Feb. Die-namics Design – Express Yourself

Hi everyone! Today kicks off the first of another new monthly feature with the MFT DT.  Each month we’ll focus on a different aspect or theme using our Die-namics dies.  This month, word Die-namics are taking center stage.

My first card uses Words of Gratitude.

Michele Boyer/My Favorite ThingsI used a few ink refills (Pink Lemonade, Ripe Raspberry, Lemon Chiffon and Sour Apple) to watercolor the background, added my sentiment cut from Sweet Tooth card stock, then white embossed “for you” (from Thankful Thoughts, the companion stamp set to Words of Gratitude).  The heart was cut using Heart STAX.

Michele Boyer/My Favorite ThingsInside, I added a swoosh of pink watercolor then white embossed a sentiment from Friends Like Us.  Beneath the sentiment, I added a few tiny hearts cut using Blueprints 11.

My next card uses Happy Hellos Die-namics with flowers stamped from Easter Bunny stamp set.  The small word “friend” is from Homespun Hearts.

The flowers were stamped in Daffodil, Chocolate Brown and Gumdrop Green dye inks.  I’ll have a tutorial for this type of stacked sentiment on Wednesday.  🙂

Organization for Your Creative Space – Coloring Mediums

Hi everyone! I hope you’ve been enjoying MFT‘s organization posts.  I know each one has been good for me.  Bit by bit my stamp room is getting into tip top shape.

Today the design team is sharing ideas on how to organize your markers, pencils, pens, etc.  Any coloring medium.

My wonderful hubby, being the very talented guy that he is, built these three towers to house my Copic markers.  There was a similar product on the market, but when I was in need of the storage, the product was no longer available.

CM-Org-CopicsSince I use my markers so often, they are front and center on my desk.  Each cubby holds a different color category.  Additionally, at the top left I have a cubby for my Spica glitter pens and on the bottom left I have Multi-liners and a few other miscellaneous markers.

CM-Org-CopicsCUTo the left of my work space, I have a shelf which holds my Colorless Blender Solution, air cans for a compact airbrush and my Copic refills.

CM-Org-CopicsRefillsBeneath my work area, I have my treasured airbrush.

CM-Org-Air-BrushBehind my work area, I have a shelf that holds additional markers, pens and pencils.

CM-Pencils-MarkersOn the right are some Stampin’ Up markers, opaque, glaze and metallic markers and some sponge brushes and inks.

CM-Pencils-Markers2

And on the left are my colored pencils, blending chemical and distress markers. I use the small jar with the sponge to hold a bit of solution to blend colored pencils.

CM-Pencils-Markers3That’s a tour of my coloring mediums.  Be sure to check out the MFT blog for direct links to other participating DT.  Hope you get some ideas for your own organization!

Creative Construction with Blueprints – Frame It

Hi everyone!  The MFT team is back today to share our monthly challenge constructing with  Blueprints. This month we are using Blueprints 2, 16, 17, and 19 featuring framing elements of all shapes and sizes.  First we’ll assemble a card based on one of the provided Blueprints sketches, then we’ll design an original card combining elements from those sets.

For my first card, I chose a sample sketch using Blueprints 19 and super-cute new Somebunny stamp set by Birdie Brown. All colored images were cut from X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copic markers.

Somebunny-Loves-You-BP-1-500

Framing elements were cut from Peach Bellini, Coral Crush and Sweet Tooth card stock.  Small hearts were cut using Blueprints 11.

Somebunny-Loves-You-BP-1-CU2Inside, I added a second frame and chick, stamped an ampersand from Always & Forever and added a partial sentiment.

Somebunny-Loves-You-BP-1-IN2

I actually love how my second card turned out. I created a banner using Blueprints 16, a ladder from Blueprints 2, a floor from Blueprints 17 and scalloped borders from Blueprints 19.

Somebunny-Wishes-HBD-BP2-500

The banner was cut from Lemon Chiffon, Summer Splash and Pink Lemonade card stock with gold stars (from BP 17) cut from a scrap of gold card stock. The sentiment was stamped in Golden Glitz ink.  (LOVE this ink!)

Somebunny-Wishes-HBD-BP2-CU2Inside, I stamped a small sentiment from Birthday Sentiments, another bunny in Pink Lemonade and added tiny stars from Blueprints 11.

Head on over to the MFT Blog for a list of participating DT to see more Blueprints versatility.

More from MFT’s February Release

Hi everyone! I have a couple more cards to share today using MFTs latest release. (You can find all the new products HERE.)

First, I created a shaker card using new Pure Innocence Bear Hugs and Inside & Out Diagonal Stitched Square STAX.

Best-Friends-Best-Gift-500

The PI girl was die-cut from X-Press It Blending Card using Bear Hugs Die-namics, stamped in Black Licorice hybrid ink then colored with Copic markers. The shaker contents are comprised of silver sequins with die-cuts of X’s, O’s and hearts from Love Centerpieces.

Best-Friends-Best-Gift-CU

Inside, I white embossed a sentiment and added a heart from Blueprints 22 with some additional X’s and O’s.

Best-Friends-Best-Gift-In

Next I used super cool new Equalizer Stencil, sponged with Cotton Candy, Ripe Raspberry and then Wild Cherry inks.

You-Make-My-Heart-Beat-500

The sentiment, from Keep on Rockin’, was stamped in Ripe Raspberry and Wild Cherry. After stamping, I traced over the center heartbeat  line with a clear glaze pen.

MFT February Release – Favorite Peeps

Hi everyone!  I’m back today with another sample of MFT’s February 3rd release. Today I’ve created a spring wreath made from Pink Lemonade peep bunnies.

The bunny die is one of many in Candy Jar Die-namics and the sentiment is from Candy Jar Companions.  The scalloped border was cut using new Blueprints 22.

One-of-My-Favorite-Peeps4R500

To evenly space my peeps, I lightly traced a circle then drew one line horizontally across the center and one vertically down the center.  The tiny label is raised on a piece of foam tape then “stitched” to the wreath.

The bunny die does not cut the holes for the eyes and nose.  There are tiny holes through which you can pierce if you so choose.  I like the little face, so I pierced. 🙂

One-of-My-Favorite-Peeps2CU

I used an extra bunny on the inside with an additional sentiment.
