Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing a card using Dreams Take Flight, one of my favorites from Taylored Expressions‘ latest release. I also used Intro to Coloring with Copic Markers for my color inspiration.
There are many topics covered in this valuable resource. I used instructions for 2-color butterflies. Yes, only two colors on the wings (other than black). I LOVE the results. And SO easy!
The butterfly was stamped twice onto X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copic markers. Working in one wing section at a time, I first applied the lighter blue (B05) then feathered the darker blue (B29) a little less than half-way across each wing section. While the ink was still wet, I used small circular motions with B05 to blend the two colors.
After coloring both butterflies, I cut out the second one and adhered over the first, with liquid glue applied in the center and small pieces of X-Press It 1/2″ foam tape beneath the wings. I dotted Black Enamel Accents to create the butterfly’s trail.
The book shows examples of three additional color combos, which I found VERY easy to replicate. I can’t decide which is my favorite. Maybe the blue. Or green. Or the pink/blue violet. I don’t know! 🙂
I’ll be touching on a few different topics from Intro to Coloring with Copic Markers throughout the month. It’s a great resource for beginners as well as those with coloring experience! I can’t say I would have ever chosen these color combos for butterfly wings, but I love them!
