It’s time for this month’s Creative Challenge with My Favorite Things! The MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique. This month we were asked to incorporate any of MFT’s “peek-a-boo” dies into our cards or projects. I have two to share.
I adore the little spider from Paper Bag Peek-a-Boos, so I decided to frame him (and his friends) using Peek-a-Boo Squared.
I used a base of Black Licorice card stock with Black Licorice ink used to stamp Darling Dots onto an Orange Fizz square. I cut the dotted square using the Peek-a-Boo Squared die, then cut another from Black Licorice cardstock. The black square was set into the opening in the dotted square with the whole panel raised on foam tape.
The spiders were cut, lines were drawn (using a 0.5 black Copic Multi-liner) and then each spider was set into the circles, adhered only in the center so legs will bend forward. The little Boo was stamped from Spider Web Sentiments and matted to create a “sign.”
Inside, I stamped another sentiment from the Spider Web Sentiments, added another little spider and used a leftover strip of dots along the bottom.
On my next card, I again used a Black Licorice base, this time pairing it with a panel of Limeade card stock. I die-cut a strip of Peek-a-Boo Dots, adhered thin strips of Orange Fizz, Limeade, Grape Jelly and Banana Split to the back and adhered across the top. BOO letters were cut using High Rise Alphabet Uppercase Die-namics. The spider was die-cut from the green so the black shows through. (Peek-a-boo.) 🙂
Tip: To perfectly align the spiders eyes, I placed tiny dots of glue on the back side of each eye before removing the die-cut spider from the green card stock. As I carefully removed the spider, I used a pin to gently press each eye onto the black base. Super easy. 🙂
I used the same technique on the inside of the card. I die-cut the spider from the Limeade panel and carefully adhered the eyes before removing the die-cut spider. The string was added using a Copic Multi-liner and the sentiment, also from Spider Web Sentiments, was stamped in Black Licorice ink.
