An MFT Sneak Peek

Published by Shel9999 under My Designs, My Favorite Things

JC4Happy Monday!  I hope everyone had a great weekend!  I’m still up to my eyeballs in my big project (which, unfortunately, I cannot share), but I just *had* to take time to play with the latest sets from My Favorite Things.  They are SO cute!!

MFT is releasing three new sets on  Wednesday, January 9th.  This one is called Punny Farm.  I just know it will be a huge hit!!  There are so many cute animal images and some really cute sayings.

I used MFT’s Monday sketch challenge hosted by the amazingly talented Cindy Haffner.  I may have cheated a bit with that sentiment, but I didn’t know where to put it.  (I guess I could have just stamped it on the gold panel.)

Here the entire girl is paper-pieced except for her hat.  (I colored it with Copic markers drawing tiny lines and leaving some space uncovered to give it a ’straw’ look.)  I used different patterns and solids from the We R Memory Keepers Silver Lining line, then added shading to the pieces with my markers.  The chicken was colored with my dying white gel pen.  (Time to get another!)

For more samples by the design team, check out their blogs here or Splitcoast here.

Head on over to the MFT forum for details on the New Release Cocktail Party on Wednesday night (January 9th) from 9-11 pm EASTERN time. There will be sneak peeks, lots of fun and a chance to become MFT’s next Guest Designer.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!  Have a great day!

Shabby Icing and Happy Cupcakes

Published by Shel9999 under My Designs, My Favorite Things

SI1

Hey there!!  Here are a couple more samples using one of My Favorite Things newest releases, Icing on the Cake.  There are so many great pieces to this set!

Here I turned one of the cakes into a gift…I just didn’t ink the candles.  The “bow” is actually one of the stars from the background stamp.   I paper-pieced the gift and balloons.  The patterned paper was such a great match to the balloons!   When I saw it in the store, I just had to have it.  (There are also “Thank You” and “Congrats” themed papers in this line.  I’m sure you’ll be seeing those soon!)

As far as the layout, I had intended to use Jen’s sketch, but duh…I noticed too late that the focal point pretty much needed to be square and/or the card needed to be taller in order to leave room for the bottom panel.  I didn’t want to cut another piece of cardstock so I ended up with this instead.

HCCD425

This one is just super easy.  I have quite a bit of this paper left over from a project so I need to use it every chance I get.

I stamped three cupcakes, used a straight edge and marker to add the table line and added a bit of color.  The red jewels are by Doodlebug.  Have you seen them?  They are FABOO bling!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  If I’m not back before (or during) the weekend, have a good one!

I’ll be your Umbrella-Another Sneak Peek

Published by Shel9999 under My Designs, My Favorite Things

IBYU

How cute is that sentiment?  Here are a couple samples of one of My Favorite Things three new releases this month, “Rain or Shine.”  I think this set is adorable!

There are quite a few sentiments…”I’m here for you,” “Rain or shine,” “Get well soon,” “Feeling under the weather?” and “Friends brighten your day” (along with the one I used here).  There is a dotted umbrella, a cloud, rain drops and boots.  SO cute!!

For this card, I paper-pieced the rain coat and stamped the boots onto orange cardstock, coloring in the dots with a white gel pen.

This one was totally inspired by the ribbon.  I’ve had it forever and finally decided to use it…plus I thought all the dots would be perfect.

I stamped the umbrella in Versamagic Sea Breeze (Dew Drop), then traced the outline and colored the dots with a Chocolate marker.  The boots were stamped in Chocolate ink, then I used a Q-tip to color them with the Sea Breeze ink and colored in the dots again with a Chocolate marker.  The boots are popped up on dimensionals and I can now see that the way the shadow is falling on the card, I should have outlined the other side of the umbrella.  (I’m super-picky…but not picky enough to retake the photo or restamp the card.)

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

You Warm My Heart and a ‘DOH’ moment for me

Published by Shel9999 under My Designs, My Favorite Things

YWMH

On December 5th, My Favorite Things will release three new sets, one of which I used here, Baby It’s Cold Outside.

I paper-pieced the girl’s coat, scarf and boots using prints from Daisy D’s Snowflakes and Holly 6 x 6 pad.  I love the old-fashioned look it gave this card.

I first stamped the image onto the blue patterned paper, then again onto white cardstock, and two more times onto the red and ivory/olive prints.  It sounds like a lot of stamping and piecing, but it really wasn’t.  Even cutting the pieces wasn’t bad on this one!

It’s a really cute set which includes three sentiments, the image above, a mitten, one large snowflake, a set of three smaller flakes and the two images that lead to this next card.  I don’t know what was wrong with me, but I kept looking at this one stamp thinking, “They forgot to put the handle on the mug…Why wouldn’t they have put a handle on the mug??”  I thought this for DAYS.  Just as I was about to mention it to my husband, I realized “This is not a mug.  It’s a HAT.”

Boy, did I feel stupid.  SO, the set also includes A HAT and a little circle that, I must admit, I am still unsure of it’s purpose.  But I gave it one!!!  IT IS A HANDLE FOR A MUG!!!

Chillin

I sometimes wonder about myself…the things that go through my mind…or DON’T go through my mind. lol.

Anyway, I used a Petaloo magnetic tag/card here.  The magnet is in that circle part on the front, completely enclosed in the red paper.  These are so much fun to decorate.  The inside is just right for holding a gift card.  Matching envelopes are included, they come in several colors/prints and there are matching flowers available as well.  They are VERY nice!

So, on Wednesday, December 5th from 9-11 p.m. (est), My Favorite Things is having a New Release “Cocktail Party.”  Head on over to the MFT forum at Splitcoaststampers to get all the details.  There will be give-aways, coupon codes, a challenge and sneak peeks.   And find out Wednesday how you can become an MFT Guest Designer.  I hope you’ll join us!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Think Pink and a *bit* of a sneak peek

Published by Shel9999 under My Designs, My Favorite Things

TAMToday I couldn’t decide if I wanted to post another Halloween card or go with my last two designs using Think Pink.  Since it’s the last day of Breast Cancer Awareness month, I decided to go with Think Pink by My Favorite Things.

Believe it or not, I didn’t paper- piece on this one!  *shock* Everything is colored with Copic markers including the ribbon.  The sentiment is from MFT’s new Essential Sentiments available tomorrow.

Cardstock:  SU Apricot Appeal, Chocolate Chip, Papertrey Ink white     Patterned Paper:  Me & My Big Ideas “Poppy”     Stamps:  My Favorite Things “Think Pink” and “Essential Sentiments”     Ink:  Brilliance Graphite Black, SU Chocolate Chip     Accessories:  Vanilla taffeta, Copic markers, SU Chocolate Chip marker, mat pack/needle, word window punch.     Finished card size 4 ¼” x 5 ½”.

ITTaNo sneak peek with this one, but I was so obsessive with the cutting and piecing, I had to share.

This is the card I had intended to contribute to the Ebay auction but I cut myself (the first time) on my (then) new paper trimmer and things got a bit messy.  As you can see, there is no red and I have really cleaned it up (as in “re-made” it).  The only marker used here was to color the skin.  I cut out the tiny ribbons, the hands, the clothes, the pink ribbon on the bottom… I know, I’m nuts. But I do like how it turned out.

Cardstock:  Papertrey Ink white     Patterned Paper:  Basic Grey Gypsy “Haven,” “Dragonfly” and “Archangel”     Stamps:  My Favorite Things “Think Pink     Ink:  Brilliance Graphite Black, Pretty in Pink     Accessories:   Copic marker, word window punch,  white brad, mat pack/needle, white Signo gel pen.     Finished card size 4 ¼” x 5 ½”.

Don’t forget…there are four more days to enter Lindsey’s Inkadinkado contest (details here)! She’s looking for a guest designer!  Lots of prizes!

Thanks for stopping by!  Even more sneak peeks tomorrow…new Christmas stamps by C.C. Designs!

Happy Halloween!

Round Two–MFT Sneak Peek

Published by Shel9999 under My Designs, My Favorite Things

OIAM2

The second two new sets to be released by My Favorite Things on November 1st are Build a Bouquet and Essential Sentiments.  And before I say another word, I want you all to know that Build a Bouquet is a great set.  But I am more of an “image” person as opposed to a “piece-it-together” kind of person.  No matter how hard I tried, this set outdid me.  I don’t even know where this card came from.  The style is totally not me.  I’m not bold.  I’m not hip or funky…not that this card is…I just know it’s “not me.”  I am bouquet-less.  Once I accepted that, I decided to look at the set from a completely different angle.  I may not be able to build a bouquet, but I CAN build a snowman!

DCT2

I rolled the edges of the different sized circles in the blue ink and beginning with the heads, started building my snowmen (um…snow-people).  I used the littlest flower for the eyes and buttons, the next size up for the snowlady’s pom-pom and the stems for the arms.  The flower pot is the dude’s hat and I’m not sure what kind of little flower part that is that I used for the noses.  I used lots of Diamond Stickles for snowflakes and sparkle and added the sentiment at the bottom.

I am not giving up on Build a Bouquet.  I will build my bouquet…just not today.

Thanks for stopping by!!  Two more MFT samples tomorrow!  Can’t let the month end without two more from Think Pink…and Essential Sentiments (which, by the way, includes 28 phrases, all of which fit in SU’s word window punch)!

One in a Million…Cardstock:  Papertrey Ink white, SU black     Patterned Paper:  Imaginisce Black Tie Optional “Striped Sophistication”     Stamps:  My Favorite Things “Build a Bouquet” and “Essential Sentiments”     Ink:  SU Black and Purely Pomegranate     Accessories:  White Karen Foster Thumbtack brads.  Finished card size 5 ½” x 4 ¼”.

Dreams Come True…Cardstock:  SU Whisper White, Black     Patterned Paper:  SU Holiday Thyme     Stamps:  My Favorite Things “Build a Bouquet” and “Essential Sentiments”     Ink:  SU Black, Bashful Blue, Pumpkin Pie     Accessories:  Diamond Stickles, white taffeta, dimensionals, Fiskars deckle blade/rotary trimmer, black SU marker.   Finished card size 5” x 5”.

My Favorite Things…a sneak peek

Published by Shel9999 under My Designs, My Favorite Things

FS1Hey there!  I hope you all had a great weekend!  It was gorgeous here, but it is COLD this morning!  BRRRRRR…..
My Favorite Things has three new releases November 1st, one of which is this set, By the Seashore.

I colored this image using Copic markers.  I’m still practicing my background shading so pretend it’s a nice, clear day.  :)  The hat is cut out and popped up for some added dimension and I used a deckle blade in my Fiskars Rotary cutter to get that ripped edge look.  I love being able to switch those blades for different edges.  And I haven’t cut myself again so that’s a plus!  :)

Cardstock:  SU Chocolate Chip, Papertrey Ink white     Patterned Paper:  Carol Wilson Fine Arts, Inc.     Stamps:  My Favorite Things “By the Seashore”     Ink:  Brilliance Graphite Black     Accessories:  Copic markers, black SU marker, vanilla taffeta ribbon, Karen Foster Designs loopy brads, pop dots, deckle edge blade/Fiskars rotary cutter.  Finished card size 4 ¼” x 4 ¼”.

MY1

This one is super simple.  The “hat stand” is actually the fancy little arrow thingy from the Boho Blossoms set.  As above, the hat is cut out and popped up.  I cut out the little flower too.  It’s raised on a balled glue dot.  The color combo was taken directly from the ribbon.

Cardstock:  SU Old Olive and Taken with Teal, Papertrey Ink white     Stamps:  My Favorite Things “By the Seashore” and “Boho Blossoms”     Ink:  Brilliance Graphite Black     Accessories:  Copic markers, black SU marker, glue dot, pop dots, ribbon (May Arts).  Finished card size 4 ¼” x 4 ¼”.

Thanks for stopping by! I’ll have more sneak peeks tomorrow!! Have a great day!

Coffee and Friends…Perfect!

Published by Shel9999 under My Designs, My Favorite Things

CAFPB

This set, Hot Stuff, is probably my most used set by My Favorite Things.  Probably the fact that I just LOVE my lattes has something to do with it.  I can’t go a day without my Starbucks!    Well, I can but…let’s not think about “those” days!

There’s a sketch challenge posted today in MFT’s new Member Company forum at Splitcoast Stampers.  Check it out!   I only modified the sketch a tad.

As on most of my MFT cards, I paper-pieced the girl by stamping the image first onto the pinkish paper (mostly as a guide for placing the pieces).  The dress, arms and coffee cup were all pieced and glued to the pink background square.  I colored the inside of the tiny cup with a brown marker.  The larger cups were stamped on various coordinating prints and cut out and “hung” on the brads.  I used an X-acto blade to cut inside each handle and there’s a pop dot under each cup for some added dimension.

When I thought I had completed the front panel, it still looked a bit bare to me in spots, so I added some faux stitching using my mat pack and a Sahara Sand marker.  The card base is Very Vanilla.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Cardstock:  Very Vanilla     Patterned Paper:  We R Memory Keepers Vintage Brass “Verdant,” “Bed Knobs” and “Heartstrings”     Stamps:  My Favorite Things “Hot Stuff”     Ink:  Brilliance Graphite Black     Accessories:  Copic markers, SU Antique Brass hodgepodge brads, Sahara Sand marker, mat pack/needle.  Finished card size 5 ½” x 4 ¼”.

A Special Gift for a Special Friend

Published by Shel9999 under My Designs, My Favorite Things

TPGS3

Hello there!  I couldn’t wait to show you this set, but I wanted to wait until the gift had been given before posting…

The minute I saw this new set from My Favorite Things, Think Pink, I knew I had to have an extra for a dear friend of mine who has battled breast cancer.   (This is the same friend who actually got me hooked on stamping!  Thank you, Tina!!

With the three little notecards and envies, I placed in the bag the stamp set, several acrylic blocks, a Brilliance Graphite Black stamp pad and a bag of Double Chocolate Milano cookies.  She loved it!

I paper pieced the girls shirts (and even the tiny little pink ribbons).

I wanted to use this particular image on the outside of the bag, but once I had it together, I thought the image looked too small and the bag too big.  Then I had the idea of wrapping the pink twill around the handle and using the image in the center.  I was much happier with the result!

I’d like to mention once again that 50% of the proceeds from each Think Pink set sold (both retail and wholesale) will be donated to the research of breast cancer.  Every little bit helps!  (You can see the whole set here.)

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Cardstock:  Very Vanilla     Patterned Paper:  Cloud Nine Design Baby Girl Stripe and Baby Girl Dots     Stamps:  My Favorite Things “Think Pink”     Ink:  Brilliance Graphite Black     Accessories:  Martha Stewart pink twill, Doodlebug white brads, Copic marker (skin), bag (source unknown).  Card size 3” x 3”.

It’s a Jungle out There!

Published by Shel9999 under My Designs, My Favorite Things

IAJw

Happy Monday!  For those of you who have the day off…LUCKY YOU!!! :)

Here’s a second sample using It’s a Jungle out There, one of the new releases by My Favorite Things.  I had fun including all the animals and the girl.  The lion’s head is popped up as well as the monkey’s hat and the girl.

I colored everything with Copic markers….this was my first experience with them actually.  I wish I had included more color/leaves in the background, but once I finished, I was afraid to go back to do more for fear I’d ruin the whole thing.

The patterned paper, Basic Grey Mellow, and brown ribbon-ish twill are from Jacksonbelle Embellishments. By the way, Lindsey has announced her new contest and the prizes are fantastic!  Check it out here.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Cardstock:  SU Chocolate Chip, Papertrey Ink white     Patterned Paper: Basic Grey Mellow     Stamps:  My Favorite Things “It’s a Jungle out There”     Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black     Accessories:  Copic markers, SU Creamy Caramel marker, twill, hemp, dimensionals.  Finished card size 5” x 5”.
