Thank You (Power Poppy)

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing a card using Forget-Me-Not Heart digital stamp by Power Poppy. I love the delicate stems, not to mention the heart shape. So sweet.  🙂

Michele Boyer - Power Poppy

I printed the image onto X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copics. I used a small handful of markers– a few yellows and oranges for the blossoms (even though Forget-Me-Nots are most commonly blue), with the Copic equivalent of Pantone’s Color of the Year, YG25, and accompanying shades for the leaves. (You can see all of Copic’s YG choices HERE.)

smPANTONE-2017

I don’t usually use such a bright green as a dominant color in my work but Pantone’s bright cheery green has inspired me. I used a bit of it in a previous post (here) but wanted to focus on this refreshing color a bit more. In addition to using  YG25 for the leaves, I used a bright green stripe in the background. It’s a bit more bold than my “usual,” but I like it!

Copic markers – E35, Y32, YR12, YR23, YG17, YG23, YG25, YR18, YR68, W00, W1, W2

I challenge you to incorporate some YG25 in your creating! You’ll definitely be seeing more from me.  🙂

Creating a Quick and Easy Bokeh Background

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing how I used X-Press It Mask It to create a quick and easy bokeh background for a super cute mermaid. (In searching for a link to this image, it seems the artist has closed her Etsy store. Sorry about that!)

X-Press It Mask It to create a quick and easy background

X-Press It Mask It is a low-tack, flexible masking film with a matte finish, ideal for airbrushing, painting, stenciling, sponging, etc. The film is easily die-cut, leaves no residue whatsoever, and can easily be moved, reapplied and re-used multiple times.

X-Press It Mask It

It’s available in sheets HERE (which is what I use) or rolls HERE.

Step 1: Cut Mask It to size, tape circle dies in place

First, cut a piece of Mask It to size then tape several dies in place.

Step 2 Remove die-cut circles, carefully separate mask from release sheet

I recommend using a shim (like this) when die-cutting to assure the dies cut cleanly through the film. Once die-cut, remove the circles then separate the film from the release paper. I use a pin to help separate the layers.

Step 3 Adhere mask over card stock, begin to blend ink

Adhere the film over the card stock and begin blending in the open spaces. Once ink is blended, carefully remove the film and readhere, positioning the film as desired. So easy! 🙂  You can find more info on X-Press It Mask It HERE.

Copic markers – B02, E00, E01, E11, E31, E35, E41, E42, E43, E57, E79, Y21, YG07; X-Press It Mask It

The mermaid was printed onto X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copic markers (as listed above).

The Cutest Flower and Copic Storage

Hi everyone! If you visit my blog often, you know how much I love Stamping Bella‘s Tiny Townies. But the new Tiny Townie Garden Girls? My FAV-o-rite! (Said in a singing voice noone should ever hear.) They are so very cute, and this one, Lily of the Valley, is my absolute favorite among the favorites.

Michele Boyer - Stamping Bella

She is adorable, and I’ve always loved Lily of the Valley. I remember seeing it in the yard of one of my childhood homes. I was always mesmerized by the shape of the blooms, like little delicate bells, and the scent…so lovely.

Michele Boyer - Stamping Bella

Copic markers – E00, E01, E11, E27, E31, E35, G16, R00, R01, R20, RV00, RV11, RV32, W00, W1, W2, YG07, YG09

I stamped Lily onto X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copic markers. After coloring, I added a few small rhinestones as tiny accents. The sentiment is from new Garden Girl Sentiments stamp set.

Marker-Storage-4

It’s been a while since I’ve shared my workspace. This is where the magic happens (haha), more like where the chaos happens.  It *never* looks this neat. Never. Ever.

Marker-Storage-5

I store my Copic Sketch/Ciao and wide markers, as well as atyou Spica glitter pens, Kirarina pens and Multiliners, as well as miscellaneous other items in these tower cubbies my husband built for me. I have them front and center on my desk. There are five cubby holes per “tower.” I have five towers and it seems to be the perfect amount of space. I do not own every Copic marker, but I do have an extensive collection.

Marker-Storage-6

Since I have quite a few R(ed) and B(lue) markers, I split them into two cubbies, placing the darker hues below the light (as shown in blue above). Doing so helps me to quickly find what I’m looking for.

To be honest, it pained me a bit to take these photos with the markers all askew, but right after I thought about straightening each of them, I decided that was not going to happen. Haha.

Thanks so much for visiting today! ♥

Friends like You (stamping bella) and Pantone Color of the Year

Hi friends! TGIF! This week’s Stamping Bella theme is Friendship. So many of Stamping Bella’s images fall into this category (which is wonderful)! I chose to use Uptown Girls Felicity & Blair with Pantone’s Color of the Year, Greenery.

Michele Boyer - Stamping Bella

To color the girl on the left whom I will deem “Felicity,” I used Pantone’s Color of the Year, Greenery, or Copic equivalent YG25, along with coordinating hues of YG23, YG07 and YG09. My selections are just that – my selections. There are numerous color combinations from which to choose. You can explore all yellow-green hues HERE.

Untitled-1

Each year, Pantone’s choice is intended to be a reflection of the mood and attitude of our global culture. As noted in the graphic above, Greenery is refreshing and revitalizing, symbolic of new beginnings. I think we could all use a little (or a lot) of that, considering all that has happened and is happening in our world today. With her YG25 dress, Blair, drinks and cupcakes, Felicity is ready to take on whatever 2017 brings!  (Note that she’s holding the drinks.) 😉

Michele Boyer - Stamping Bella

Copic markers – BG11, C00, C1, C2, E00, C01, E11, E13, E15, E18, E31, E35, E47, E51, E53, R01, R81, R83, R85, RV32, YG23, YG25, YG07, YG09

Next week’s challenge includes this inspirational photo:

If you can be anything, be kind (taylored expressions)

I adore Taylored Expressions‘ latest release of 3×4 Watercolor Panels, Inspire. The set includes three each of four designs. Each one is lovely, quick and easy to color. This is my favorite of the set. “If you can be anything, be kind.”

Michele Boyer - Taylored Expressions

To color my panel, I scribbled Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers onto an acrylic block then picked up color with a water brush. Super quick and easy.

Michele Boyer - Taylored Expressions

In the background, I used a Sugar Cube panel embossed with Cross Stitch Embossing Folder then added a strip of gold dot washi tape for extra interest.

Thanks so much for visiting today. 🙂
