Loads of Love

Hi everyone!  It’s time for another fun sketch with My Favorite Things.  This week I did just a wee bit of tweaking but kept the sketch mostly intact.

Today I’ve used Pure Innocence Loads of Love.  🙂  She was stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copics.  Along the bottom I added a strip of Layered Heart Border, adhering the strip over the panel instead of under.

I strung hemp cord across the top, hanging the sentiment from tiny clothes pins. The small heart was taken from Just the Ticket stamp set.

On the inside, I stamped one of my favorite sentiments from Pure Innocence All Occasion Sentiments using Black Licorice ink.

<—Here’s the sketch if you’d like to play along. You can find direct links to more samples HERE.  And remember, if you upload your card to the SCS gallery using the keyword MFTWSC126, you will have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money!  One winner is chosen at random each week.  More info can be found in the MFT Forum in SCS.

Bon Voyage

We recently began planning our summer vacation and in doing so, I thought of one of my favorite à la modes images, You Anchor Me, from My Favorite Things.

I began with a base of Red Hot card stock, die-cutting the horizontal strip and large button from Kraft card stock using Blueprints 1.

After stamping the image onto X-Press It Blending Card, I colored with Copics, adding in a floor line using a Copic 0.25 black Multi-liner.  The sentiment was stamped in Black Licorice ink.

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from Inspired by Travel and added a silhouette of the image stamped in Kraft ink.

I’ll be back soon!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  (So busy….)

Hi, Friend

Hi, everyone. I just wanted to pop in with a “somewhat” quick card.  🙂

I’ve been doing a bit of experimenting with Copic marker combinations for different skintones (“different” as in “something other than the E00 and E11 that I’ve been using time and time again”).  I think I like this one.  🙂

Here, I’ve used Doodle Garden Sweet Friend from My Favorite Things.  She was stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  The sentiment tag was die-cut using Blueprints 1 and stamped in Black Licorice ink.

For her skin, I used E31, E33 and E35 with E08 for the cheeks.  I think I’ll be using this combo again.  I like it.  🙂

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from Pure Innocence All Occasion Sentiments using Black Licorice ink.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a GREAT weekend! 🙂  My kids are so very excited to have the pool open.  Me…eh.  It’s a love/hate thing.   If you’re a “swim team” mom, you understand.  😉

Stamps:  MFT Doodle Garden Sweet Friend and Pure Innocence All Occasion Sentiments  Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black and MFT Black Licorice  Paper: MFT Sweet Tooth, X-Press It Blending Card, Echo Park Sweet Girl (6×6)   Accessories: Copic markers (E31, E33, E35, E08, 100, E79, E57, Y21, YR23, BG72, BG75, E41, E43, Colorless Blender), MFT Open Scallop Edge and Blueprints 1 Die-namics, Lemon Drop button, twine, X-Press It Foam Tape, Corner Chomper.  Finished size 4 3/4″ x 4 3/4″.

Better Get Better

It’s time for another great sketch from My Favorite Things!   This week I used one of my favorite older Pure Innocence sets, Better Get Better.

Pairing her with new-to-me Basic Grey Mint Julep, I stitched a Banana Split button (using hemp cord) over a couple of die-cut Fishtail Flags.  The sentiment was stamped in Black Licorice ink.

My image was stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card, colored with Copics and cut out.  (I used my pointillism tutorial to color the bear.)

On the inside, I stamped another sentiment from the set, added a Fishtail Flag and a Banana Split button die-cut using Button Border Die-namics.

Be sure to check out the MFT blog for this week’s sketch, prize details and direct links to participating DT.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!  🙂

April Showers Bring May Flowers (and this month’s Creative Challenge)

Hi everyone!  It’s time for this month’s Creative Challenge with My Favorite Things!   The MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique.  This month we are designing with MFT’s flower Die-namics.  I created two cards using Layered Rose.

On my first, I used the stitched strip element from Blueprints 1 along with Sweet Tooth, Grape Jelly, Blu Raspberry, Lemon Drop and Wild Cherry card stock.

The sentiment, from Pretty Poppies, was stamped in Black Licorice ink.  In the center of each flower, I placed an Enamel Dot from My Mind’s Eye.

On the inside, I stamped part of a sentiment from Gift Card Greetings II and added a Gumdrop Green Layered Rose and stitched strip.

On my second card, I used the negative space from the die-cut Layered Rose to create my design with the Wild Cherry card stock showing through.  I popped up the Sweet Tooth panel on foam tape and placed a Black Licorice button (stitched with Hemp Cord) in each flower center.  The sentiment, from Pretty Poppies, was stamped in Black Licorice ink.

Here’s  a peek at the dimension.  To keep the panel balanced, I placed foam tape around the four edges as well as around each of the four flowers.

I die-cut one more flower from the Sweet Tooth panel on the inside and punched a Black Licorice 1/4″ circle for the flower center.  The sentiment “thinking of you” is also from Pretty Poppies.  (I really love the sentiments/fonts in this set.)

Be sure to check out the MFT blog for more “May Flowers” inspiration!

Thanks for visiting today!  🙂

May Release Rewind – Farmer Girl

Hi everyone!  Welcome to Day 1 of My Favorite Things Release Rewind!  I didn’t get a chance to play with Pure Innocence Farmer Girl during teaser time so that’s where my focus is today.

In my first card I used one of my favorite cardstock colors, Kraft, along with Farmer Girl and new Chicken Wire Die-namics.

My images were stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card, colored with Copics and cut out.  I die-cut and layered two layers of Chicken Wire to add just a bit more dimension.

Inside, I added a smaller panel of Chicken Wire, stamping the little chick just above using Black Licorice ink.

On my second card, I combined Farmer Girl with new Farm Fence Die-namics as well as Sunshine and Corn Stalk.

I sponged Ranger’s Walnut Stain Distress ink over the Kraft fence, die-cut the Corn Stalks from Gumdrop Green cardstock and the Sunshine from Lemon Drop.  The sky was created with Wonky Scallop Border and Sno Cone ink.  (You can find Jodi’s sky tutorial HERE.)  The sentiment was stamped onto a Sentiment Strip.

I kept the inside simple, stamping Farmer Girl and the sentiment in Black Licorice ink.

Teacher Appreciation Week

I can’t believe it’s that time already.  Time to thank our teachers for their hard work and dedication to our children.  This is my daughter’s last year in elementary school and it is bittersweet.  I’m so proud of the young lady she is becoming, but I’m also saddened that time has gone by so quickly.  We’ve been fortunate all of her elementary years, loving every one of her teachers.  I think she is (“we are”) going to have a hard time saying goodbye.  Note to self:  Have tissues on hand.

I created a frame/card set last year.  I guess my daughter really liked it as she asked me to make a similar one for this year’s teacher.  How could I refuse.

I stained a $1 Michaels frame with Walnut Stain Distress Ink, using this month’s MFT Triple Scoop set, Chalkboard Greetings and Pure Innocence You Make the Grade.  The “chalkboard” was created using new Vertical Frame Die-namics and Steel Blue Cardstock.  I used Hot Fudge ink and Western Backgrounds to stamp the woodgrain on the chalkboard frame (die-cut from Kraft cardstock).

Across the top, I strung a banner using Mini Pennants Die-namics and Typewriter Alphabet.

For the card, I used a base of Steel Blue cardstock. Across the top, I added a strip of Dotted Scallop Border Trio with a Steel Blue button and bow from Blueprints 3.

My image was stamped onto a panel of X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copic markers.  The greeting is white embossed.

On the inside, I gave my daughter’s teacher a grade of A+.  🙂

I hope she likes it.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great weekend!

MFT May New Product Tour

Hi everyone.  🙂   Welcome to the My Favorite Things May New Product Tour! Tonight I am sharing four samples using Lisa Johnson’s new sets.  First, I’ve used beautiful Peaceful Wild Flowers.   (I absolutely love this set.)

With this card I used Black Licorice and Smooth White cardstocks with the flowers stamped in Black Licorice ink.  The sentiment was stamped in Versamark and white embossed.  I layered Dizzy Border Die-namics over the ribbon, placing pieces of foam tape beneath the wider border openings to lift the ribbon and create a woven appearance.

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment and additional flowers.

Here I used new Steel Blue cardstock, ink and buttons along with Oval STAX 1 and 2 Die-namics, new Dotted Scallop Border and the script stamp from Pretty Poppies.

Inside, I added another strip of script and an additional dotted border.

My next two cards use Lisa’s new Cheerful Blessings.   For my first of the two cards, I used a couple elements from Blueprints 3 along with Layered Heart Border Die-namics.

I used a partial sentiment on the inside along with another strip of hearts.

Lastly, I used Berrylicious cardstock and more elements from Blueprints 3.  The dots (from Lisa’s Darling Dots) were stamped using Sno Cone ink, and I stitched a Sno Cone button to the center of the bow using white string.

Inside, I added a sentiment from Pretty Poppies and a couple more Blueprints 3 elements.

MFT May Previews, Day 6

Hi everyone!  I’m back with another sample from My Favorite Things May 7 release, this time focusing on new Doodle Garden Turtle Girl and Blueprints 3.

This cute girl is so sweet.  Being a turtle, she’s a little slow and sometimes doesn’t get the card sent in time, but she has good intentions.  😉

She was stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics.

I used quite a few elements from Blueprints 3 and loosely followed one of the sample layouts provided in the accompanying PDF.

On the inside, I initially wanted to include another die-cut pink chevron strip but realized I had used the last piece of that pattern on the front of my card.  So instead I used Spring Backgrounds and Pink Lemonade ink to stamp the pattern.  I’m actually happy I did this as I like the image stamped partially over the stripes.

The turtle was stamped using Black Licorice ink, as was the sentiment on the front.  Base cardstock is Sweet Tooth.

MFT May Previews, Day 5

Hi everyone!  Moving on to Day 5 of My Favorite Things May previews!  I simply adore the sets I’ve used today.  *adore*  I combined Lisa Johnson’s new Cheerful Blessings (lovely sentiment set) along with her Peaceful Wild Flowers and Laina’s Mod Borders.

I seem to be in a monochromatic mood lately.  Here I used Pink Lemonade ink, cardstock and buttons  with the flowers and border stamped onto a Smooth White panel.

The flowers were each stamped two to three times without reinking, and I used Black Licorice to stamp the sweet, sweet sentiment.

On the inside, I stamped more pretty pink flowers.

Be sure to check out the MFT Blog for details regarding the May 7 release as well as direct links to more samples.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I’ll be back tomorrow.  🙂
