Let’s Do Lunch

Hi everyone!   My Favorite Things July previews begin on Wednesday!  Always exciting!  In the meantime, I have a card to share using one of last month’s releases, Pure Innocence On a Picnic.

The actual image consists of the girl on a blanket with a bear.  Instead, I stamped and then masked the basket.  I then inked the entire image, except for the bear, and stamped over the basket.  (Image was stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.)

The banner flags were created using Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics with a Sour Apple button stitched to the side of the sentiment.

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from Pure Innocence All Occasion Sentiments along with a silhouette of the image, again, minus the bear.  A Copic 0.25 black multi-liner was used to fill in the blanket line left blank by omitting the bear.

I’ll be back late tomorrow afternoon to announce the winner of my copy of the Copic Coloring Guide, Level 4 book.  If you have not yet commented to win, you can do so HERE until 9 a.m. EST. tomorrow, 7/1.  Good luck!  🙂

Create Your Own Sunshine

Hi everyone!  It’s time to stamp for fun!  Yay!  🙂

Today my dear friend, Lori, and I are both posting cards using Stamping Bella‘s new(ish) Uptown Girl Sunny is Stylish.  (I ♥ ♥ ♥ the Uptown Girls.  All of them.)

My image was stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics.

To “create my own sunshine,” I used the tiny sun from MFT’s Notched Tag Die-namics, layering yellow over black.  The sun is raised on a Kool Tak Clear Foam Square while the image panel is raised on slightly thicker X-Press It Foam Tape.  Along the bottom, I added a thin Mini Scallop Edge.

I matted each piece onto MFT’s Black Licorice card stock, leaving a very thin border to avoid overwhelming the image.  It’s just enough to set the layers apart.

Be sure to pop on over to see how Lori used this same image.  Can’t wait to see for myself!  🙂

Don’t forget about my Copic give-away HERE.  Just a few days left to comment.

Thanks for stopping by!

MFT June Creative Challenge – Make it Masculine

Hi everyone!  It’s time for this month’s Creative Challenge with My Favorite Things!   The MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique.  This month we are Making it Masculine, creating for men/boys.

I created this card for my father-in-law.  He truly is a man who has everything so with that in mind, we purchased a gift card we knew he could use.  I used the gift card to my advantage, incorporating it into my card design.

From Gift Card Greetings, I stamped “FOR THE” using Black Licorice ink. Below the DAD, I used Stazon Jet Black ink to stamp “who has everything” directly onto the gift card.

I die-cut two Photo Corners from Steel Gray card stock, using each, along with screw brads, to hold the gift card in place while allowing easy removal.

On the inside, I stamped a simple Happy Father’s Day sentiment from Clearly Sentimental about Fathers.

My second masculine card was a bit more difficult.  My husband needed a sympathy card for a friend at work.

I used Rectangle Die-namics to die-cut a mask, then used a light yellow Copic (Y23) with my airbrush to create the background on Smooth White card stock.  The flowers, from Peaceful Wild Flowers, were stamped using Hot Fudge ink, as was the sentiment.  The floral panel was matted onto Hot Fudge card stock, I layered ribbon (using X-Press It Double-sided tape to adhere) and stitched a Hot Fudge button using Hemp Cord.

On the inside, I added a sentiment from Clearly Sentimental about Sympathy along with a few more sprigs of flowers.

Be sure to check out the MFT blog for more masculine inspiration!

Thanks for visiting today!  🙂

MFT June New Product Tour – Gone Fishin’ (4 ways)

Hi everyone.  🙂   Welcome to the My Favorite Things June New Product Tour! Tonight I am sharing four samples using new Pure Innocence Gone Fishin’.

First, I used the cute PI girl with Nightshift Blue card stock.  She was stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I used Circle STAX 1 and 2 to die-cut/mat the image, added a scalloped strip from Blueprints 4 and a little heart on the hook, cut from Orange Fizz cardstock using Notched Tag Die-namics.  The heart is raised on a piece of foam tape.  The sentiment is white embossed with the three dots added using an opaque white pen.

On the inside I completed the sentiment from the front and added a second scalloped strip.

For my second card, I combined PI Gone Fishin with new Sunray Die-namics. After stamping and coloring the girl onto X-Press It Blending Card, I cut around the girl and the dock, leaving the water portion square at the bottom.  The sunrays were die-cut from Sweet Tooth card stock and adhered to a Sweet Tooth panel.  The circle is raised on foam tape.   “Miss you” is from Airplane Greetings and base card stock is Bubblegum.

On the inside, I stamped a silhouette in new Bubblegum ink and added a second sentiment from Airplane Greetings.

Next, I used PI Gone Fishin while taking advantage of patterns from Echo Park’s “A Perfect Summer” collection.  After stamping and coloring the girl, I cut her out, cut a slit in the water patterned paper and inserted the dock leg.  The fish is raised on foam tape and the sentiment flags were cut using Fishtail Flag Layers.

Inside, I stamped the girl, extended the fishing and water lines and adhered a scrap strip of patterned paper.

Lastly, I created a child’s (Dr. Seuss-ish) birthday card.  I repeatedly stamped the fish on an angle, alternating directions with each row.  I colored with bright Copics, added a thin strip of Red Hot card stock and a Red Hot button.  The sentiment here is also from Airplane Greetings.

On the inside, I stamped a few more rows of fish and added a second thin strip of Red Hot card stock to separate the pattern from the message area.

Hey, you.

Hi everyone!  I’m back today with another preview of My Favorite Things‘ June release.  Today I used Laina Lamb’s Max Alphabet and Insert It-Speech Bubble Frame.

I die-cut two Speech Bubble Frames, one from Sweet Tooth card stock, one from Black Licorice.  Using Black Licorice ink, I stamped the sentiment.  The comma and period were created by stamping the “dot” from the exclamation point, using a Copic Multi-liner to add the little hook to the comma.  The small girl was created using Paper Doll Girl Border Die-namics and the clear rhinestones were colored black using a Copic marker.  The Razzle Berry panel is raised on foam tape for added dimension.

On the inside, I used the remaining frame from the Black Licorice die-cut Speech Bubble, stamping the sentiment from Bold Statements in Black Licorice and Razzle Berry inks.  The Bold Statements set is this month’s Triple Scoop,  free to you with a qualifying purchase of $60 or more (before tax and shipping).

Friends Forever

Hi everyone!  I’m back with another preview of My Favorite Things‘ June release.  Today I’ve used Wendy Burns You’re So Special to Me.  (I ♥ her.)

The image was stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copics. The sentiment is from Lisa Johnson’s Cheerful Blessings with the three tiny hearts taken from You’re So Special to Me.  To the right, I added a Hot Fudge felt button, die-cut using Blueprints 4, stitched onto the image panel using hemp cord.  The scalloped strip along the bottom was die-cut from Hot Fudge card stock, also using Blueprints 4.

Inside, I added a sentiment from Lisa’s Homespun Hearts and stamped three additional hearts in the lower right corner.

MFT June Previews – Aloha

Hi everyone and welcome to Day 5 of June previews with My Favorite Things.   My card today uses new Doodle Garden Aloha along with Blueprints 4 (and a bit of Blueprints 1).

After stamping the image onto X-Press It Blending Card, I colored with Copics then die-cut the panel with the rounded corner element from Blueprints 4.  The scalloped strip is from Blueprints 4 as well.  I die-cut leaves from Gumdrop Green card stock using the leaf dies from Trellis & Vine, adhering each beneath a yellow sequin.  The sentiment was stamped onto a tag from Blueprints 1.

I stamped a second sentiment and silhouette inside using Black Licorice ink and added a few more sequins and leaves.

MFT Preview Day 4 – Bless You

Hi everyone!  We’re moving right along with My Favorite Things‘ June previews. Today my sample uses Washi Patterns along new Bubblegum ink.

I stamped several strips of the various patterns using Bubblegum and Kraft inks onto Whip Cream card stock.  After cutting each into strips, I layered them a bit askew as though using tape.  A Kraft button was stitched atop using hemp cord.

The sentiment, from Lisa’s Cheerful Blessings, was stamped in Kraft ink to match the base of Kraft card stock.

On the inside, I added a few more stamped strips, leaving plenty of room for a personal message.
