Stamping Bella Holiday Preview – Skating Rudolph

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing another sample from Stamping Bella‘s upcoming, Sept. 3rd holiday release. Meet Rudolph the Skating Reindeer.  🙂

Michele Boyer - Stamping Bella

After stamping and coloring the reindeer with Copic markers, I sprinkled around some die-cut snowflakes and added a clear rhinestone to the center of each. Isn’t he cute?  I adore him.  🙂

Stamping Bella Holiday Preview – Pamela the Poinsettia

Hi everyone! I’m back today with another sample from Stamping Bella‘s September 3rd holiday release. Today I’ve used Pamela the Poinsettia. I’d say she’s my favorite, but each time I colored a new image, that latest one became my fave. Haha. (I love them all.)

May-Your-Season-be-Merry-500

Instead of the standard red, I decided to leave my poinsettia mostly white, adding light tinges of pink for a bit of color.

Stamping Bella Holiday Preview – Edna Under the Mistletoe

Hi everyone!  It’s time for another sample from Stamping Bella‘s upcoming Sept. 3rd holiday release! How cute is Edna Under the Mistletoe?  I love the sentiment. Mistletoe smooches and eggnog, yes. The extra 10 pounds though, no thanks. I seriously cannot wait for the holiday season!

Michele Boyer - Stamping Bella

I colored lovely Edna with my Copic markers using just bits of light blue to add shadow to the white areas.

Terial Magic in Paper Crafting

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing a bit about Terial Magic, now available from the Imagination International store. Terial Magic is a fabric stabilizer that turns fabric into a fray free, paper-like material. Yep, it’s pretty cool. Of course it’s awesome for anyone who sews, i.e. quilting, needlepoint, etc., but it’s also great for paper crafters. Once fabric is treated, you can stamp on it, die-cut it, even print digital images, clipart or templates using your personal printer! It’s amazing for creating fabric flowers, bows and so much more. If you are a quilter or seamstress as well as a paper crafter, you can very easily create cards, gift bags, embellishments or scrapbook elements to coordinate with  fabric used on larger gifts or projects.

Terial Magic used in Paper Crafting

As shown  in the steps below, material is saturated with Terial Magic, dried until damp and then ironed to set.

Terial Magic - three-step instructions

Terial Magic can be left in the material or washed out if the stabilizing quality is no longer needed once the project is complete. You can read more about it as well as find answers to frequently asked questions HERE.

Copic markers – BG10, C1, R81, R83, R85, Y06, Y08, YG03, YG07, YR01

On my card using Best Buds stamps and dies by Paper Smooches as well as Frame in Frame 2 Cutting Plate by Taylored Expressions, I used some leftover previously treated fabric to create the main focus. The material adds texture and an interesting quality. (I will share previously created Terial Magic projects soon.)

Stamping on Terial Magic treated fabric

Once the frame was cut, I used my MISTI and TE Oreo hybrid ink to stamp my images. It is helpful to set the ink with an iron to minimize bleeding, however, I did not heat set my images. I just used caution in coloring (with Copic markers) and had minimal bleeding. The type of fabric will also have an effect on bleeding so I recommend testing on a scrap of fabric before working on your final piece.

Applying X-Press It 2x Adhesive to the back of die-cut image

To adhere the die-cut image and panel to card stock, I used X-Press It Double-sided Adhesive Sheets. This works on some treated fabrics and not others. Again, it depends on the type of fabric. I adhered a piece of card stock to one side of the adhesive sheet, die-cut the shape, removed the release paper from the adhesive and carefully aligned my colored fabric. Pressing over firmly with a bone folder helps to adhere. To add dimension, I adhered three to four layers of die-cut card stock behind the sentiment piece and frame.

Feel free to link your project using Terial Magic here on this post. I am in the very beginning stages of Terial Magic possibilities and would love to see what you create!

Thanks so much for visiting!

Just Because (taylored expressions)

Hi everyone! Today I have a super quick and easy card to share using  Taylored Expressions‘ new On a Limb-Branches and On a Limb-Leaves.

Michele Boyer - Taylored Expressions

Of course I needed something super cute to put on the branch so I selected one of the owls from Sunshiny Day.

Michele Boyer - Taylored Expressions

Copic markers – E27, R81, Y38

The owl was stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copics then plopped atop a branch cut from Chocolate Truffle card stock with Cupcake and Sugar Cube leaves. The small heart on the one leaf was die-cut using a Skinny Mini Valentine Border. The sentiment is from a really fab set, C’Mon Get Happy. (I love the fonts.)

Thanks so much for visiting today! I’ll be back tomorrow with something brand new!  🙂

Just a Note (paper smooches) and my favorite pencil

Hi everyone!  Today I’m popping in with a card using new Just a Note dies and Noteworthy stamp set from Paper Smooches. I’m also sharing a couple of my favorite (“everyday”) tools.

Michele Boyer - Paper Smooches

I first die-cut the circular opening from bright white X-Press It Blending Card, then on another piece of Blending Card, I repeatedly stamped “You are appreciated.”

circle

When I plan to stamp within a window, I often use a pencil to lightly trace around the outside edges of the die I plan to use so that I can see the exact area to be covered.  This helps with ensuring all edges of the area are stamped.

Pen

While on the subject of pencils, I have a new favorite mechanical pencil, found HERE on the Copic webiste. The Aristo DK2 is ideal for everyday use, is fully retractable, includes a soft ergonomically shaped grip zone (which I love), metal clip and eraser. (Simply pull out the top piece, twist the bottom and the eraser lifts to the desired height.)  This pencil just “feels good” in the hand. I love it.  🙂

Pencil-Eraser

If you prefer a lighter weight, more economically priced pencil, the Aristo Studio is also a great choice. It’s available in three vibrant colors as well as black (mine is light blue), includes a fully retractable tip and an eraser housed under the silver top. You can find info (and compare) the different Aristo mechanical pencils HERE.

For precise erasing, the Aristo Click-Eraser is quite handy. Simply click to advance the eraser. And it’s refillable!

Michele Boyer - Paper Smooches

Once the background was fully stamped, I centered and adhered it behind the opening. Using small, sharp scissors, I clipped the “just a note” stamp in between each word so that I could easily bend the stamp to fit the shape of  the circle. I then used a 0.5 black Multiliner to draw the dashed border. I stamped and die-cut the typewriter then cut a slit in the top for insertion of the “scrolled” paper before adhering with 1/2″ X-Press It foam tape.
