Trying something new – Manga Art, iii Academy

Hi everyone! Today I thought I’d try something a little different and totally new to me- Copic coloring on Manga art.

Did you know that within the iii Academy section of the Copic website there is an informational fantasy story where you can learn how to use Copic products as well as other Imagination International, Inc. branded products?

iii Academy

You can find 24 different Episodes HERE, meet the artists HERE and find free downloadable artwork HERE. You can find even more Manga inspiration HERE.

Michele Boyer - Copic

I chose to color Hinamatsuri.  The line art is available (for free) in black and light pink. I printed in black onto X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copic markers(Translates to “Girl’s Day.”)  🙂

Copic markers – B000, B02, B04, BG11, BG13, BG18, E00, E01, E11, E35, R01, R20, R56, R85, RV32, RV34, W1, W3, W5, W7,Y21, YR23; Copic Opaque White

Once colored, I used Opaque White to add a tiny bit of detail to her eye and cheeks.

Tweet! (paper smooches)

Hi everyone! Today I’m using two of Paper Smooches’ latest releases – Summer Tree die and (speech bubble from) Hello Sampler.

Michele Boyer - Paper Smooches

I used Alphadot to spell out the sentiment and Flowers Two dies to decorate the tree. The tiny bird outline was die-cut from Birds dies.

Super quick and easy!

Fresh Florals (taylored expressions)

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing a card using Fresh Florals stamp set with coordinating dies, recently released by Taylored Expressions. (So pretty!)

Michele Boyer - Taylored Expressions

I first sponged new Strawberry Milkshake ink onto Sugar Cube card stock as a background. I then stamped the flowers and leaves using TE inks, die-cut then assembled and stamped the sentiment in my new favorite black, Oreo hybrid. ♥ ♥

Thank-You-Fresh-Floral-CU

For just a bit of added dimension, I popped up a few of the pieces on Kool Tak clear foam squares.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Keeping Track of Favorite Copic Color Combos

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing a Doodle Garden digital image along with how I keep track of my favorite Copic marker combinations.

I purchased this image quite a while ago on Etsy and it appears that this particular shop is now closed. So sad, so sorry! It’s adorable!

hey-gill-friend-500

Doodle Garden digi-image/Paper Smooches Surf & Turf (sentiment)

I printed the image onto X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copic markers, referencing my senseBook for skin, hair and “mermaid” color combos.

hey-gill-friend-CU

Copic markers – BV000, BG10, BG11, BG13, BG70, C00, C1, C3, E00, E11, E31, E35, E41, R01, R02, Y21, YG05, YG17

What is a senseBook? It’s a really cool, very well constructed leather notebook, available in two styles (Red Rubber or Flap) and three different sizes (4″ x 6″, 6″ x 8″ and 8″ x 11″).  Mine is a 4″ x 6″ Flap. Compare the Red Rubber vs. Flap senseBooks HERE.

Sensebook

The insert pages (or refills) are interchangeable and available in three styles – plain pages, ruled or squared.  All begin with a Table of Contents and all have numbered pages. They can be used for sketching, journaling, writing, anything really!

TOC

I’ve separated mine into hair and skin combos as well as my favorite greens, reds, blues, etc. Any time I see or try a new color combo I want to remember, I simply jot it into the appropriate category, adding any notes if applicable.

Hair

The refills themselves have a sturdy white cover that could easily be decorated and used without the leather cover. PERFECT for paper crafters! (Great for personalizing and gifting!) They’re also VERY reasonably priced. You can check out the refills HERE.

How do you organize your favorite Copic combos? I would love to know!

Thanks so much for visiting today!

Martinis and Wobbles – Stamping Bella Previews

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing two more of Stamping Bella‘s new images to be released tomorrow, June 25 (which is also Emily’s birthday so be sure to send her some happy birthday wishes)!

First meet Edna Needs a Martini. Edna is super cute and one of my favorite Stamping Bella characters. (You can see more of Edna HERE.)

Michele Boyer - Stamping Bella

She was stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copic markers.

Copic markers – BV000, C00, C1, C2, E00, E01, E11, E31, E33, G28, G94, R000, R00, R02, R22, R24, R27, R29, Y21, W00, W1

I added just a bit of sparkle to her wings using a clear Wink of Stella glitter brush (which, of course, does not show at all in the photo).

I really like the sentiment (although I would likely be on the floor after just two martinis).  😉

Next is Sleeping Bunny Wobble.

How-Many-Sleeps-500

I colored the bunny with Copic markers then added a frame from Tiny Townie Room Decor.

Isn’t the sentiment sweet?  🙂

Michele Boyer - Paper Smooches

I first watercolored a light yellow background onto watercolor paper, then water- colored three “patches” of color onto the same card stock. Once dried, I die-cut the popsicle shapes, topped with a light coat of glitter using a clear Wink of Stella brush and, lastly, added some clear glitter to the popsicle tops. Michele Boyer - Stamping Bella

Spabella is colored with Copic markers as well. I left white/uncolored areas on the towel to create easy highlights and added tiny dots to the robe with Copic Opaque White.

Today I’ve colored a digi-image from All Dressed Up Stamps, Little Flower Girl. She was printed onto X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copic markers.

Michele Boyer - All Dressed Up Stamps

After coloring the hat (and before coloring the surrounding areas), I applied Colorless Blender Solution to a scrap of denim then touched the denim to the hat area.  The texture of the denim transfers the Blender Solution to the hat area, creating the denim pattern. It’s super cool and my favorite use for the Colorless Blender.  🙂

hi there (paper smooches)

Hi everyone! I have a super busy week so I’m sneaking my Paper Smooches post in a bit early. 🙂

Today I’ve used super cute new Potted Plant die with a sentiment from Hello Sampler (free through 6/30 with any retail purchase of $60 or more). I added a cute little hamster from Party Posse, peeking from around the pot.

Michele Boyer - Paper Smooches

The hamster was stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card, colored with Copic markers, then die-cut using its coordinating Posse Icons die. Along the bottom, I added a row of circles die-cut using Polka Dot Borders.
