping up the center.

On the inside, I added a few more flowers and leaves with a silhouette and sentiment from Pure Innocence All Occasion Sentiments stamped in Black Licorice ink.

Be sure to check out the MFT blog for more scene-building inspiration!

Thanks for so much for visiting today!  🙂
